When everyone was speculating who he could be, Carver Larsen held Cecilia Yates's hand and walked out of the restaurant.
Approaching the car, Cecilia asked, "Is it nice to hold my hand?".
As he gradually became familiar with Cecilia, Carver said with a smile, "My girlfriend's little hands are white and smooth, and she looks like a beauty goddess. Of course her hands are nice to hold."
With a blush on her face, Cecilia withdrew her hand, "I did it just to protect you. If you want me to be your girlfriend, you have to try hard."
Cecilia, delicate and charming, sometimes also strong.
Although she was born into a wealthy family, she was not proud and arrogant as a rich daughter, but easy-going and approachable.
Especially her shy look at this moment, which was very endearing.
Carver couldn't help but felt a little excited, "So as long as I try harder, I still have a chance to chase you?"
Cecilia's beautiful eyes flickered, "Didn't you say that it is important to be well-matched in family status? Can you chase me but overcome the gap in your heart and never care about judgements from others?"
"If I'm confident enough to close the gap in family status, why can't I chase you?"
With his medical skills and the connections he has accumulated over the past few years, Carver believed that there will be no gap in family status between him and the Yates family if he could be given enough time.
But Carver still thought about a question, "But it is not because I saved you so that you want to give me a chance, right?" If this romantic feeling came from gratitude, Carver would not take it, even if he had feeling for Cecilia.
Cecilia blinked her eyes and said, "I'm not the kind of person who would fall for you just because I'm grateful. But if you want to chase me, I won't resent it and I can give you a chance. So do you want to try to conquer me?"
Cecilia was surprised when she said these words. In the past, she thought that girls were not supposed to say this, or she would be considered not reserved or decent enough.
But this person was Carver Larsen, and Cecilia was willing to take the initiative to take the first step.
Carver's eyes lit up, "Sure! I believe I will conquer you and let you beg me for mercy on the balcony, in the bathroom, and on the floor."
"..."
Cecilia was a little confused for a moment. Then she realized what he meant and her face turned red. She raised her hand and slapped Carver, "Naughty. Auntie said that you have always been a good and decent kid since very young. Now it seems like you were just acting before."
Holding Cecilia's hand, Carver smiled evilly, "Women always love naughty men, right?"
Cecilia face turned even redder, and she quickly pushed Carver away and got into the car, "Stop that. Also, call me Cecilia from now on. If you call me Miss Yates again, I won't let you chase me anymore."
"Okay, my future wife."
"You are ridiculous. I'm not your wife yet. You haven't even chased me!"
Mason Massey, who was rushing to the hospital at this moment, probably never expected that his appearance would quickly heat up the feeling between Carver and Cecilia.
Or he would be so depressed and even vomit blood to know this!
…
"Carver, you are so shameless to call me like that when you didn't even chase me. And don't you think 'future wife' sounds awkward?"
"It seems a little awkward, so only 'wife'."
"No, you can't call me like that now. At least after I agree to be your girlfriend... that will be fine."
After knowing how they felt about each other, they two chatted and joked casually like lovers while walking along the way. Cecilia's face turned red and never stopped.
Until they arrived at a bustling neighborhood, Carver stopped teasing and asked Cecilia, "Is this where you said you wanted to take me?"
This neighborhood maintained the style of the 1930s to1940s, surrounded by residential areas.
Cecilia patted her hot face and said, "Let's get out of the car first."
They two got out of the car and walked to the door of a Pharmacy called Joshua's Pharmacy. There was a big storefront, which was made by opening up the wall between two storefronts, in the front. And a backyard and residential area behind.
Carver looked at Cecilia confused, "Dear wife, what is this?"
"Don't call me wife."
"Okay, my wife."
She knew that Carver did it on purpose, Cecilia secretly said "jerk", and asked, "Do you know Joshua Martin?"
Carver nodded and said, "I heard about him since I was very young. He is one of the top ten miraculous doctors in the Dragon Country and a native of Jefpombert City." He paused and looked at the Pharmacy in front of him, "Joshua's Pharmacy, is this where he is?"
Cecilia said, "This is the Pharmacy opened by Mr. Martin. He also treated patients here. However, since some things happened two years ago, Mr. Martin stopped seeing patients. The Pharmacy now only sells some medicine."
"He didn't provide medical treatment any more? I remember that Mr. Martin said that he would never stop treating patients until the end of his life?"
Cecilia sighed, "He did say that. And these words were once hung in this Pharmacy hall. But something happened later, and Mr. Martin even removed the plaque with those words."
About two years ago, Mr. Martin's son and his son's family went on a trip. However, within a few days after returning, strangely, the whole family fell very sick .
In the end, no matter how much Mr. Martin tried to save him or asked some colleagues to help, his son and daughter-in-law still passed away. In the end, only the granddaughter Jodie Martin survived. People said although she was still alive, she was more like a walking dead.
This made Joshua Martin feel disheartened and believed that he was not qualified enough to be a doctor anymore, so he stopped treating patients.
Speaking of this, Cecilia sighed again, "A few days ago, Mr. Martin even announced that he would sell Joshua's Pharmacy. It seemed that he was planning to use a sum of money to take Jodie Martin abroad to find hope for treatment. You said you wanted to open a clinic, so I contacted Mr. Martin and he asked me to come over to talk today.”
Hearing this, Carver felt sympathy for Joshua Martin. As a doctor, he couldn't save his relatives. You can imagine how he felt.
Also, he was touched by Cecilia. He just mentioned it casually that day, but Cecilia remembered it in her heart.
If she couldn't let him go to work at Prosperous Group, then just help him find a place to open a clinic, according to his ideas.
How can I expect more from the god if it's possible to have such a wonderful girl.
Seeing that Carver looked at her quietly, Cecilia whispered, "What are you doing?"
"Dear wife, you are so kind!"
"Again, you are taking advantage of me by calling me that, you jerk."
She was blaming him, but didn't look angry, and pulled Carver into the Pharmacy.
The medical boy at the counter held a fly swatter and said lazily and boringly, "No one will provide medical treatments. No medicine for selling. We are no longer doing business here."
"My name is Cecilia Yates. I made an appointment with Mr. Martin yesterday to discuss about buying Joshua's Pharmacy."
"Oh, then you can just go to the backyard and look for him."
Cecilia held Carver walked through the front hall and sighed, "My grandpa often took me to Joshua's Pharmacy in the past. At that time, there were many patients, and dignitaries lined up to seek for medical treatment. Now, it changed a lot."
Carver said, "Once a highly respected doctor gives up his ambition to help the world, he will lose his honor faster than anyone else. It's normal!"
Why should others respect you when they ask you for help but get nothing?
Cecilia nodded and came to the backyard with Carver. Obviously this place hasn't been cleaned for a long time and the grass has grown very high.
"Is the girl of the Yates family? When did you wake up?"
Just when they were wondering where Joshua was, an old man's voice came from the pavilion on the left.
Cecilia came over and saw an old man sitting with a young woman in the pavilion. She quickly let go of Carver's hand, like a little girl who got caught secretly dating,"Mr. Hartley, Miss Hartley. Why are you here too?"
She lowered her voice and introduced to Carver, "The founder of Ronnie Group, Ronnie Hartley of the Hartley family, and his granddaughter Liz Hartley."
Carver nodded slightly. He knew that the Hartley family was the second richest family in Jefpombert City, just after the Massey family.
Ronnie Hartley coughed a few times and said, "I came to old Joshua to treat my illness, but he refused. So I can only come here every day and wait. But Cecilia, didn't they say that you can't wake up?"
"Jodie, Jodie, what's wrong with you? Don't scare your grandpa!"
