"Carver, won't you go to the hospital to check on Idan? After all, he is your cousin. Uncle's family is still your relatives!"
"Some relatives are worse than strangers, like the neighbor Dong's family from before. Can Uncle's family compare?"
"Adela, don't make it difficult for Carver anymore. Your brother's family has such an attitude; I don't want to deal with them."
"Dad, Mom, I'm going to Whitecloud City to treat someone. It may take a few days to come back. Call me if there's anything."
...
The next morning, after once again rejecting Adela's requests and ideas, Carver went out directly and had Gisellei drive him to the car dealership.
This time it might take a few days, and he wanted to give an acupuncture treatment to Hedy first. Also, he planned to buy a car as a birthday present for Cornelia, so he wouldn't have to rush it when he came back in a few days.
But when Carver arrived, Hedy was still on the way.
So, he entered the dealership first. The salesperson who had seen him a few days ago knew he was a friend of Hedy, so no one came forward to greet him.
"Sir, are you looking to buy a car?"
It was a saleswoman who had just joined yesterday. She hadn't seen Carver that day.
Her name, as written on her badge, was Maria.
Carver nodded, "I want to buy a car as a birthday gift for my sister."
A saleswoman named Maud smiled and said, "Hey handsome, don't tease the girl. You're friends with Manager Hedy, and your sister has visited us many times. Your family can't afford a car, can it?"
"If you want to meet Manager Hedy, wait for her in her office. Don't waste the girl's time."
Other salespeople also chuckled, assuming that Carver was just joking with Maria.
Having heard that salespeople in 4S stores often looked down on others, Carver didn't expect to encounter it today, and it was under Hedy's team.
Sighing to himself, he said to Maria, "If you're busy, I can wait for your manager."
"It's okay, there aren't many customers this morning. I'll show you around."
Maria smiled sweetly, not treating Carver like the others did.
The girl's innocence made Carver feel favorable, "Then introduce me to a car suitable for a girl to drive. Forget about the price; just find something suitable."
Hearing Carver's confident tone, Maud whispered disdainfully, "He knows the details, so why pretend?"
Carver heard it but didn't bother to respond, following Maria to explore the cars.
After a while, a man and a woman walked in, the man wearing an expensive suit, a watch worth hundreds of thousands on his wrist, and shoes that cost tens of thousands. The woman, although not in any famous brand, still wore an outfit that cost tens of thousands.
Experienced Maud immediately recognized them as potential customers, quickly stood up, and greeted them, "Are you here for a car?"
Their attitude was completely different from before.
Colin nodded and said, "I'm getting engaged on Saturday and planning to give my fiancée a Porsche 718. Could you introduce it to us?"
"Sure, this way, please."
Maud led them to the exhibition area, where Carver and Maria were also present.
Maud disdainfully said, "Get out of the way, I'm showing the car to the clients. Don't block the way."
"Carver?"
The tall and beautiful but slightly exaggerated makeup woman stared at Carver and called out tentatively.
Carver turned around and recognized the woman calling him, "Nina, long time no see."
This woman was so familiar to Carver. She was Nina, the daughter of the eldest uncle's family. Nina had bullied him and Cornelia a lot when they were young, and he didn't expect to meet her there.
After confirming that it was really Carver, Nina sneered while holding Colin's arm, "My Second Uncle said you came back, thinking it was a joke. I didn't expect you to dare to come back. Aren't you afraid that Mr. Clement will find out and beat you to death?"
Colin glanced at Carver and sneered, "He's the cousin you said who fought with Mr. Clement?"
"Yes, it's him." Nina said sarcastically, "When my Second Uncle was a teacher, their family was quite glorious. He and his sister bullied me a lot. Fortunately, karma caught up, and he offended Mr. Clement, so their family fell, and ours rose."
Nina's twisted view of right and wrong made Carver smile faintly without arguing.
Five years ago, he had already seen through the true faces of all his relatives. Pointing at a car, he said to Maria, "Let's go with this one. Please handle the paperwork quickly; I want to give it to my sister as a birthday gift in a few days."
Nina chuckled, "Carver, this car is the top configuration of the 718. It will cost nearly two million after everything is done. Don't tease me."
"If you can afford the top configuration of the 718, why does your family still live in a run-down house?"
"Sales beauty, don't waste time with him. People like us are the real powerful clients."
Worried about losing a "big client," Maud pushed Maria aside and said, "Hurry and take him to the side. Don't affect my deal; otherwise, you won't even pass the internship period."
Caught off guard, Maria was pushed to the side, and Carver quickly supported her, asking, "Are you okay?"
Nina taunted, "Carver, don't embarrass yourself here. I'm your cousin, and involving me in your mess is embarrassing for me too. My fiancé won't be happy."
Carver let go of Maria and handed her a card, "Full payment, use the card!"
Huh?
No one expected Carver to be so direct and rude.
Nina was also taken aback. Could this guy have money now?
But she quickly dismissed the thought, convinced that Carver couldn't have money, or else his family wouldn't have lived so miserably in the past five years. Moreover, Carver was currently wearing cheap clothes, further solidifying her opinion.
Continuing to mock, Nina said, "Carver, you're really shameless. Do you think you're the son of a tycoon?"
To gain favor with the clients, Maud chimed in, "Exactly, your sister often comes to our store. Who doesn't know her background? Why pretend?"
Carver didn't care about their mockery, smiling, he said, "Beauty, don't daydream, just swipe the card."
Maria hesitated before taking the card, "Please wait a moment."
Bringing the card machine, Maria operated the card swiping in front of everyone.
Nina's mouth curled with a mocking smile, preparing to humiliate Carver if the card payment failed.
However, after a moment, the card machine rang with the crisp sound of a successful payment, and it started printing the receipt.
The expressions of everyone on the scene froze. Colin looked at Nina in confusion; didn't she say he had no money?
Nina was shocked for a moment but quickly dispelled the idea, convinced that Carver couldn't have money. Otherwise, their family wouldn't have lived so pitifully for the past five years. Besides, Carver was now wearing cheap clothes, reinforcing her belief.
Continuing to mock, Nina said, "Carver, you're really extravagant. If I'm not mistaken, this must be your family's compensation for demolition, right?"
Colin nodded slightly, "Indeed, it's the compensation for the demolition. It's interesting to use it for decoration."
Nina, with a more obvious trace of mockery on her face, concluded, "Carver, you're really a spendthrift. If I guessed correctly, this must be your family's compensation for demolition, right?"
Upon hearing this, Colin nodded slightly, "Yes, it's indeed the compensation for demolition. It's quite interesting to use it for decoration."
Her expression became even more disdainful and scornful towards Carver.
Carver didn't bother to explain. He took back the card and put it in his pocket, maintaining a smile as he said to Maria, "You can handle the next procedures, insurance, and so on. After processing, give them to your manager; she will give them to me." He then went to the manager's office to wait for Hedy.
Still in a daze about landing a big deal on the second day of work, Maria muttered, "Okay."
Maud, envious of the bill in her hand, said sourly, "Surely, she'll find the manager later to cancel the order. Just swiping the card to show off."
Hearing this, Nina's eyes lit up. She felt even more satisfied now, "I see, my cousin is really good at pretending!"
