Rex, wearing an embarrassed expression, temporarily pulled Rita away, clearly going to figure out a way to raise money, or else they would lose face tonight.
As for running away, that was impossible unless they planned to disappear in the future.
"Brother, is this really not from our family's demolition compensation?"
Rex and his sister, feeling embarrassed, made Cornelia quite happy. However, spending tens of thousands of dollars still made her feel uneasy.
Carver whispered, "Don't worry, the demolition compensation is with our parents. I haven't touched a penny of it. This is genuinely my own money!"
"But you shouldn't spend your money like this. You haven't even found a girlfriend yet."
"Who told them to try to deceive us? I definitely can't let them have their way!"
Cornelia, feeling warm in her heart, decided at this moment that she must help Carver win over Hedy, the wealthy woman, so that Carver wouldn't have to struggle too hard.
Of course, Carver was unaware of Cornelia's thoughts. He smiled and greeted the awkward crowd, "Why are you all sitting? Let's drink!"
Except for Nancy Summer, the remaining people looked uncomfortable. Even when Carver had the waitress fill their glasses, they felt a bit out of sorts.
Nelly murmured, "Acting high and mighty with demolition compensation, get ready to cry later."
After about half an hour, just as everyone wondered if the Quinn siblings might run away, they returned.
Rex smiled and said, "Today is Rita's birthday. I just talked to my parents on the phone for a bit." Then he called the waitress, "Bring the bill for the other half!"
Seemingly full of confidence, but his eyes revealed a painful expression.
Rita, on the other hand, showed it even more clearly. Her smile seemed on the verge of turning into tears.
Because Rex had just spent money from Rubert Drake. Unable to ask Rubert Drake for more money, Rex had just mortgaged the 40,000 dollars car he gave her. Additionally, he borrowed 100,000 from a high-ranking executive at Ronnie Group, promising some excessive things.
Thinking that her birthday, which should have been her moment to shine, had turned into this, Rita really wanted to cry.
But she knew she couldn't cry and forced a smile even more difficult than crying, "Nelly, come with me after this round is over. My brother said he'll take us to meet a high-ranking executive from Ronnie Group, and he can help you get an internship and maybe even a permanent position at Ronnie Group."
Nelly was overjoyed, "That's great, thank you, Brother Rex." At this moment, she couldn't help but glance at Carver, "Unlike some people, who can only pretend with demolition compensation. In the future, they might not even afford to rent a house."
The others nodded enviously, believing that Carver was pretending with demolition compensation, and the truly impressive one was someone like Rex.
Most people started praising the Quinn siblings again, lifting the spirits of the previously frustrated Quinn siblings.
Carver was pleased with this turn of events, drinking alone. Cornelia, Hedy, and Nancy Summer were chatting.
As the night came to an end, Rita invited Cornelia, "By the way, Cornely, my brother has already arranged for your internship at Ronnie Group. Remember to go to Ronnie Group next Monday morning, and don't be late."
Carver's brows furrowed slightly, a faint coldness flashing in his eyes.
Rita was clearly someone who held grudges. How could she sincerely help Cornelia?
However, Cornelia, with simple thoughts, didn't speculate with too much malice, "Thank you, Rita."
Carver, who intended to speak, chose silence. In the worst case, he would go with Cornelia on Monday. There wouldn't be much fun in playing tricks on the Quinn siblings.
After midnight, the group, having finished all 38 bottles of alcohol, left the bar. It was apparent they had all drunk too much.
Nelly, with her arm around Rita, asked, "Where's your car?"
The Mercedes S was Rubert Drake's, and it had been driven by her earlier. Rita and two classmates had come in Rita's Mercedes C.
However, the car that had been parked on the left side of the entrance was now missing.
Rita's mouth twitched, feeling embarrassed to say that she had just mortgaged the car to pay the bill. "Knowing that we were going to drink a lot, my brother helped me call a designated driver to take the car home. Let's take a taxi."
She also reminded Cornelia, "Remember, go on Monday morning, or you might miss the opportunity."
"Don't worry, I'll make sure to arrive early."
Soon, everyone took taxis and left. Only Carver and his sister, along with Hedy, remained at the entrance.
Cornelia still didn't know about the demolition of their house, and Carver didn't want to tell her. "Cornely, tonight, you and Sister Hedy can go back together. I'll take a taxi home. Also, in these next two days, Sister Hedy should be on break. Ask her to take you to find a place to practice driving and get familiar with it. In a few days, I'll give you a surprise!"
"Sure, I was planning to go to Sister Hedy's place anyway."
She still wanted to persuade Hedy and Carver to be together.
Carver was unaware of his sister's thoughts and said, "Also, if you're going to Ronnie Group on Monday, I'll go with you."
"No need, right?"
Hedy patted Cornelia's head, "Silly girl, let your brother go with you. That Rita isn't a generous person. Your brother made them suffer a bit tonight, so be careful."
Although it seemed unlikely, Cornelia nodded sensibly, "Okay, then Sister Hedy and I will leave first."
Carver called a designated driver for them.
As they got into the car, Cornelia remembered something, "Brother, tomorrow is Nina's engagement day, also at the Golden Crown Hotel. I told Dad that I have extra classes and can't go, but he and Mom will definitely attend. You should go with them, so Uncle's family won't bully Mom and Dad!"
Carver had known about this when he bought the car that day, but he didn't expect it to be at the Golden Crown Hotel. The family named Colin had good financial conditions.
"I got it. Remember to send me a message when you get home."
Watching the car go away, Carver prepared to find a hotel to stay. He couldn't go home now since it had been demolished.
Unexpectedly, Giselle seemed to be waiting, and he quickly drove over. "Handsome guy, need a ride?"
Surprised for a moment, Carver opened the car door and got in, "You weren't waiting near the hotel, were you?"
Giselle pretended to be resentful, "Who told me that I was sent by my grandpa to listen to your commands? Of course, I had to wait, otherwise, if you, big handsome guy, weren't happy, I might lose a layer of skin, right?"
That expression, that tone, made Carver feel like a scumbag who didn't recognize people when he put on pants.
He quickly coughed to change the topic, "Just find me a hotel to stay for a night."
"But I'm hungry!"
"You weren't waiting hungry all this time, were you?"
"What do you think?"
Giselle's "complaining wife" appearance made Carver helpless, "Really big-chested and brainless. Well, you arrange it yourself."
Not long after, Giselle drove into the underground parking lot next to the late-night snack city, with a hotel above.

Getting out of the car, Carver decided to go through the formalities to check in, but Giselle hugged his arm, the curvature deforming, "Don't even think about leaving. I've been hungry while waiting for you. Tonight, you must accompany me."
But Carver suddenly wrapped his arm around her waist, pressing her against the wall. Giselle's face turned red in an instant, "Is it that exciting? Is the car okay?"
Suddenly, there was a loud bang as something hit the car, and the Ferrari sounded a buzzing alarm.
Accompanied by a man's cold laughter, "A beauty with such alertness in her embrace, no wonder she could seriously injure my junior brother!"
