Perhaps there is no true equality between men and women. Some women endure harassment silently, only blaming themselves and inadvertently encouraging the arrogance of those perverted men.
"Pitiable ones must have their hateful aspects."
Isn't that the principle?
Therefore, Tyler Luo really had no intention of helping the woman who didn't seem to seek assistance. It felt like a regrettable lack of fight, a silent indignation.
However, Tyler Luo might have underestimated this woman. Just when he thought she would bear the humiliation in silence, suddenly, a slap sounded.
The middle-aged man attempting to molest her was stunned, but the burning pain on his face reminded him he had indeed been slapped.
"Slut!" he cursed without a second thought, "I work hard every day, and you cheat on me behind my back!"
This sudden accusation from the sleazy man bewildered the woman who had just slapped him: "No, I don't even know you!"
"Shut up! Aren't you ashamed enough? You said you were going to work today, but you were actually going to see your lover. Come home with me!" The bus stopped at the station at this moment, and the middle-aged man reached for the woman's wrist.
The woman was startled, realizing too late to escape.
But then, a hand suddenly reached from behind, grabbing the middle-aged man's wrist.
Despite his quick reaction, the man started cursing: "Adulterer! It's you, shameless!" He tried to pull his hand away, only to find the grip on him surprisingly strong.
"Let go, adulterer!" The man was panicking.
Tyler Luo sneered, "Clearly an old hand at this, you've harmed many women. Daring to make a move on a bus, truly the scum of men."
"Get off me, or I'll call for help!" The man was clearly unshaken but couldn't free his hand, feeling the grip tighten the more he struggled.
Ignoring his words, Tyler Luo turned to the woman beside him, who looked at him gratefully. Passengers around quickly sensed something was wrong and dialed 110.
Seeing the commotion, the middle-aged man grew more agitated, struggling in vain. Out of fury, he aimed a kick at the young man holding him: "Die, bastard!"
The woman beside Tyler Luo screamed in fright, but it was too late to intervene.
However, the expected did not happen. Tyler Luo countered with a kick, sending the man backward. But, as his wrist was still held, he was quickly pulled back. Tyler Luo then kicked the man's knee, forcing him to kneel, unable to stand.
Seeing the scene, the bus driver didn't drive off. The passengers had just called the police, and within less than three minutes, a police car had already arrived.
Abigail Ning stepped out of the police car, heading towards the bus as she had just received a report nearby.
"What happened here?" she asked, boarding the bus with two colleagues.
"Officer, this man touched me on the bus, and then..." the molested woman started explaining.
But the middle-aged man on the ground interrupted loudly: "Officer, don't listen to her. She's cheating on her husband, I caught them red-handed, and this adulterer even dared to hit me!"
"Hmm?" Abigail Ning frowned, scanning from the woman to the middle-aged man on the ground, and finally resting on a young man standing nearby.
Why did he seem familiar?
"Everyone off the bus," she commanded, turning to a colleague, "Get the bus surveillance footage."
"Do I have to go too?" Tyler Luo asked, a bit surprised, especially upon seeing the female officer.
Abigail Ning, with a stern face, insisted: "Everyone off."
"Alright, alright, off it is, no need to be so fierce." Tyler Luo shrugged, surprised to encounter this policewoman here. But having altered his facial muscles that day, he wasn't worried about being recognized.
"Come to the police station with us," said Abigail Ning, visibly stressed and preferring not to handle the case in public.
"That man..." the middle-aged man was visibly scared but couldn't refuse.
Tyler Luo and the woman, Emily Wang, also stepped off, "Thank you just now. I'm Emily Wang, and you?"
"Tyler Luo." He shook her hand, reluctant to let go. He had met many beautiful women, but this one stood out, not just for her looks but her resilience hidden beneath her gentle demeanor. She was about 1.68 meters tall, her shoulder-length hair adding to her charm, with a pleasant scent around her.
"Hannah, take this lady to give her statement. You, come with me," ordered Abigail Ning, with an icy demeanor.
Emily Wang whispered to Tyler Luo, "Sorry for the trouble."
"No worries, you saved yourself. I wouldn't have intervened if you hadn't resisted," Tyler Luo replied with a casual smile, unconcerned about potentially offending her. After all, their meeting was just a chance encounter.
Led away by Abigail Ning, Tyler Luo frowned. This wasn't a place to give a statement; it looked more like an interrogation room.
"Get in!" Abigail Ning pushed him inside without room for resistance.
Tyler Luo hesitated at the door, which made Abigail Ning curious. "Sit down!"
"Yes, yes, yes!" Tyler Luo hurriedly complied, sitting down but appearing tense, trying to seem calm but unable to hide his nervousness.
Could she have mistaken him for someone else? The man in front of her didn't seem like the same person she had encountered before.
Abigail Ning observed Tyler Luo, feeling uncertain. It was strange she couldn't recall the face of the man she met a few days ago. Such forgetfulness was not normal for her.
"What's your name?"
"Tyler Luo, here's my ID."
"Hmm?" Surprised by his cooperation, Abigail Ning grew more skeptical. Maybe they just looked similar. This man lacked the presence of the one she had met before. Even if he could disguise himself, certain inherent qualities couldn't be hidden.
After checking Tyler Luo's ID, she took note and asked, "Tell me what happened."
"It's like this, officer. I was on the bus when I saw that sleazy guy harassing the lady. As the saying goes, 'Aunties can bear it, but uncles can't.' I couldn't just watch, so I confronted him."
Tyler Luo's statement matched the bus surveillance footage. Abigail Ning kept her gaze fixed on him, silent.
