The police's series of announcements, of course, wouldn't make the suspect hiding in the alley surrender. But this added psychological pressure to the suspect. Now that the encirclement had shrunk to a third of the street, the suspect would have no way out in just a few more minutes.
Outside, the police were gradually surrounding the area. Abigail Ning, however, hadn’t made a move yet. The intelligence agent wasn’t high-ranking enough to warrant intervention from her, a captain.
“Everyone, get ready, we must capture him alive!”
Abigail Ning issued the order over the radio.
Just then, a dark figure darted from the other side, noticed by only a few. But the figure was moving so fast, almost unbelievably, catching everyone off guard.
By the time Abigail Ning and others noticed, the figure had already breached the encirclement, and the police officers he encountered were quickly subdued.
"Stop him!" Abigail Ning decisively rushed forward. The intruder was overpowering, too much for the ordinary police to handle.
But by the time Abigail Ning arrived, she only saw police officers wailing on the ground, with no other figure in sight. Even the suspect who had been shot earlier had vanished, obviously having broken through from the rear. Seeing officer after officer on the ground, some even knocked out with a single blow, Abigail Ning's expression turned grave.
Could this person be No. 9 from the mercenary organization Ni Sha?
The core members of Ni Sha numbered only nine, named after Roman numerals. No. 9, despite being the lowest in rank, was powerful enough to be in the top five, the youngest and most ruthless.
Now, Abigail Ning bit her lip, considering the consequences of ordering a pursuit. She thought about the unexpectedly high casualty rate that might result, hesitating. She wanted to catch the suspect more than anyone, but she had to consider the safety of her subordinates. She wouldn't let the suspect escape if safety could be assured.
But in such a dangerous situation, she had to be cautious.
"Immediately get someone to monitor all traffic cameras. We don't need to track anyone; I want to find out if that guy named Tyler Luo in Olympic Sports Park is at home!"
Abigail Ning gave her orders, though she wouldn't directly pursue the two individuals from earlier. However, she had strong suspicions about Tyler Luo.
After her order, police near the target garden immediately went to investigate.
In less than twenty minutes, and despite the twenty-minute drive, the entire surveillance system was activated, including the private security of the garden. If anyone passed by, they could be spotted. Yet, even under such scrutiny, when the police knocked, Tyler Luo actually answered in his pajamas.
"Officers, how can I assist you?" Luo's pajamas were slightly disheveled, his hair a mess, but he was indeed Tyler Luo. The police had seen his photo beforehand and now exchanged glances.
"We're just here to remind the residents to be cautious, given the recent decline in public security," one officer improvised.
In fact, they were quite frightened before arriving. No. 9's reputation was too notorious, even these low-ranking officers knew of it. If Luo was No. 9, they knew their fate.
So, they had come prepared with guns and bulletproof vests, with more than five armed officers hidden in the stairwell.
Fortunately, they could now confirm that Tyler Luo was not No. 9 from Ni Sha.
After Luo closed the door, the officers let out a sigh of relief, signaled their colleagues, and left. The surveillance had been watched continuously, with no suspicious figures or vehicles approaching. So, it was impossible for Abigail Ning to have come from there.
Hearing the report, her expression was a mix of disappointment and relief.
Despite the evidence exonerating Tyler Luo from the night's events, Abigail Ning couldn’t help but instinctively guard against him.
Meanwhile, Luo's expression also turned serious. He picked up the phone and dialed,"Mr. Liang, are you alright?"
"Heh, not dead yet. Thanks to you, I escaped. That Abigail Ning, I don't know how she got wind of me," the man known as Mr. Liang replied weakly, obviously in great pain.
Mr. Liang was the middle-aged man Luo had been drinking with at the bar. He looked older but was actually quite young. Luo hadn't expected that shortly after leaving the bar, Liang would be tracked and caught in Abigail Ning's net. If Luo hadn't intervened, Liang would now be suffering at her hands.
"It's good you're safe. Rest up and lay low for a while. Keep an eye on all movements in Fenghuang City, and I suspect your whereabouts might have been leaked to the police, so be careful."
Tyler Luo lowered his voice. Liang's arrival in Fenghuang City was highly classified, known only to a few in Ni Sha.
Luo suddenly sensed a conspiracy brewing, wondering if he was being paranoid. But it was always better to be cautious. That detective Abigail Ning was formidable, and not to be underestimated.
Remembering how he had flirted with her last time, Luo couldn't help but smile. She was probably suspicious of him now, which was exactly what he wanted.
His next task was to confront Cheng Gang. Since outside forces couldn't intervene, he would co-opt local power for his own use, with Cheng Gang being the prime target.
Setting these thoughts aside, Luo lay on his bed, exhausted from the day. Rubbing his temples, his eyes glowed purple in the dark for a moment, clearly seeing what was happening on the other side of the ceiling.
But a minute later, he winced and closed his eyes. One minute was his limit.
"It's strange, how did I get this ability? I need to get checked out when I have time." Luo wasn't overwhelmed by this sudden change. Even in today's high-tech world, creating such X-ray vision was impossible.
But Luo's eyes could do what technology couldn't, which was both worrying and exciting.
This was an unheard-of phenomenon worldwide, so asking others for answers was likely futile. If word got out, he would become an enemy of the state, with various countries trying to capture him for research.
He was clear about this.
His X-ray vision had to remain a secret, even from his organization. Luo couldn't shake the feeling that Ni Sha had been infiltrated. Though this was baseless, the night's events had heightened his alertness.
There were eight brothers in Ni Sha before Luo. He had been through life and death with them. If he couldn't trust them, Luo couldn't imagine whom he could trust.
The next morning, sunlight filled the room.
Birdsong came from outside, and a natural breeze blew in through the open window, bringing a hint of coolness.
Luo stretched, skillfully rolled out of bed, got dressed after a quick wash, and left. Elizabeth Zhuang had gone out last night, saying she had to work overtime and hadn't returned all night.
Leaving the house, Luo drove the Audi from Baihua Technology to the company parking lot.
"Whether it's good fortune or misfortune, it can't be avoided. I hope the woman I saw last time isn't from this company," Luo mumbled to himself. The security guards in the parking lot looked at him strangely, as if
they were simultaneously despising and envying him.
"Damn, they don’t think I'm a kept man, do they?" Luo wondered internally, but this wasn't easy to explain. Slightly frustrated, he left the elevator and entered the Baihua Technology office,
It was just past 8:30 AM, and the office was already open. There were three separate offices, one of which was a meeting room, while the other two were marked as manager's offices.
"This is awkward." Luo touched his chin, unsure which was Avery Xu's office. He knocked on the door of the lit office, "Ms. Xu, are you there? It’s Tyler Luo."
"Just come in, the door's unlocked," a woman's voice called from inside.
Luo's heart skipped a beat. The voice was familiar yet foreign, but unforgettable. It was the same voice, the same woman's voice, her moans in his ear that night. It was her!
This was trouble!
Luo's expression was priceless. To enter or not?
After a moment of silence inside, Luo, albeit awkwardly, steeled himself and opened the door.
