Similarly, Violet had always retained a deep fear and disgust toward Hayden, the underworld leader, so there was no way she would accept his gift.
Meanwhile, Hayden stared at Baldwin awkwardly when he noticed Violet refused to accept his gift.
Baldwin knew about Violet's refusal and said, "You have already driven the car, so my wife definitely won't want it anymore. She is here today to discuss the project."
Realization dawned on Hayden immediately when he heard Baldwin's words. He put away the car keys and instructed one of his subordinates, who stood behind him. "Bring over all the contracts for this project and let Missus choose as she pleases."
"Noted, Mr. Jiang." His sidekick hurried out.
Violet shook her head, lowered her eyes, and stated, "There's no need for that. I... I don't want to sign the contract anymore."
Baldwin knew Violet didn't want to owe him anything, but she had no idea he owed her this.
Therefore, he gave Hayden a meaningful glance.
Hayden grimaced, voicing, "Violet, Baldwin will definitely settle the score with me later if you don't sign the contract now. I may be in a wheelchair when you see me again."
After speaking, Hayden threw meaningful glances at his dozens of underlings, too.
They understood his words tacitly as they quickly begged Violet sincerely,
"Violet, please sign the contract and have mercy on Mr. Jiang.
"He's right, Violet. If you don't sign it, Baldwin will never forgive Mr. Jiang."

Dozens of men tried to get their words in, pleading with Violet. She felt mixed emotions surging within her. Initially, she was the one who begged for the Fenghao Project to sign with her. But now, they pleaded for her cooperation in return, and all this was thanked to Baldwin, the man who disgusted her and whom she feared.
Violet was a soft-hearted person, so ultimately, she nodded.
Soon, the contract was brought before her, but Violet was not greedy. She only chose a project suitable for the Qin Group, and the Qin Group would earn a huge profit once the project was completed.
Next, Hayden took Violet and Baldwin to the construction site personally, allowing her to inspect all aspects of the project.
Violet took her job seriously, so to make notes about this project, she didn't even eat lunch. This caused Hayden to lose his chance of buying her a meal to apologize. And so he could only follow Violet around with his subordinates while starving.
Hayden and Baldwin walked behind her. The former whispered, "Baldwin, why have I searched all the prisons in Haihua City and surrounding areas and still been unable to locate you?"
Baldwin stared at Violet's back upon hearing Hayden's question. "I will tell you about this later."
He had only stayed in the detention center for a month, and then he was secretly enrolled into the special forces. Until now, he still didn't know who got him out of prison and why the person had done so.
Judging from Baldwin's reaction, Hayden guessed that Baldwin didn't want Violet to know too much, so he asked again, "Is Violet the woman who was drugged back then?"
Baldwin nodded. "Did you find out about anything during the past eight years?"
Hayden nodded, voicing, "It's the Overlord of West Tiger's son, Perry Chen. You crippled one of his legs back then, so he masterminded this whole plan."
"Back then, Violet was the apple of the Qin Family's eye, and we were not yet able to contend with the Qin Family. So, Perry asked Violet's classmates to invite her out for a karaoke session and then secretly drugged her drink."
"He not only bribed some of Violet's female classmates, but he also bribed one of our underlings."
Baldwin's expression turned gloomy and scary. He snorted coldly, "Oh, so that was it. It seemed like the Overlord of West Tiger should disappear from Haihua City."
During that fateful night, Baldwin went for a karaoke and drinking session with gangsters like Hayden and more when he was halfway through his drink, an underling mentioned introducing someone to Baldwin.
And so, the muddleheaded Baldwin walked into another room. It was empty, and the underling told Baldwin to wait for a moment before leaving.
After Baldwin drank half a bottle of a beverage, his body suddenly became hot. It was then he noticed a woman huddled in the dark corner of the room.
The drug caused Baldwin to lose his rationality. However, the woman didn't struggle, and he saw the tears on the woman's face through the dim light.
Several police officers burst in through the door after the woman got dressed in her messy clothes and left.
Now that Baldwin recalled the events of the night, he realized the reckless and unfearing Perry set him up.
Hayden stared at Baldwin's gloomy face, reporting, "I've already fed the underling who betrayed us to the dogs. I've yet to do anything to Perry and those classmates of Violet."
Baldwin nodded. He spoke. "Don't worry. Since I'm back, then... no rules will be able to bind me."
Hayden was stunned before enthusiasm and passion glinted in his eyes. He mused, "The madman from all those years ago is finally back!"
Over the past eight years, Baldwin had gradually become a King of Soldiers and now the God of War in the army. He was a major general who was only 26 years old.
Without the constraints of the army, Baldwin didn't have to abide by any rules and regulations. He chose to rise in Haihua City first. After all, he had to be influential and powerful in order to complete his secret mission. If not, he would placed in a passive position.

At this moment, in a huge villa in Beijing, China, an older man with gray hair who looked physically strong was sitting on a large wooden chair in a spacious room filled with simple and aged wooden furniture.
Although he was old, his dark eyes were still bright. The older man exuded an aura that gave others pressure even though he looked calm. It was evident that the older man used to be a soldier.
Before him was a handsome man in his forties wearing a black tunic suit, who stood rigidly straight.
These two men were well-known figures in China. Although the older man was nearly eighty years old, he still served as a senior general in the Chinese army.
His name was Reggie Ye, known as the Azure Dragon of China. He was the Marshal of Azure Dragon, part of the Five Tigers Sect of China.
The middle-aged man named Sid Ye was Reggie Ye's only son and a candidate for being the next Marshal of Azure Dragon.
There were five major military regions throughout China. The five marshals were Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, Black Tortoise, and Kirin. Each led their military teams and guarded the vast territory of China.
"Dad, he has been expelled from the army. Do we need to inform the other party?" Sid told Reggie respectfully.
Reggie shook his head. "He belongs to the Bloody Wolf Special Forces, which is an establishment excluded from the Five Armies. Moreover, at his rank, no one can fire him unless the high level personally gives the order."
Sid was stunned before saying, "Do you mean he is carrying out a mission?"
Reggie nodded and then sighed. "They dispatched the top King of Soldiers secretly to the city. It seemed like his mission is related to that organization."
Worry became evident in Sid's eyes when he heard that. "They've gone overboard. Even him... might not be able to defeat the organization."
Reggie sighed again. "We can't get involved, but we can provide him with some assistance. In addition, the girl from the Luo Family is still in Haihua City, right?"
Sid nodded. "She is now the chairman of a company, with assets under her exceeding tens of billions."
Hearing this, a trace of regret flashed across Reggie's eyes. He sighed. "Alas... What a pity. I heard that the girl from the Luo family is a stunner and has the title of being China's most beautiful woman. At first, she was going to be my granddaughter-in-law."
Sid looked upset. He asked, "Dad, now that things have turned out this way, have you ever regretted abandoning him?"
Reggie furrowed his brows, saying solemnly, "Sid, you have violated a big taboo by marrying that woman and allowing her to join the Ye Family. The Ye Family would have been kicked out of the Five Tigers Sect if it weren't for my prestige and reputation."
"Moreover, that woman abandoned you and left your one-month-old son with you. This will undoubtedly cause the organization to target the Ye Family excessively. Therefore, it is also for his own good to send him away."
"After all, that organization will never allow the son of the saint to survive in this world."
Sid felt bitter as sadness filled his eyes. He mused, "We... stayed together because we love each other. For her, I am willing to sacrifice everything and do everything I can to protect her."
However, he let her down. Not only did Sid fail to protect her, he couldn't even acknowledge his own son.
Reg noticed how distressed Sid was. He sighed. "Sid, give him some time. Maybe he can achieve what everyone else could not. By then, we can accept him into the family publicly and legitimately."
Sid's expression got even gloomier. "I'm afraid he will not want to acknowledge us as his family then."
Hearing this, Reggie furrowed his brows. He had abandoned Baldwin mercilessly twenty-six years ago while he was still an infant under one-month-old.
All of this happened because of a couple who should not have fallen in love, and the baby had to endure those sufferings because of the couple.
Sid spoke, "He is the God of War in the army and the pride of China. However, Ford once said that he has an elusive temperament and is unfettered. Who knows what kind of crazy stuff he will do in the city after escaping from the restraint of the army? I only hope... that he will not offend those god-like humans."
