chapter 2 Quack ===

Adrian was pushed by Sylvan, and his face immediately turned gloomy.
"So, you're her son, right? I called for half an hour earlier, but no one answered. Now you come here pretending to be filial? You should have come earlier with the money to sign for the surgery. Your mother wouldn't have died. But now, she's already gone, and you're here causing trouble for what?"
"I despise children like you the most, pretending to be filial only after your parents have passed away. You couldn't even provide them a decent meal when they were alive, but now you're burning paper like crazy…"
Adrian kept on rambling beside them, and even the nurses couldn't bear it anymore.
If the nurse hadn't heard what Adrian had said just now, she might have been deceived by his "self-righteous" appearance.
Sylvan completely ignored him and focused on giving his mother an injection.
"Young man, are you deaf?"
Seeing that he was being ignored, Adrian became even angrier as he looked at his shabby clothes. He angrily shouted, "What are you doing here causing all this mess? This is disrespectful to the deceased!"
"This is the ICU ward, not a place where anyone can just barge in!"
"Security, where's the security? Take this guy out immediately and make sure he pays all the expenses. If he dares to refuse, call the police and have him arrested!"
"Hey, I'm talking to you! Stop it, damn it!"
Adrian's lips trembled with anger as he pointed at Sylvan and cursed loudly.
Sylvan finally finished administering the injection and let out a sigh of relief.
For Sylvan, his mother's acute cerebral infarction was nothing compared to his current ability.
But it was still fortunate that he arrived in time. If he had been any later, it could have been a real threat to her life.
His mother had raised him, scrimping and saving all these years. Even when she wasn't feeling well, she endured it and kept it hidden from Sylvan.
When he called Begonia earlier to look for himself, she must have already been severely dizzy!
Sylvan looked at his mother's hair, now streaked with gray, and his eyes gradually filled with tears.
Mom, from now on, I will make sure you have a good life!
"Nurse, please help connect the equipment for my mother," Sylvan whispered to the nurse beside him.
"Connect the equipment? For a dead person? Stop it, I want to see who dares to touch her!" Adrian sneered coldly.
The nurse pursed her lips, looked at Sylvan's sincere and reddened eyes, gritted her teeth, and took the risk of offending Adrian to connect the equipment for Jasmine.
"So, you don't want to work anymore, huh!" Adrian's eyes narrowed as he coldly shouted.
At this moment, the hospital security finally rushed in and grabbed Sylvan's shoulder, attempting to lift him up, but found that he stood firm like a mountain, unmoved.
"Let go!"
Sylvan's shoulder trembled, causing the two security guards to take two steps back from the impact.
They were just following orders, and Sylvan hadn't made any aggressive moves.
Sylvan coldly looked at Adrian and said, "You, incompetent doctor, you almost killed my mother!"
"I killed her? When she was brought in, her heart had already stopped beating. If she could come back to life, I would give up my position as the director to you…"
Adrian was in the middle of speaking when suddenly, the pointer on the equipment that represented the heartbeat, which Sylvan had just connected for Jasmine, slightly fluctuated. Shortly after, it quickly returned to a normal heartbeat!
"She… she's alive?" Adrian was stunned.
Sylvan made a sweeping gesture, retracting the silver needles from Lute's body. As he put away the needle kit, Lute gradually woke up and saw Sylvan by her side. She quickly sat up and asked, "Son, where am I?"
"Mom, you were brought to the ICU ward. Can you please take better care of yourself and let me know if anything is wrong earlier?"
Sylvan sniffed and grinned, holding Jasmine's hand.
If he hadn't inherited the ancient medical techniques of his family, his mother would have been truly lost under the hands of an incompetent doctor like Adrian!
"ICU? Is it expensive here? Son, am I sick? How much does it cost?" Jasmine became a little nervous.
Jasmine single-handedly raised Sylvan, and they lived a very difficult life. She was most afraid of falling ill and having to spend money on hospital expenses.
When Sylvan was young, he would often hear Jasmine's suppressed coughing late at night. She was so sick, but she couldn't bear to go to the hospital.
But whenever Sylvan had a minor ailment, she would immediately bring him to the hospital, anxiously worried about any potential complications!
"It's alright, Mom. You're already fine. Let's go home," Sylvan grinned.
Not only did he cure Jasmine's acute cerebral infarction, but he also cleared her meridians, making her healthier than any ordinary person.
Why should he stay here and endure Adrian's unpleasant face?
"Alright, let's go home. My minor ailments don't require a hospital visit… Oh, by the way, where's Begonia?" Jasmine paused.
"She… she's at work," Sylvan didn't plan on telling Lute about the situation. He would handle that pair of adulterers himself!
As they spoke, Jasmine got out of bed and felt a refreshing sensation throughout her body.
"Halt! You can't leave. Settle all the expenses before you go!"
Adrian blocked their way, speaking coldly.
"Doctor, how much is it?" Lute asked.
"Not much, just around ten thousand dollars. You two, come with me to the payment counter on the first floor and settle it, then they can be released," Adrian nodded towards the two security guards.
"What?! Ten thousand dollars?!" Jasmine was instantly shocked.
"Why should it cost so much?" Sylvan frowned.
"Much? Do you think this is some ordinary place? This is the most authoritative central hospital in Jimweiminster, and I am the most authoritative expert in neurology. Do you know that if it weren't for the enormous manpower and medication expenses I incurred, your mother would have died long ago?" Adrian threw a thick stack of bills at Sylvan.
Sylvan quickly glanced at the bills and his face immediately darkened. "Do you think you can fool me like a fool?"
"Some people always think they're smarter than the doctors," Adrian sneered. "Pay up quickly and don't try to avoid the bill!"
Sylvan became furious and lifted Adrian up, slamming him against the wall. "You're insulting the medical profession with your behavior!"
"Put me down! Call the police! Call them now!" Adrian panicked, his face filled with fear.
Despite Adrian's weight of around one hundred and seventy pounds, Sylvan was able to effortlessly lift him with just one hand.
No matter how much he struggled, Sylvan remained unmoved.
What kind of terrifying strength was this?
"Fine, call them. Let's see who the police will arrest!" Sylvan sneered and threw the thick stack of bills in Adrian's face. "My mother had an acute cerebral infarction, and you diagnosed it as a myocardial infarction? And all these medications you prescribed are expensive imported drugs not covered by insurance!"
"Son, put him down first. Let's talk it out," Jasmine said anxiously.
Regardless of the situation, assaulting someone was against the law.
Jasmine, who had lived her life diligently and honestly, was afraid that Sylvan had made a mistake.
Seeing Jasmine's intervention, Sylvan was worried about accidentally hurting his mother, so he released Adrian.
"Cough!" Adrian held his throat, coughing incessantly.
He was completely dumbfounded and speechless.
He had initially thought that Sylvan and Jasmine, dressed in cheap clothes, were ignorant people from the countryside.
He often did this to earn commissions from the hospital.
But today, Sylvan saw through his scheme and exposed him on the spot.
If the police really came and investigated him… his medical career would be completely ruined!
At this moment, a Rolls-Royce Phantom suddenly stopped outside the hospital gate.
The car door suddenly opened, and a beautiful face appeared in front of everyone.
The young girl appeared to be around seventeen or eighteen years old, with flawless delicate cheeks that were impossible to find fault with. Her waist-length black silk hair cascaded down, complementing her curvaceous figure, which was both alluring and captivating. She was breathtakingly beautiful.
However, her face was filled with anxiety at the moment.
"Doctor! Doctor! Please save my grandfather!"
Two burly men in black carefully carried an elderly man in traditional Tang attire out of the car. Surrounded by a group of doctors and nurses, he was quickly pushed into the operating room.
A nurse who was following closely whispered to Adrian, "Director Peter, this old man was brought here in a Rolls-Royce!"
Adrian's breath skipped a beat upon hearing this.
Only the wealthy and influential could afford to ride in a Rolls-Royce!
"Quickly gather all the hospital experts and conduct a comprehensive diagnosis for the old man!"
Adrian couldn't afford to be negligent, but he was also afraid of taking responsibility…
Before the nurse could run out to inform others, Sylvan had already taken out his silver needle kit, preparing to administer acupuncture!
According to the ancestral teachings of the Ancient Medical Lineage, Sylvan couldn't ignore those in need.
"What are you doing?!" Adrian rushed forward, pointing at Sylvan's face and shouting, "Do you think you're your mother? Your mother is dead, but if you harm the old man, you won't be able to bear the responsibility!"
Sylvan glared fiercely at Adrian. "By the time you gather all your so-called experts, the old man will already be dead!"
Adrian's disdainful voice came through, "You think you're a divine doctor just because you randomly stuck a few needles in your mother? You think you can diagnose the patient without conducting any examinations?"
The stunning girl heard their conversation and exclaimed, "What's wrong with your hospital? I don't care who the attending physician is, but you must immediately treat my grandfather! If anything happens to him, none of you will get away with it!"
Upon hearing this, Adrian's face turned even uglier.
The more the other party spoke like this, the more he dared not take on the responsibility!
Adrian quickly said to a nearby nurse, "Arrange for an examination in the intensive care unit immediately. I'll contact Dean Simon right away."
"The situation is critical, and we must administer acupuncture right away," Sylvan said solemnly.
The stunning girl looked at Sylvan, who wasn't even wearing a white coat, and pointed at him, asking Adrian, "Who is he?"
"He's an intern at our hospital," Adrian replied with a half-smile.
"What?! You let an intern treat my grandfather?!" The stunning girl's voice rose a few notches.
Adrian broke out in a cold sweat and quickly tried to appease her with a smile. "Please don't get agitated. I've already contacted Dean Simon from our hospital, and he will be here soon."
"Cough, cough, cough!"
At that moment, the old man suddenly started coughing violently, spewing out mouthfuls of blood. The instruments attached to him began beeping urgently.
Everyone present had a drastic change in their expressions.
"Save my grandfather quickly! If anything happens to him, I will tear down your hospital!" The stunning girl hysterically shouted.
Adrian's face turned pale, and he stared at the old man, unable to make a move.
This was a situation he couldn't handle.
In reality, Adrian was nothing more than a mediocre doctor.
Sylvan couldn't worry about all of this. He quickly approached the old man and began taking his pulse, his eyebrows furrowing.
"We can't delay any longer. The old man's meridians are blocked throughout his body. If we don't act within five minutes, his meridians will rupture, and he will die!" Sylvan said.
Adrian's eyes widened like bells.
Did he need to tell me how long the old man could hold on?
But the problem was, who at the scene dared to perform surgery on the old man?
Without even conducting a proper examination, what if something went wrong as soon as he started? How would they handle it?
Unexpectedly, Sylvan rolled up his sleeves and prepared to administer acupuncture to the old man.
"What are you doing?!" The stunning girl was taken aback and anxiously asked.
Adrian also shouted sternly, "Sylvan! Are you trying to get yourself killed? You're just an intern now. Do you dare to treat a patient without having all the examination data? Who will take responsibility if something goes wrong?!"
Sylvan shouted back, "I will take responsibility for any problems that arise. The old man's condition is critical, and we can't waste a single moment!"
"You can't bear this responsibility!" Adrian almost yelled out. He was desperate.
If Sylvan accidentally killed the old man, he could just walk away without any consequences. But Adrian would be finished!
The stunning girl was on the verge of tears. Her grandfather's condition was becoming more and more critical, and he couldn't hold on much longer!
With so many doctors and nurses present, none of them dared to treat her grandfather.
Could it be… could they really let an intern step in to save her grandfather?
"How… how confident are you?" The stunning girl's voice trembled.
"Ninety percent," Sylvan replied calmly, but in fact, he was a hundred percent confident!
"Nonsense! Given the old man's condition, even if the two hospital directors were here, they wouldn't dare claim to have a ninety percent chance!" Adrian pointed at Sylvan angrily and shouted, "Put down your useless needles!"
Sylvan ignored Adrian and instead looked calmly at the stunning girl. "What do you say? Save him or not?"
The stunning girl bit her lip tightly and, after a few moments, her eyes became determined. "Save him!"
"But if anything happens to my grandfather because of you, I will make sure you suffer a gruesome death!"
Sylvan took a deep breath and prepared to administer the needles.
"Sylvan! What are you trying to do? Do you want the entire hospital to suffer along with you, you useless waste?!" Adrian shouted.
"Get lost! If you have the ability, why don't you save my grandfather?" The stunning girl became angry, her beautiful eyes glaring at Adrian.
Adrian's face turned as ugly as if he had eaten shit, and he turned red with frustration.
Meanwhile, Sylvan closed his eyes slowly, his fingers dancing. Thirteen silver needles were swiftly inserted into the old man's acupoints.
The stunning girl's eyes widened in astonishment.
"This… this technique is the long-lost Ghost Gate Thirteen Needles?!"
