chapter 12 :Marriage Agreement

In the following days, Ava An didn't leave the house. She was temporarily staying at Emily Song's house, spending her days making cheongsams. It was five days later when she calculated that Ethan Ye should be returning from his business trip. She finally put aside her cheongsam work and called him.

"Hello," Ethan Ye's indifferent voice came through the cold receiver into Ava An's ear.

Ava An took a deep breath silently, without any pleasantries. She got straight to the point, "I'm Ava An. I've considered what you said earlier, and I agree to marry you."

Upon hearing Ava An's carefully considered response, Ethan Ye seemed unsurprised, as if he had expected this answer all along. He responded with a nonchalant "Hmm."

"Where are you? I'd like to meet and discuss the marriage," Ava An made her decision clear. She felt a strange sense of relief after making the choice, making the subsequent conversation flow more naturally.

"At Ye Lan," Ethan Ye mentioned a location and added, "I'll send you the address."

After ending the call, Ava An received a text message with the address shortly afterward. She grabbed her bag and left.

Ye Lan was an upscale club, not the kind of low-end nightclub or bar but a high-end business club. It was well-known in S City, and being a member here was a source of pride for the upper echelons of society. After all, just the annual membership fee alone reached seven figures. Those who could access this place were either rich or influential, and it symbolized status and identity.

The address sent by Ethan Ye was detailed, specifying the room he was in. Ava An entered the club and easily found room 8888. She gently knocked on the door.

The person who opened the door for her was Ethan Ye. He was quite tall, and Ava An smiled up at him. However, Ethan Ye's response was devoid of expression. He turned to the others in the room and said, "You guys carry on."

Then he walked out of the room and said, "Follow me," leading Ava An upstairs and into another room.

Ava An casually glanced around the room, which resembled a hotel room and seemed to be where Ethan Ye rested.

"Have a seat," Ethan Ye sat on the sofa and gestured for Ava An to sit across from him.

Ava An sat down, knowing that Ethan Ye was not one for small talk. She handed him the prenuptial agreement she had prepared, saying, "This is a prenuptial agreement drafted by my lawyer. Take a look. If there are no issues, we can sign it according to this agreement. If there are problems, I'll have the lawyer make changes."

Ethan Ye's deep, unreadable eyes flickered slightly at the mention of the "prenuptial agreement." However, he didn't reach out to examine it and remained silent.

Seeing his continued silence, Ava An couldn't help muttering, "What kind of person is this? Can't he speak when there's something important? Being silent all the time makes it hard for me to guess. I'm not familiar with him."

"In fact, there's nothing crucial in the agreement. Should I explain it to you?" After a moment of silence, Ava An gave in and asked tentatively.

"Sure," Ethan Ye leaned back on the sofa, one arm resting on the armrest, and his forehead propped up, giving a straightforward response.

Ava An resisted the urge to scold him and controlled her temper as she explained, "The agreement mainly covers two areas. One is about pre-marital property. I don't have much property; I only have a house in my hometown of Su Cheng. I used to have a 10% stake in the An Group, but a few days ago, I exchanged it for a store and a clothing brand. The brand is currently worthless, and the store might be worth a few million. These are all my assets, and they are all included in the agreement.

The other part is about the details of our marriage. I need a grand engagement ceremony, preferably after the start of spring next year, and a grand wedding ceremony. The wedding date will be discussed separately. We cannot divorce or have affairs within a year, and there should be no rumors of you being involved with other women. It's best to create the illusion that we have a good relationship in public.

That's mainly it. Regarding your property, it will remain your personal possession even after marriage. If we ever divorce, you won't have to split it with me. Is there anything in this agreement that you're not satisfied with?"

Ava An's speech was neither fast nor slow, her voice was neither high nor low, and her tone was very formal. It didn't seem like she was discussing marriage matters with her soon-to-be husband but rather like she was negotiating a business agreement with someone else.
