chapter 3 If cured, I will give you five million

"Father, how is Mom?" Alexander Xu asked his father anxiously as he approached him in the hospital corridor.
"Just now, the doctor examined her. Thankfully, it's just due to exhaustion. She needs some rest," Alan Xu explained, though he still bore a deep worry in his expression.
"That's a relief," Alexander Xu sighed in relief.
Just then, a middle-aged man in a suit rushed to the corridor and shouted loudly, "Whoever can save my father, I'll give them five million! As long as you can save my father, I won't go back on my word. Everyone here can witness it!"
This man's words immediately caused a stir, attracting the attention of everyone nearby. People with or without the ability to help crowded around, curious to see what was happening.
Even Alexander Xu felt tempted, after all, it was five million!
With that money, his parents wouldn't have to work at the roadside stall anymore.
Thinking about it, Alexander Xu informed his father and joined the crowd.
Inside the hospital room, a group of neurologists surrounded an elderly man. The old man had his eyes closed, lying on the bed, seemingly lifeless, with inaudible moans escaping his lips.
After a while, one of the doctors came out and said helplessly to the middle-aged man waiting outside, "Mr. Su, we just re-examined him, but the situation remains the same. He exhibits classic symptoms of being in a vegetative state, which is quite unusual. I'm afraid even if experts from the capital come here, it won't make a difference."
This man was Dr. Elvis Zhao, the chief neurologist at the First People's Hospital of Donghai City. He was a highly skilled surgeon with overseas training.
Although he phrased it diplomatically, the conclusion was grim – there was no hope for the patient. The old man was beyond treatment.
"I don't care!" The middle-aged man turned red in the face and pointed at Elvis Zhao angrily, threatening, "My father was perfectly fine when he arrived here. How did he end up like this under your care? You must make him better, and you owe me an explanation. Otherwise, I'll make sure you can't continue working here!"
The middle-aged man had immense confidence, and he didn't seem to hold the hospital director in high regard, reflecting his considerable influence.
Among the onlookers, there were some sharp-eyed individuals who recognized the middle-aged man's identity. They exclaimed, "Isn't that Gary Su? And the old man on the hospital bed is his father, Hale Su, the patriarch of the Su family!"
"Su family? Which Su family are you talking about?" Some people were still puzzled.
"Which Su family could it be? How many Su families dare to call themselves that in Donghai City?"
"Are you talking about the Su family that controls the entire northern district of Donghai City, one of the four major families?"
"Couldn't be anyone else."
Hearing the mention of the Su family, the crowd started buzzing with discussion, albeit with a hint of fear in their voices.
In Donghai City, not many dared to cross paths with the Su family, as they were known for their wealth and power, with influence that extended to both legal and illegal domains.
Yet, despite their significant influence, Hale Su, the patriarch of the Su family, lay on his deathbed, on the brink of passing away.
"But I really have no way to help. At least, I can't treat him. You should seek another opinion," Elvis Zhao replied, his tone filled with helplessness.
If there was a solution, he would have pursued it.
Moreover, the five million was a tempting sum!
Seeing Elvis Zhao's response, Mr. Su could only push him aside, muttering "useless," and turned to the crowd. He shouted, "Is there anyone who can save my father? I'll give them five million! I won't go back on my word. The reputation of the Su family is my guarantee!"
"I can't do it, so who else can?" Elvis Zhao shrugged, feeling disdainful but not saying it out loud.
Among the onlookers, no one dared to step forward. While they were curious and willing to spectate, getting involved themselves was a different matter. They knew that if the hospital's chief neurologist couldn't do anything, there was no one in the entire Donghai City who could.
Indeed, in the entire Donghai City, if Dr. Elvis Zhao couldn't do it, there really was no hope.
However, just as Gary Su was about to give up and consider other options, an abrupt voice broke the silence, saying, "I'll give it a try."
Gary Su was taken aback, and he quickly looked around the crowd to find the source of the voice.
"If curing him is worth five million, then I'll give it a try."
Everyone followed the voice and cleared a path for Alexander Xu. He walked confidently, holding the "Divine Healers Scriptures" in his hand.
He had noticed a mysterious power circulating within him, particularly when it came to treating illnesses. Alexander Xu was unusually confident in this regard and saw this as an opportunity to test it.
Of course, the five million was also a significant incentive.
Seeing Alexander Xu's appearance, which resembled that of a laborer, Elvis Zhao couldn't hide his contempt and said coldly, "Who are you, and how dare you make such bold claims? Do you even know what illness Su's family head has? I advise you to assess your own abilities and not overestimate yourself!"
Alexander Xu didn't pay much attention to Elvis Zhao's disdain. He replied calmly, "I will have no problem curing Mr. Su."
Elvis Zhao couldn't help but laugh. He had been a neurologist for twenty years and had performed thousands of surgeries, big and small. He was confident that, in all of Donghai City, there was no one more skilled in this field than him.
Moreover, this was a young man with little experience.
Even he couldn't find a solution, so what made this young man think he had the confidence?
"Confidence? Haha, what hospital are you from?" Elvis Zhao asked.
"I'm not a doctor, but I have studied this field," Alexander Xu replied.
"Do you have a medical license then?"
"I don't."
"You don't have a medical license, yet you dare to practice medicine? Who gave you the audacity? Are you willing to take responsibility if something goes wrong?"
Elvis Zhao was sneering, wondering how someone without proper credentials could claim to treat patients.
Seeing that Alexander Xu was not a licensed doctor, Gary Su also grew concerned. He looked at Alexander Xu with suspicion, hesitating to let him proceed.
Noticing Gary Su’s hesitation, Alexander Xu reminded him, "Mr. Su, your father's condition can't afford any delays. I said I'm confident, and I truly am. But if we keep waiting, it might be too late, even if God was to arrive. Time is of the essence."
Gary Su, though still unsure, asked, "Are you really sure? If you're trying to deceive me, you should know the consequences, right?"
Alexander Xu nodded, saying, "As long as you don't renege on the five million."
Hearing this, Elvis Zhao interjected, "Mr. Su, this young man doesn't even have a medical license. He might be using unconventional methods he learned somewhere. You shouldn't trust him."
"Even I can't treat your father's illness, what else can this young man do? Are you hoping he'll get lucky like a blind cat stumbling upon a dead mouse?"
The way Elvis Zhao's speaking, it seems like he's already convinced that Gary Su’s father is beyond saving. Gary Su angrily rebuked, "Shut up! If you can't help, then get out of my way. Don't dare to wish death upon my father again, or you'll regret it!"
Seeing Gary Su's anger, Elvis Zhao, though annoyed, didn't dare to say more. He warned one last time, "Fine, I won't stop you. But let it be known, if something goes wrong, it's not my responsibility."
Gary Su, although angered, knew that this was not the time to argue. He turned to Alexander Xu and asked, "Are you really capable? You won't deceive me, will you?"
"As long as we don't delay any longer," Alexander Xu replied calmly.
"In that case, please go ahead! If you can really cure my father's illness, even if it's just to temporarily avert a life-threatening situation, I'll pay the five million as promised."
Alexander Xu nodded and entered the hospital room. He approached Hale Su's bedside, carefully observing his condition.
Suddenly, a piece of information appeared in Alexander Xu's mind:
Current condition of the patient: Comatose.
Cause of illness: Poisoned by "Obsessed Powder," a rare and deadly toxin that is colorless and odorless, making it difficult to detect.
Treatment method: "Nine Revival Acupuncture" from the "Divine Healers Scriptures."
"Ah, I see now," Alexander Xu muttered to himself.
Without hesitation, he instructed a nearby nurse, "Please fetch me a box of silver needles, quickly, there's no time to waste!"
Although the nurse was puzzled, she didn't dare to delay and hurriedly fetched a box of silver needles for Alexander Xu.
"Silver needles? Acupuncture?" Elvis Zhao couldn't believe it. "You're using acupuncture, a deceptive traditional Chinese medicine trick? Are you really trying to kill Mr. Su?"
Ignoring Elvis Zhao's remarks, Alexander Xu took a silver needle, moved swiftly, and inserted it into Hale Su's Baihui acupoint...
