"Take out your four dentures and put in four new ones of the same material, and you won't have headaches and tinnitus anymore," Stanley Du said with a smile.
Everyone was completely puzzled.
Could changing dentures really cure tinnitus and headaches?
This looks pretty unreliable!
"This is impossible!"
Patrick Li questioned Stanley Du, "I study medicine too, and I've never heard of treating headaches and tinnitus by changing dentures."
"Which university are you from?"
"Medical University in Province A."
"A prestigious domestic university, you are much better than me. I'm from Ning City University Medical College, about to be a senior."
"So you haven't graduated yet." Patrick Li looked down on Stanley Du a bit, "Curing tinnitus by changing dentures, did you just make that up?"
Stanley Du wasn't angry and replied with a smile, "Let me ask you, if two different metals are put in a cup of water and rub against each other, will they become electrified? Will they create a magnetic field?"
Patrick Li was stunned for a moment, then suddenly slapped his forehead and exclaimed, "So that's it, such a simple principle. How did I not think of that?"
"What are you guys even talking about?" Michael Li asked with a puzzled face.
"It's like this, Grandma has four dentures in her mouth made of different metals. When these different metals rub together, they get electrified, and the saliva in the mouth conducts electricity. This tiny electric current disrupts grandma's physiological magnetic field, so she has headaches and tinnitus."
Hearing Patrick Li's explanation, Michael Li and Randall Chen both understood.
"Mom, let's find the best dentist tomorrow and change your dentures."
"Okay, I trust Dr. Du's diagnosis is correct."
At that moment, several waitresses brought in over a dozen delicious dishes.
Dongpo pork knuckle, a couple's sliced beef in chili sauce, pocket tofu, and boiled cabbage, all high-end Sichuan cuisine dishes.
Madam Chen took a bite of the boiled cabbage and immediately put down her chopsticks.
Patrick Li tried the couple's sliced beef in chili sauce and frowned slightly.
Randall Chen tasted the Dongpo pork knuckle and, with a dark face, called over a waitress, "The taste of these dishes today is off. Did you change the chef? Where is Chef Wang?"
"Chef Wang took a day off today and didn't come to work."
The waitress cautiously said, "Chef Zhang cooked these dishes."
"Damn, I paid top dollar for second-rate food."
Randall Chen scoffed, "Is this how your Harmony Restaurant does business?"
The waitress didn't dare to respond.
Just then, two women walked in.
One in her forties, graceful and dignified.
The other is in her early twenties, tall and beautiful.
The young and beautiful woman was stunned when she saw Stanley Du.
Stanley Du recognized her too.
Hedy Yao, the talented girl from Ning City University's School of Journalism.
Hedy Yao was always the top choice for a female host at Ning City University's events.
The reason Hedy Yao knew Stanley Du was because his calligraphy was even better than hers, despite her practicing it for fifteen years since childhood.
However, even though they knew each other, they weren't close.
So, they simply pretended not to know each other.
"Mr. Chen, what has made you so angry?" The dignified woman in her forties asked with a smile.
Randall Chen didn't respond.
The waitress quickly explained Randall Chen's dissatisfaction.
The woman in her forties was Hedy Yao's mother, Ina Yao.
She was the chairman of the Harmony Restaurant chain of restaurants.
"Mr. Chen, Mr. Li, I am very sorry. It's our Ning City branch's chef who didn't cook the dishes well, disappointing you."
Ina Yao spoke very respectfully, "When you return to the provincial city, please make time to visit our Harmony Restaurant's main branch there. I'll treat you to authentic boiled cabbage and Dongpo pork knuckle."
"Ah, we've been friends with Mrs. Yao for many years. You know how picky our tastes are."
Michael Li laughed, "Do you have any better chefs here? If so, we're willing to pay them to cook another meal for us."
Ina Yao shook her head.
"Well then, let's just make do and eat a bit."
"If Mr. Li doesn't mind, I can cook a few Sichuan dishes for you to try," Stanley Du offered.
Before Michael Li could respond, Hedy Yao interjected in surprise, "You know how to cook Sichuan cuisine?"
"My cooking skills should be a bit better than Chef Zhang, who cooked these dishes," he said.
"Oh? Dr. Du is quite confident. I'm looking forward to your cooking. Please go ahead," Old Lady Chen said with a smile.
Next, a waitress escorted Stanley Du to the kitchen.
Before long, rich aromas wafted from the kitchen, filling the entire restaurant.
"Wow, who's cooking? It smells amazing!"
"I've eaten at Harmony Restaurant many times, but I've never smelled such rich food aromas. It's so tempting."
"Could it be that Harmony Restaurant has brought in a great chef? Tsk, such a rich aroma. The taste must be amazing!"
The customers in the restaurant were all talking.
Meanwhile, in Room 8, Michael Li and the others had their appetites whetted.
A few minutes later, a series of dishes were brought to the table.
"He cooks fast, and the presentation is nice. The aroma is super strong. Just not sure about the taste yet," Ina Yao mumbled to herself.
"I've never seen these dishes before," Hedy Yao murmured. "Are these Sichuan dishes?"
Before Stanley Du could explain, Old Lady Chen couldn't help but exclaim, "This... this is Fish and Mutton Stew. Chefs who can cook this dish are rare nowadays. And this Crystal Crispy Fish Soup, this Silver Lung Soup with Cabbage Dumplings, they're all long-lost famous Sichuan dishes!"
Everyone was astonished again, not expecting Stanley Du to know such long-lost famous dishes.
"Ma’am Chen, you really are well-informed. Are you a professional food critic?" Stanley Du asked curiously.
"Hehe, I was the editor of 'Taste Magazine' when I was younger. But as I got older and my sense of taste declined, so I retired."
Hearing this, Stanley Du uttered an "Oh."
He had heard of 'Taste Magazine,' a globally popular food magazine.
Then everyone started to eat.
Once they started, they couldn't stop.
In less than twenty minutes, the dozen dishes were all devoured.
The plates were sparkling clean, with not even a drop of sauce left.
A clean plate, that's the highest respect and recognition a diner can give to a chef.
Seeing how enthusiastically Michael Li and the others ate, Ina Yao and Hedy Yao looked at Stanley Du with eyes shining like gold.
He's like a human money tree.
If we could get this guy to work at Harmony Restaurant, our Yao family's business could become the top in the national food industry!
Uh!
A satisfied belch interrupted Ina Yao and Hedy Yao's daydream.
Old Lady Chen praised, fully contented, "Stanley, you might as well change careers and become a chef."
Randall Chen gave a thumbs up, "I've tasted many chefs' Sichuan cuisine, and none are as good as yours. You are the king of Sichuan cuisine!"
Patrick Li spoke seriously, "Stanley, let's partner up and open a restaurant. I'll finance; you bring the skill. We'll split profits 30-70. Me 30, you 70. You, as the chef, would definitely be more profitable than being a doctor!"
