Chapter 5: Desmaius's Anger

Smack!
There was a loud slap in the face. Folkin covered his face and felt the burning pain, but he did not dare to fight back.
Opposite him was a bald man with a tattoo of nine dragons on his arm. The slap was unclear, leaving four red fingerprints on Folkin's face.
"Folkin! How incapable you are now! I am asking you to monitor the bar, not to destroy it. How dare you offend Mr. Larvie. Are you seeking death?"
"Fanix, I don't know when and how I offended Mr. Larvie." Folkin defended.
"How dare you talk back! Mr. Larvie has already called Sisi." Fanix punched Folkin hard in the stomach again.
Folkin convulsed and bent down.
"Forget it, Fanix! We are all in the same boat. You should talk nicely to him."
A woman was sitting on the sofa with her legs crossed. She held a glass of red wine and shook it gently.
When Fanix heard the woman speak, he glared at Folkin fiercely, came to the woman's side, and shouted respectfully, "Yes, Sisi."
Sisi Carlson, the general manager of Blue Bridge Bar, was also a well-known socialite in Heartvale City. She could electrify men's hearts through the aura radiating from her whole body, even when she was sitting. Wildly, many men would fall for her when she flicked her eyelashes.
Not to mention the outside world, even the staff in the bar, including Folkin, had regarded Sisi as the object of sexual partner secretly. However, they could only imagine it but wouldn't dare to go overboard.
"Mr. Larvie said that he fell in love with a girl here, but you stopped him in every possible way, making him very embarrassed. Is this the case?" Sisi asked.
"Sisi, Mr. Larvie is interested in Scarlett. She is just a college student who comes to work. She's not someone who sells her body."
"What's wrong with college students? What does it matter if she's not in this line? We are in business. Without these wealthy people, how can I support you?"
"Sisi," Folkin hesitated, "I brought Scarlett here for work. We grew up together. She just entered college and came to my place. I can't let her be bullied."
Sisi didn't speak. Instead, she looked in a daze at the red wine glass in her hand.
Fanix came up and kicked Folkin, knocking him to the ground. "How loyal you are! I'm showing you too much respect, didn't I? I will beat you to death!"
"All right," Sisi returned from the red wine glass to her senses. "That's it. You can ask Scarlett to come over later and apologize to Mr. Larvie. We can settle the scores."
Folkin knew very well what she meant by that.
He endured the pain, got up from the ground, walked to Sisi, picked up the wine bottle from the table, and smashed it on his head.
The wine bottle shattered, and wine and blood flowed down his face.
"Sisi, I can do whatever you want, but Scarlett is my sister. Please let her go." Folkin was firm.
Sisi looked at Folkin with some surprise and suddenly giggled. "Okay, great! How loyal and kind you are! I admire you very much. It's okay. I will take care of this for you. Go ahead and wrap your head. It's bloodily scary."
"Thank you, Sisi!" Folkin turned around and left.
"Sisi, is that all?" Fanix asked.
"Folkin is stubborn and pig-headed. It's useless even if you beat him to death. It will only disappoint the underlings. No one will do things for you in the future."
"Ah, Sisi! You're so smart! Then Mr. Larvie..."
"Madsen, that old scoundrel!" Sisi said with a look of disdain on her face. "Go find a beautiful one among our ladies and send it to him later. Also, keep an eye on Folkin. Don't let him do anything overboard again."
Folkin left the bar and went to a nearby clinic to have his wound treated. His head was wrapped with gauze several times. As soon as he came out of the clinic, he received a call from Scarlett:
"Folkin, guess who I met? I met Astyre... Yes! He has returned to Heartvale City. I will take him to your bar tonight."
Folkin was slightly embarrassed, "Well, Scarlett. Um..."
Before Folkin finished speaking, he heard Scarlett say, "Astyre still doesn't have a job. Folkin, do you think you can arrange a job for him in a bar?"
Folkin opened his mouth, swallowed what he wanted to say, took a deep breath, and said, "Okay, it's on me."
"Ah, great, I knew you were the best, Folkin!" Scarlett jumped for joy on the other end of the phone.
Folkin thought letting Astyre work in the bar should be fine. Moreover, Sisi had already promised him not to lay a finger on her. Everything should be fine.
If he was unlucky enough to meet that old scoundrel, Madsen Larvie, again, Folkin decided to give up his job at the bar. Even risking his life, he would not let Scarlett be bullied.

After Scarlett called Folkin, she happily told Astyre...
"Astyre, Folkin promised to arrange a job for you."
"Oh!" Astyre nodded obediently. He didn't want to dampen Scarlett's enthusiasm.
Scarlett kept staring at Astyre.
Astyre said, "What are you looking at? Are there flowers on my face?"
Scarlett Xiang chuckled and said, "Astyre, you can't go to work like this. You look like a Taoist priest. I'll take you to get a haircut."
Without any explanation, he took Astyre to the barber shop and allowed the hairdresser to cut the long hair that Astyre had raised for over ten years into short and energetic hair.
Scarlett took him to the mall to buy some clothes.
Astyre changed his clothes and hairstyle, transforming from a poor Taoist priest in a mountain village to an energetic young man in the city.
When Scarlett saw the new-looking Astyre, her pretty face turned red, and she praised softly, "Astyre, you're so handsome!"
Suddenly, she frowned and sighed regretfully.
Astyre asked curiously, "What's wrong?"
Scarlett responded, "It's a pity that the material of this dress is too cheap, and it doesn't match you. Alas! It's all my fault for making too little money."
Astyre laughed, pinched Scarlett's face gently as he did as a child, and said, "Silly girl, you are still a student now. Hence, your job is to study hard and think about making money. Don't worry about making money. Leave it to me."
"All right!" Scarlett nodded vigorously.
She didn't know why, but she had an inexplicable trust in Astyre, whom she hadn't seen for more than ten years and suddenly appeared today.
Then, Astyre was dragged by Scarlett to walk around the streets for an entire afternoon.
Scarlett was excited, chattering to him about the changes in Heartvale City over the past ten years.
"Astyre, look over there. That was the garbage dump before. We often came here to pick up garbage. Now it's become a central business district," Scarlett said, pointing to the tall buildings before her.
"That shopping mall over there was the former paper factory. Hey, do you still remember? When I was a child, I was bullied in the alley behind the factory. You and Folkin helped me out. You two beat them four or five times. It was so great!"
Of course, Astyre remembered it, but the main person in that fight was Folkin. He was still young then, and Folkin was two years older than him and had a larger size. He remembered that Folkin was beaten until his nose was bruised and his face was swollen, but he refused to give in and forced the group of wild children back.
Thinking of these, Astyre smiled unconsciously, feeling indescribable joy in his heart.
"Scarlett, you have such a good memory. You were only four years old at that time, and you still remember these things. No wonder you were admitted to such a good university."
Astyre already knew Scarlett was admitted to the best school in Springbrook Province, Springbrook University.
"I don't know why, but I remember everything about being with you," Scarlett said happily.
After shopping until evening, Scarlett took him to the food city for a big meal before going to the bar.
Astyre felt sorry for the money Scarlett earned from working, but Scarlett insisted on going, saying that Astyre was here and she was willing to spend all the money.
Astyre had no choice but to let her go and secretly swore in his heart that he would protect this girl well in the future. He would repay her thousands of times and make her happy for the rest of her life.
