CHAPTER 7 – Sarah

“Hey there, when did you get in?”

I turned to see a handsome man with dirty blonde hair leaning against the training room wall that Axel and I used.

“Where’s Axel?” I asked tossing my bag into the corner and plopping down on the mat to begin warming up.

Captain America’s eyes followed my every movement, but he didn’t feel creepy, just interested.

When he didn’t answer I made a face, “Are you here to just gawk at the human or did you have something you needed?”

A broad smile broke across his handsome face. On earth, he would have reminded me of the all American football star from next door. He obviously was a warrior like Axel, I could tell by the uniform.

“You're sassy,” he winked at me, “My name is Zack.”

I continued to stretch and didn’t fail to nice how his eyes fell on my ass as I bent over and touched my toes.

“Quit perving, Zack, and I might like you better.”

His grin turned into a laugh, “I can’t believe that Axel’s imprinted pair is not only hot as fuck but you have spirit too. He must be loving life.”

Axel chose that minute to walk around the corner. The moment he saw Zack his eye lit up and they did that weird man hug that looked more painful than pleasant.

“What are you doing out here, Zack?” Axel asked when they broke apart.

“Came to give you and Sassy your orders.”

Axel looked over at me with a questioning look in his eye, “Sassy? Her name is Sarah.”

Zack smirked, “And yet I think that Sassy suits her better.”

“Whatever floats your boat, Captain America. What orders are you talking about?”

Zack pulled some papers out of a bag he had set to the side of the room. He handed them to Axel and waited.

“What kind of fucking bullshit is this?” Axel exploded.

I couldn’t resist, “Ladies, let’s watch our language.”

Axel’s irritated gaze snapped to me, and I gave him a placating smile.

Zack was laughing his ass off, “Looks like this imprinting program really works. I can’t imagine anyone more perfect for you, Axel.”

He grunted at Zack, “Shut up, ass hole.”

“What is the mission?” I asked again.

“There is unrest in the Omega Quadrant. You and Axel have been assigned to travel with the Zeronian fleet to settle any disagreements that might be happening.” Zack explained.

“What ship?” Axel bit off.

Zack grinned, “The Lexar, a personal guest of yours truly.”

I barked out a laugh, “You really are a captain?”

Axel’s lips twitched a little, “Sarah, meet Captain Zackary Cole, commander of the Zeronian fleet and personal captain of The Lexar, our finest ship.”

I raised a brow, “Does one curtsey or salute?”

Zack laughed again, “Sassy you are one funny little thing.”

I whipped around on Axel, “Ha! I told you I was funny!”

He looked at me like I had a third arm that just started sprouting out of the top of my head. Zack continued to eye us with amusement.

“When do we leave?” Axel grumbled.

“Yesterday, if you both hadn’t been out of commission. This afternoon will have to do instead.”

I had flashbacks of everything that we had been doing yesterday. Axel’s thick cock stretching me far better than any toy on earth. I knew that my cheeks had turned pink and prayed that the guys would think it was because of embarrassment over being sick.

“Can you really burn people with your eyes?” Zack asked in wonder.

I looked at Axel who scowled at me.

“Not a chance, Sarah, you aren’t going to write obscenities on either of our foreheads!”

“That sounds like a story that I don’t want to miss,” Zack rubbed his hands together gleefully.

“Get used to disappointment. If we are leaving in a few hours, Sarah and I need to pack. By the way, where is your imprinted partner?”

Zack shrugged, “I only saw her for a few moments. She hasn’t woken up yet so there hasn’t been any imprinting yet.”

I felt a shiver of dread wash over me, “When did she arrive?”

“Same time you did, Sassy,” Zack said with a wink.

“You don’t seem very worried about her,” I responded with more than a little heat.

He lifted a shoulder in that carefree, what are you going to do about it, sort of way and said, “No reason to become attached if she is just going to die out like the rest.”

“The rest?” my voice was rising and hysteria building in my gut. “How many of us are there?”

Axel tried to motion to Zack to shut the hell up but he either was oblivious or just flat out ignored it.

“Hundreds that I know of.”

“You have stolen hundreds of women from earth just to let them die if your stupid experiment doesn’t work.”

Axel moved back, clearly leaving Zack on his own.

Zack frowned, “Do you even know how this program works?”

My temper flashed, “Sure as fuck do! You arrogant bastards think you can steal humans from their homes and lives all on the chance that they might carry some stupid gene that will allow them to be a superhero. That’s fucked up my friend.”

“No,” Zack’s chin clenched, “That is not how it works, and besides the fate of the galaxy rests on this working. I would say that is far more important than any mundane human life.”

“Really should not have said that,” Axel broke in, almost amused.

My eyes flashed and Captain America’s pretty blonde locks took fire.

“Holy shit, she’s fucking crazy!” Zack screamed. Axel who expected something like this to happen threw a bottle of water at Zack.

With which he promptly poured to over his head. It now looked like Zack was sporting a crispy skullet.

“That might blister,” Axel said conversationally as he scooped me up under one of his beefy arms.

I flailed and kicked trying to break free, but Axel was using his mind blocker against my powers. Zack was glaring at me, but I didn’t care I was too busy screaming out every obscenity I knew at the both of them.

Axel smiled at Zack, “I am going to take Sassy back to our room. I would seriously get that looked at. What time are we flying?”

“I won’t let that she-devil on my ship!”

“Like I would go anywhere will human stealing alien bastards!”

“Shit, Axel, is she always like this?”

He laughed, the big idiot that somehow had managed to contain me with one arm and still carry on a conversation laughed.

“Nah, she’s just tired, you should see her when she gets mad.”

“I am mad you, ass hat! Put me down this minute.”

It didn’t matter what I said or did, Axel just continued to carry me back to our sleeping pod. Once we were there he went directly to his bed and thew me on it. Before I could scramble off he plastered his massive weight on me.

It felt pretty damn good and that only made me angrier.

“How could you be a part of something so evil?” I raged at him.

“Sarah,” he said calmly, “I think you misunderstood what Zack was telling you.”

“Oh no, I heard him loud and clear!”

“Sarah,” he said firmly, “Would you just listen?”

“Fine!” I bit off, “What wonderful words of wisdom could you possibly impart that would make this any better?”

“We don’t take humans at random. The only time they are pulled is when death is not only eminent but confirmed as the only possibility. We zap them out seconds before the human’s heart stops. Not every human makes the transition through space and sometimes we aren’t fast enough.”

“That doesn’t make any sense?” I shook my head in confusion. “I wasn’t going to die. I was at a bar having a good night and then the next thing I knew I was waking up here.”

He kissed my forehead, “Do you remember the bartender?”

I gulped, “Yeah, it was Tim or Toby.”

He sighed, “His name was Rob, and he did end up going home with you, Sarah.”

I was in shock, “Are you trying to tell me that the bartender intended to kill me?”

“He almost did.”
