chapter 5 Infinite value

While Tyrone Qin and Diana Zhang conversed, two armed police officers hurried to their carriage and quickly assessed the situation.
These officers were from the railway police, once managed by the railway department but now under the jurisdiction of the public security system. Their primary workplace was the train, with each train typically staffed by two officers who would rotate shifts.
Given that trains rarely encountered serious criminals, usually dealing only with minor thefts, the work of railway police was generally safer and more straightforward compared to criminal or special police units. Consequently, their individual skills tended to be less advanced.
In light of the circumstances they now faced, the two police officers appeared somewhat apprehensive.
An anesthetic dart could prove fatal if it struck a vital organ.
"Comrade, we appreciate your bravery. Your intervention prevented a potential disaster," one of the officers said as he approached Tyrone Qin, extending his hand in gratitude.
"You're welcome," Tyrone Qin replied, standing up and shaking the officer's hand while offering a piece of advice. "The assailant is a professional hitman. To err on the side of caution, it might be wise to render him unconscious before taking him to the police station."
"Hitman?" The two police officers' expressions shifted once again upon hearing those words. They felt even more indebted to Tyrone Qin.
Given their capabilities, and even with guns in hand, facing a professional assassin would put their lives at serious risk.
Though grateful, they couldn't help but feel a bit curious about Tyrone Qin's identity.
However, their curiosity didn't lead to further questioning. Instead, they somewhat sheepishly asked, "Comrade, in order to investigate the details of the case, we would appreciate it if the two of you could cooperate and accompany us to the police station at Donghai Hongqiao Station after the train arrives."
"Of course," Tyrone Qin replied with a smile, signaling his willingness to cooperate.
Twenty minutes later, the train, which Tyrone Qin and Diana Zhang were on, slowed down and pulled into Donghai Hongqiao Station with a resounding whistle.
Tyrone Qin and Diana Zhang positioned themselves near the door of the carriage, preparing to disembark. The two police officers, meanwhile, escorted the middle-aged hitman nearby.
In an abundance of caution, the officers followed Tyrone Qin's advice and rendered the middle-aged hitman unconscious with the butt of their rifles. To ensure security, they also administered an anesthetic injection before handcuffing him. It was a triple insurance policy.
Huh?
As the train came to a halt, Tyrone Qin glanced out the window and noticed a gathering of nearly twenty people on the platform, divided into two distinct groups.
One group consisted of the police, totaling five individuals, including a tall and resolute-looking female officer who exuded an air of authority.
The other group, however, was comprised of burly men clad in black. They stood behind a man in a traditional Tang suit.
These burly men all possessed an imposing stature, a rugged appearance, and a somewhat sinister look. They sported wireless headsets, stood with military-like posture, and surveyed their surroundings with vigilant eyes. It was evident at first glance that they were well-trained individuals.
The man in the Tang suit, leading this group, wore a frown and bore a cold countenance, projecting an air of composure and self-importance.
"It must be Diana Zhang's father," Tyrone Qin deduced internally. His musings were interrupted by the creaking of the car door, which swung open. Two police officers disembarked first, escorting the unconscious middle-aged hitman as they approached the group of five police officers.
"Diana!"
Simultaneously, the man in the Tang suit briskly walked to the carriage door and enveloped Diana Zhang in his embrace as he stepped off the train.
"I'm sorry, Diana. Your dad should have been with you..." The man in the Tang suit murmured apologetically, patting her back gently.
"I'm alright, Dad." Diana Zhang feigned a calm smile, then disengaged herself from the Tang suit-clad man's embrace. She pointed toward Tyrone Qin, who stood behind her, and introduced, "Dad, he's the one I told you about on the phone, the person who saved me."
Indeed, after hearing Diana Zhang's words, the man in the Tang suit, the bespectacled middle-aged man, and the twelve black-clad individuals all shifted their attention to Tyrone Qin.
Upon observing Tyrone Qin's slender arms, smooth joints, calloused palms, and a distinct athleticism in his physique, the pupils of the middle-aged man with glasses and the twelve burly men in black immediately constricted.
"Brother, thank you for saving my daughter," the man in the Tang suit expressed his gratitude, taking a step forward and extending his right hand toward Tyrone Qin.
"It was nothing. No need for formalities," Tyrone Qin replied, shaking the man in the Tang suit's right hand. He could feel the evenness of the man's joints, a result of consistent boxing practice.
Huh?
Tyrone Qin's words reverberated in his ears. Observing Tyrone Qin's casual demeanor, the man in the Tang suit paused for a moment, realizing that Tyrone Qin was likely unaware of his identity. As he was about to introduce himself, two police officers approached, one of whom was the policewoman.
However, Tyrone Qin astutely noted that as the policewoman approached, she fixed a hostile gaze on the man in the Tang suit, her eyes filled with animosity.
"Captain Zhou, although my daughter is unharmed physically, she's understandably shaken, emotionally unstable, and not thinking clearly. I'll take her home first, and then I can come to your office to provide statements. Does that work for you?" The man in the Tang suit released Tyrone Qin's hand and addressed the head policeman, his tone assertive and resolute, leaving no room for negotiation.
"Alright, Mr. Zhang, I'm truly sorry about this incident," Captain Zhou replied, then discreetly gestured to the policewoman beside him, worried that she might speak in anger to the man in the Tang suit.
Captain Zhou was aware that the policewoman, Hannah Wang, had a personal vendetta against the man in the Tang suit. Since joining the criminal investigation team, she had been conducting a covert investigation into him, aiming to uncover any incriminating evidence that would lead to his downfall.
The Bai Xiong Group, under the control of the man in the Tang suit, boasted assets exceeding 10 billion dollars, and it was the largest illicit enterprise in the East China Sea.
In the East China Sea, men in Tang suits were often bestowed with the honorific title "East China Sea Dragon" in the underground world.
To put it mildly, a man in a Tang suit's every move could send shockwaves throughout the East China Sea's underworld.
His influence within the East China Sea and even the entire Yangtze River Delta rivaled that of Du Yuekui and Huang Jinrong during their heydays.
How could a mere police officer hope to bring down such a powerful figure?
"Young man, my name is Tim Zhang," Tim Zhang introduced himself, disregarding Captain Zhou's presence. He retrieved a business card crafted from solid gold and handed it to Tyrone Qin. "Here's my business card. If you ever need assistance in Donghai in the future, don't hesitate to call me. I'll go to great lengths to help you. If I can't solve it, I'll find a way to get it done!"
"No, thank you," Tyrone Qin declined politely, sensing Tim Zhang's sincerity and unwavering confidence as he rejected the business card.
Huh?
Upon witnessing this, Tim Zhang's entourage, as well as Captain Zhou and Hannah Wang, were all taken aback.
After all, they knew that in the East China Sea and even the Yangtze River Delta, receiving a business card personally handed out by Tim Zhang was a source of immense pride. Very few people had that privilege.
As for Tim Zhang's commitment...
It was a once-in-a-lifetime offer, utterly priceless!
