chapter 14 Talisman

After Arno Lin decided to make talismans to earn money, he immediately began preparations. After searching around for a while, he found that there were still some paper and brushes left in Kari Chu's study, which made Arno Lin heave a sigh of relief.

If he didn't even have the most basic materials, he would truly be helpless, as a clever wife couldn't cook without rice, after all. In the Fantasy World, the minimum requirement for crafting talismans was to have specialized Rune Paper, cinnabar, wolf hair, and other materials.

Furthermore, one needed to have a cultivation level in the Qi Refinement stage to channel the natural aura into the talismans. But now, lacking several necessary conditions, Arno Lin had no choice but to give it a try.

After preparing the paper, ink, and regular brushes, Arno Lin cautiously poured the ground Alpine Rush juice into the ink, following the prescribed proportions. The most crucial step in making talismans was to infuse them with the spiritual energy of heaven and earth. He didn't have a Qi Refinement level cultivation yet, so he could only use the spiritual energy-infused Alpine Rush as a medium to attempt it.

He divided the paper into fifty equal-sized pieces, and Arno Lin couldn't help but feel a little anxious in his heart. Though he considered himself a master in talisman crafting, the crude environment he was working in was a first for him.

To his surprise, as he began drawing, a golden light suddenly flashed in his pupils, and some strange patterns appeared on the talisman he was drawing. His mind raced, following the patterns, and a burst of spiritual energy erupted from the talisman.

The first one had actually succeeded!

This delighted Arno Lin greatly. The Eye of Heaven was truly a divine tool, even though he couldn't fully control it yet. It had already brought him many benefits. He couldn't wait for the day when he could use it effectively.

In the end, he produced 21 Rune Papers out of the fifty materials. With a success rate of two out of five, it might not seem very high, but considering the poor quality of the materials, it would likely astonish any talisman master.

Can talisman crafting really be done this way? Out of these twenty talismans, half were "Peace Stilling Talismans," and half were "Evil Exorcising Talisman." There was even one "Peace Stilling Talisman" that achieved 80% of the original effect, which surprised Arno Lin. Due to the poor materials, the other "Peace Stilling Talismans" reached only about 40-50% of the original effect, so this was an unexpected delight.

After collecting these talismans, Arno Lin walked in the direction he remembered for over twenty minutes and found a small square. In the square, several vendors had already set up their stalls. Arno Lin quickly found a spot, laid out a piece of newspaper, and placed several talismans on it.

The nearby vendors took an interest when they saw Arno Lin's talismans, but upon seeing the distorted and unattractive drawings on them, they couldn't help but laugh, "Young man, if you want to trick people, at least put in some effort. Can this weird stuff even be sold?"

Arno Lin smiled noncommittally, understanding that those who knew the value of the talismans would understand, and those who didn't would dismiss it as nonsense.

The few people observing Arno Lin's silence lost interest and thought of him as an ignorant rookie.

Could he really sell this stuff this way?

Soon, a group of young couples stopped at his stall, curious. They asked, "What are you selling? Ghostly drawings?"

"These are Peace Stilling Talismans, which help maintain inner clarity and can treat some illnesses. And these are Evil Exorcising Talisman, which can ward off evil spirits," Arno Lin explained.

"Oh, speaking so authoritatively. How much for one?" the man became interested.

"They are all 10,000 yuan each, but this one with a better effect is 50,000 yuan," Arno Lin replied.

"Come on, are you out of your mind?" The young couple was frightened away by the prices.

The nearby vendors couldn't help but laugh quietly. "Are you selling this weird stuff for 10,000 yuan? Do you think everyone is a sucker?"

A whole morning passed, and only a few people inquired about the prices and were scared away. Arno Lin couldn't help but feel a bit frustrated.

If he were in the Fantasy World, even a low-quality Level 1 Peace Stilling Talisman revealed to the public would cause a frenzy. But it seemed that there were no discerning customers here.

He sat for an entire afternoon, and the sky was getting dark when a middle-aged woman came to inquire.

The woman appeared to be around forty, had a certain elegance, and a deep sense of hesitation on her brow. "What is the effect of these talismans?" she asked.

After explaining, Arno Lin added, "These are genuine items, so the prices are not cheap, all of them are 10,000 yuan each. Think it over if you want to buy."

The woman was also quite surprised at the prices. What kind of talismans could be sold for 10,000 yuan each? Thinking of the situation at home, she sighed lightly, considering it a good deed and an opportunity to accumulate virtue, and handed over several bills.

"10,000 yuan is too expensive. Even if you sell for a few more days, you won't be able to sell them. How about 1,000 yuan for one Peace Stilling Talisman?" the woman proposed.

"As you're my first customer, sure."

Arno Lin took the money and handed her a Peace Stilling Talisman, and after a moment's thought, he gave her an Evil Exorcising Talisman too. "Judging by your appearance, there's probably someone in your family with an unusual illness. If that person has an episode, you can burn this Evil Exorcising Talisman and have them drink it with a glass of water."

The woman took the two talismans absentmindedly and left.

This made many nearby vendors envious. Could it be that easy to deceive people? Maybe they should try drawing some and selling them. Although Arno Lin earned 1,000 yuan, he wasn't particularly happy. In his view, he practically gave them away for a bargain price.

After collecting the items, Arno Lin went straight to a nearby pharmacy. Although 1,000 yuan wasn't much, it was enough to buy some basic medicinal herbs for a medicinal bath.

When he left the Chinese pharmacy, Arno Lin felt a bit of a pinch. He had spent 1,000 yuan in one go and only managed to purchase some basic materials. He had seen a ginseng that seemed suitable, but when he inquired about the price, it was a whopping 20,000 yuan.

This left Arno Lin smiling wryly. He never thought he would one day worry about money.

As Arno Lin was about to head home, a disruptive burst of laughter came from not far away. "Haha! This woman is really easy to deceive. If we just threaten her a bit with Arno Lin, this useless guy, she'll obediently comply."

"Boss, this ring can't be fake, right? She gave it away so easily!"

"If she's not happy, what can she do? If she doesn't give it, we'll go to her house every day to cause trouble! With Arno Lin being useless, he won't stop us!"
