Then, Sagiv came to Taddeo, who looked unhappy, and said with respect, "Prince Adam, I'm sorry you had to witness this."
Taddeo raised his eyebrows and snorted coldly, "Lord Quickley, your disciples were threatening my life just now. How will you deal with them?"
Sagiv nodded and said, "I will give Prince Adam an explanation about this matter. However, Prince Adam, it wouldn't be good if rumors spread around that you came to see my sister. I still have other urgent matters to attend to. I won't keep you any longer, Prince Adam."
He was urging Prince Adam to leave.
Taddeo's expression changed, and his fair complexion became even paler. He took a deep breath a few times as if he couldn't bear it anymore, yet he still held it back. He flicked his sleeves and said, "You are being all high and mighty. I will remember what happened today."
He snorted coldly and left the Quickley Mansion with an unpleasant expression on his face.
Sagiv glanced at everyone in the courtyard and shouted, "And the rest of you, get back to work. Do you all want to be punished?"
Suddenly, the servants stood up in fear and hurriedly exited the courtyard.
Even Jennifer left with a pale face. She glanced at Garfield and Grace viciously before leaving.
Not long after, only Sagiv, both Garfield and her son, and a few servants were left in the courtyard.
"Garfield, you've got some nerve. You actually dared to kill people." Sagiv looked at the two corpses on the ground with some surprise. He then said to the servants beside him: "Take care of the corpses and give their families fifty taels respectively. Let them know that their husbands have served us well and passed away."
"Yes, master."
Several servants quickly disposed of the bodies and moved them out.
Sagiv stood there quietly while looking at Grace. His gaze softened, and he said, "Sister, are you still blaming me?"
Hearing this, Grace's body trembled and, trying not to cry, said lightly, "My Marquis, I dare not."
Sagiv sighed and said, "You caused such a sensation in the capital when you left home without us knowing and suddenly brought a child back home. You greatly impacted our family. As the patriarch, I had no choice."
"I don't blame you, I brought that upon myself," Grace said.
Looking at Grace's expression, Sagiv waved his hand while looking disgruntled and said with a wan tone, "It's all water under the bridge. Let's put it behind us."
Then, he turned to stare at Garfield and said coldly, "For what happened today, I can let it slide for now. There is only half a month left before the Skystar College test. You must practice hard and try to achieve the bloodline awakening before the test. So that the dignitaries in the Capital know that members of Quickley family are all best of the best, and not good-for-nothings."
After Sagiv delivered that message, he turned and left the room without saying a word.
That steel-like, ruthless figure left Garfield without any expression.
The noisy yard quickly turned quiet, and everyone had left. Only Grace and her son were there. She stared at the door with a pale expression.
Garfield felt something was wrong with her mother, and asked with concern, "Mother, are you alright?"
Only then, Grace regained her consciousness, looked at Garfield with pity, and said, "Son, I'm fine. You must be hungry. Take a rest first, and I will cook you something."
With that said, Grace came to the outer courtyard and lighted the fire to cook. As the young lady of the Quickley family, her movements were swift, and clearly, she was familiar with cooking. In no time, a steaming bowl of noodles was placed in front of Garfield.
Garfield was also hungry. Having just awakened, he was naturally very weak after the battle. Immediately, he began to eat voraciously, taking large mouthfuls.
Eating these hot and delicious noodles, Garfield couldn't help but feel a sense of déjà vu, as if he had traveled through time after he reincarnated as a human being.
Grace looked at her son lovingly, with a trace of hesitation on his face, but finally gritted his teeth and said, "Son, you are still young, and there are some things that I am not sure to tell you. Yet sometimes there are things which I need to let you know, I hope you can understand."
Garfield felt curious and said, "Mom, what's the matter? Just go ahead and tell me."
Grace said, "Your uncle is a Deputy General and Marquis Nichols. He is an extremely hard-hearted person. He is very strict on rules and pays equal attention to rewards and punishments. It is not his usual way of doing things that he did not punish you today. You must keep his words in mind, especially his last sentence.”
Looking at his mother's worried face, Garfield said calmly, "What you mean is on the surface, he let up on me. But in fact, he is waiting for me to fail the test so he will get a better reason to punish me?"
Grace was startled, looked up at Garfield in surprise, and then suddenly smiled, "You have grown a lot."
A cold light flashed in Garfield's eyes, and he said with a smile, "Mother, don't worry. I will definitely be able to awaken the bloodline and pass the test."
"I have faith in you."
Grace took a deep look at Garfield and sighed slightly.
In fact, she knew that Garfield couldn't awaken his bloodline again as he was almost sixteen years old.
However, as a mother, all she can do is encourage her son.
After a moment, she said firmly, "Son, even if we are not in the Quickley family, I can still make sure both of us are able to survive."
Garfield knew what his mother was thinking. He didn't say much, just nodded and said, "Mother, don't worry. Even if you want to leave the Quickley family right away, I will still be able to support you, and I will never let you suffer any hardships again."
He clenched his fists and said with determination, "Mom, I will bring back good news and will never let you down."
