chapter 2 sudden happiness

The morning sun rose slowly, resembling a massive furnace suspended in the sky, and the atmosphere in the martial arts training ground became lively.
Many disciples began sparring with each other, while some practiced their sword techniques against the bronze training dummies.
Awakening from his cultivation, Sonny left the training ground and headed towards the library, Sonny's daily routine was monotonous, practicing the Sublimation Technique in the early morning to refine his body, followed by a visit to the library to read martial arts scrolls, at noon, he would take a break for a meal, and in the afternoon, he would contemplate the martial arts techniques stored in his mind, in the evening, he would go to the training ground for practical exercises, this had been Sonny's routine for a while.
Guarding the library was an elderly man who, regardless of the season, always wore a thin gray robe and sat in quiet contemplation. Every time Sonny approached, he would respectfully salute the old man before entering the library.
The old man never reciprocated the gesture, but Sonny continued to pay his respects.
Entering the library, Sonny walked directly to the third floor. In the two years since joining the Sword Sect, he had already finished reading all the martial arts scrolls on the first and second floors. His eidetic memory allowed him to engrave every detail into his mind. Currently, he had completed one-third of the martial arts scrolls on the third floor. Sonny estimated that in another six months, he would have memorized the entire library of martial arts.
At noon, Sonny walked out of the library, saluted the old man, and prepared to leave.
"Wait a moment!"
After two years, this was the first time the old man spoke.
Sonny's body trembled slightly. He turned back to look at the old man, whose eyes were open but lacked luster, resembling dry water.
The old man turned out to be blind.
"Senior... what are your orders?"
Sonny withdrew his gaze from the old man's eyes and spoke softly.
"What is the fifth book on the second level of number three bookshelf at the first floor of the library?" the old man asked.
After a moment of contemplation, Sonny responded, "It's a basic introductory body technique called the Illusory Steps."
The old man nodded slightly. "Where can the Deadwood Sword Technique be found on the second floor of the library?"
"Number 5 bookshelf, third floor, thirteenth book." Sonny answered without hesitation. The Deadwood Sword Technique had left a deep impression on him, and he had spent three days unraveling its mysteries. However, due to the limitations of his cultivation, he had yet to perfect its practice.
A smile appeared on the old man's face, and he praised Sonny.
Sonny felt an invisible force pressing down on him.
As heavy as a mountain, as dense as loess.
This was vigour—the power of the spirit.
Sonny was somewhat shocked. He hadn't expected that the old man guarding the library was an accomplished Innate Realm warrior.
The pressure increased.
Large beads of sweat rolled down Sonny's forehead, his knees were trembling, but he kept them from bending.
After a while, the intense pressure dissipated.
Sonny felt his whole body relax.
"Teachable, indeed!"
The old man spoke, extending two fingers, and a sharp energy shot towards Sonny.
Sharp and powerful, the energy resembled a cutting sword as it entered Sonny's body.
Pain.
Bone-piercing pain.
Sonny couldn't help but emit a muffled groan. The sharp energy traversed his meridians like a sharp blade, recklessly colliding.
Sonny endured silently. He could clearly feel his thirteen unopened acupuncture points starting to loosen.
This was an opportunity!
Sonny felt a surge of joy, silently reciting the Frozen Heart Technique to forget the severe pain and greedily absorbing the world's vitality. He then proceeded to open his acupuncture points.
An unknown amount of time passed.
Sonny's clothes were drenched in sweat, and he looked like he had just emerged from water. His feet were also soaked.
"Ah!"
A long roar echoed, reminiscent of a tiger roaring in the mountains or a dragon rising from the sea.
Sonny opened his eyes, feeling the potent force emanating from his body. A profound joy filled his eyes.
"Senior..."
Sonny didn't know what to say. The old man had directly opened all the acupuncture points that were like death points, and he felt extremely relaxed. The eighteen acupuncture points began to absorb the world's vitality on their own. In less than half a month, Sonny would step into the ranks of martial arts masters, this was a tremendous favor.
The old man smiled.
"Don't say anything more, consider this as a repayment for your continuous salutes over the past two years, my action was just an introduction, the real reason is your years of diligent practice, the human body is like a container, and the vitality of heaven and earth is like water, if there is too much water, it will naturally overflow the container. I just added the last drop of water for you!"
There was a hint of weakness in the old man's voice, indicating that the previous attack had consumed a significant amount of energy.
"Senior's kindness... I, Sonny, will definitely remember it in my heart."
Sonny said earnestly.
The old man nodded. "Practice well. The future of Sword Sect lies with young people like you. We are already on the decline. Being able to do something for the younger generation is an honor."
"Your teachings will be firmly remembered."
Sonny reiterated earnestly.
The old man smiled, and the wrinkles on his face gathered, "I like you more and more... It's a pity that I vowed not to accept any more disciples, otherwise, I would have accepted you as a closed disciple today."
Sonny smiled without saying a word.
"Never mind, come to my place tomorrow morning. I'll teach you a set of sword techniques. This is a sword technique I created after I became blind, and it has never been revealed. Teaching it to you is my way of ensuring a successor." The old man announced.
Sonny did not hesitate. "Thank you, senior."
The old man closed his eyes again and said softly, "Go back quickly... Don't tell others about today's events. Adjust your state when you get back and come to me early tomorrow morning."
"Yes!"
After bowing respectfully to the old man, Sonny turned and left.
Along the way, Sonny felt a bit light-headed.
Happiness came so suddenly, making Sonny a bit overwhelmed. After years of persistence, he had finally succeeded. This filled Sonny with overwhelming joy.
Boom!
A punch was thrown, and the rapid gust of the punch resounded in the air.
After opening the eighteen acupuncture points, the benefits were endless. Sonny could now cultivate internal strength, and his combat power naturally increased exponentially.
Perhaps due to the breakthrough, Sonny felt very hungry. After looking at the sun about to set, he went straight to the cafeteria. Amid everyone's shocked looks, Sonny ate five kilograms of barbecue and fifteen steamed buns in a row. Finally feeling full.
All the excitement turned into appetite.
After drinking a bowl of seaweed soup, Sonny returned to his dormitory.
Whoosh!
Exhaling deeply, Sonny sat cross-legged on the bed, silently reciting the Frozen Heart Technique to calm himself down. He then began to contemplate the martial arts techniques he had learned that day.
Now that he had opened the eighteen acupuncture points, he could try practicing advanced martial arts techniques, time was the only thing Sonny lacked.
From today onward, he would no longer bear the title of trash.
