chapter 8 Climb boulders

After walking forward for another half hour, we found a tall boulder halfway up the mountain.

I wiped the sweat from my forehead and looked around the boulder.

There is a crack on the right side of the boulder. You should be able to climb to the top of the boulder by supporting this crack with your hands and feet.

However, this stone is very high. If you slip and fall, you will definitely break your bones.

Thinking of this, I went back and called Tarala and Chimere over.

The two of them took a look at the situation here. Tarala folded his arms and fell into silence, while Chimere frowned.

Chimere said: "It's too high and too dangerous. It's better not to go up. If we go up higher, there might be a place with a wider view."

I took a deep breath and said, "Deborah and Saahira have been without water for a day and a night. We must find water and go back as soon as possible."

Tarala raised his hand and pointed to the tall pine tree growing on the edge of the crack and said: "There is a fork in the middle of this tree. You can use a rope to make a safety system. Once your hand slips, the two of us can hold you."

I looked at Tarala worriedly and said, "Yes, yes, I'm afraid you will let go suddenly."

When Tarala heard this, his whole face instantly darkened, "Don't worry, we still need you as a man, I won't harm you."

Chimere looked at Tarala thoughtfully. I came behind Chimere and rummaged through her back to find the nylon rope I had brought earlier.

Chimere turned to look at me and said: "Einstein, don't worry, I will hold you."

I looked up at Chimere and smiled: "I believe you."

After taking the nylon rope out of the backpack, I first folded one strand of rope into three strands, and then tied the stone to my head.

After finishing this work, I picked up the stone, aimed at the fork of the pine tree, and threw it directly.

The stone swept across the fork with the rope, then fell down and hit the grass.

Tarala and Chimere walked over and picked up the rope at that end. I tied the rope at this end around my waist and tied a safety buckle.

I came to the crack, spit on my hand, and took a deep breath.

I used to practice rock climbing indoors with my friends who were into extreme sports, so I knew some techniques.

I usually like to exercise, so I should be fine in terms of physical strength.

As long as I don't be afraid and stay calm at all times, I will definitely be able to climb up smoothly.

I tried the friction on both sides of the crack and it was pretty good. Then I propped up both sides with my feet and moved up a little bit with both hands.

When I climbed a third of the way, I found a groove, so I turned around, put my feet on the opposite stone wall, and sat directly inside.

Now that he was some distance away from the ground, Tarala shouted: "Einstein, can you do it? Don't force it!"

I rested for a while and then looked up. There were many pits washed out by the rain.

With these pits, it will be much easier to climb next.

I said: "It will be very high if you go up. You two hold on to the rope."

After saying that, I raised my hand to grab the pit above, adjusted my body, and continued to climb up.

The forest wind blew, and a chill ran down my back. I was already sweating profusely.

I somewhat overestimated my own strength, and also somewhat underestimated the height of this stone.

When I had climbed nearly three-quarters of the way, I suddenly felt like I touched something greasy.

I subconsciously retracted my hand, and then a gray snake poked its head out.

"Fuck!"

I let go of my hand in shock, and my body lost all strength and fell directly downwards.

My mind goes blank. At this moment, the rope around my waist tightened and grabbed me.

I immediately stabilized my body, leaned my back against the rock wall, and pressed my legs firmly on the opposite rock wall.

I took a deep breath, feeling like my heart was pierced by a sharp knife, and my hands were shaking uncontrollably.

Then, I looked up and saw that the gray snake seemed to be afraid of people. It crawled away quickly along the stone wall.

Chimere shouted nervously: "Einstein, are you okay?"

I swallowed and shouted, "It's okay! It's just a snake."

Tarala said: "Einstein, it's too dangerous. Come back and we will continue walking to the top of the mountain." I took a deep breath, adjusted myself and shouted: "It's okay, hold on to the rope."

After I finished speaking, I continued climbing up. Half an hour later, I successfully reached the boulder.

I moved my trembling hands, then walked to the front of the boulder and looked forward.

The view here is very broad and the golden beach is unobstructed.

There is a valley not far to the right of the boulder, and the clucking of pheasants can be heard from time to time.

I swallowed, and after confirming my position, I turned back to the crack and slowly climbed down.

Back on the ground, Tarala and Chimere threw away the rope and walked over. Tarala asked, "How was it?"

I wiped the sweat from my forehead and said, "There is a valley to the south of the boulder."

Tarala said: "Let's go and try our luck."

I took the rope back, then untied the stone and threw it away, then rolled it up and put it in my backpack.

Then I put my backpack on my back and took out the hammer from the pocket on one side of my backpack.

Chimere came to me and said, "Einstein, let me do it."

I said, "It's okay, I'll do it. Carrying it is much easier than carrying Tarala."

When Chimere heard this, she pursed her lips and smiled. She nodded, then turned and left.

Her smile was charming, and I felt my heart beating very fast, and I felt like I was about to suffocate.

Chimere took a few steps forward, she stopped, turned to look at me and smiled: "Einstein, let's go."

I came to my senses, scratched the back of my head in embarrassment, and then quickly followed him.

We walked south along the boulders for about an hour. The air became very humid and I could clearly hear the sound of the stream.

Tarala and Chimere's faces were filled with excited smiles, and they immediately quickened their pace.

After passing through a low locust forest, a gurgling stream appeared in our sight.

There are many wild strawberries growing on the other side of the stream, and their red flesh is mouth-watering.

Tarala and Chimere jumped onto a large flat rock. They squatted down and carefully picked up a handful of water.

The two lowered their heads, sucked all the water in their hands into their mouths, and then let out a long sigh of relief.

Tarala looked at me and said, "The water is very sweet, sweeter than any water I have ever drunk."

I walked over and squatted down to put down the peace axe. Then I picked up a handful of water and tasted it. It was indeed very sweet.

There are few people here, and the stream water is filtered by sand and gravel and flows continuously, so drinking it directly should be no problem.

I looked at Tarala and Chimere and said, "You two go over to the other side and pick some wild strawberries. I'll clean the insulated bag and fill it with water."

The two nodded, they drank some more water, and then got up and went to the other side to pick wild strawberries.

I took off my backpack and took out the thermal bags.
