chapter 5 The basics are decent

No time to pay attention to the wild thoughts of the little witch behind, Severus still has a lot to do today.

After deciding where to stay, Severus led Hermione across the bar to a small walled patio at the back of the tavern.

There is nothing around here except a trash can and some weeds.

Hermione recalls a tip she heard "back then" when she first entered school:

"I remember this! On the count of three—"

"Wizards and Squibs of low power are the ones who break bricks."

Severus snorted impatiently, pulled out his wand and waved it casually.

The brick wall that stood behind the trash can wobbled and began to wobble to the sides.

In the dust, the left and right parted into a wide archway, leading to a winding cobbled street with no end in sight.

"Okay, grab your wand."

Severus didn't put the wand back in his sleeve, but passed it to Hermione.

"I still have a lot of things to do, you'd better keep up with yourself."

Hermione took her wand in surprise, and followed quickly while nodding.

Unlike Diagon Alley decades later, most wizards came and went in a hurry, and there was a certain tension in the air.

In addition, there are many differences between the windows and shops facing the street, filled with various bright magic materials.

Hermione vaguely heard many tinkling wind chimes whispering old sayings by the window.

"Miss Granger, now, I need you to go shopping for me."

Before she could hear the singing of the nearest wind chimes, Professor Snape's voice rang again.

"Huh? Are we going to separate?"

"Of course, otherwise why would I give you the wand, and this—"

Severus frowned, and took out the money bag embroidered with cat patterns from his arms.

This is the purse that Hermione Granger brought from decades later, with 2 Galleons, 13 Sickles, and 19 Knuts left.

Severus wasn't going to pin all his hopes on Albus Dumbledore's generosity.

If you want to buy wands, various supplies, and accommodation, you'd better think of some other ways.

An expedited letter, well, two Sickles is more than enough.

Severus closed the purse, tossed it to Hermione casually, and ordered in an unquestionable tone.

"I'll go to the Owl Post Office to post the letter first. You can buy everything according to the list below, and then come back here and wait for me."

"Pewter pot, balance, 21 sets of fairy wings, 15 fresh roses, 500 grams of mantle grass, two bottles of salamander blood..."

"...beautiful potion?"

Before Snape's list was finished, Hermione couldn't help but rush to answer.

Immediately afterwards, she quickly covered her mouth and shrank back.

It's over, it's over... I couldn't help but interrupted again...

"correct."

The imaginary reprimand did not come.

Severus glanced at Hermione thoughtfully, raising his eyebrows once in a while.

"Tsk, tsk—it seems that Miss Know-It-All has remembered something."

"But besides that, I need to buy some other potion ingredients..."

"Narcissus root, wormwood—"

Snape counted seven or eight more names of potion ingredients with his fingers, and took out the purchase list appended to the admission letter.

"The potion-related materials and utensils here will be bought together at that time."

He said and pointed to the nearest store.

Dazzling sunlight casts on the stack of cauldrons outside the shop door.

Coming out of the courtyard of the Leaky Cauldron Tavern, the first place is Green's Magical Crucible Store, which hasn't changed.

"Then, we will part here, you go first—"

Before Severus could finish his sentence, the hands he had just freed were suddenly filled again.

He glanced at the wand and the cat-patterned purse that had returned to his hands, and his face quickly sank.

"What do you mean? Miss Granger—"

During the interval between Snape's introduction, Hermione saw at least four or five gloomy and weird wizards passing by.

Unlike the era she was familiar with, there were too many people who looked like dark wizards wandering in Diagon Alley now.

"You told me not to leave your sight before you set off."

Hermione bit her lip, stared at the juvenile version of the professor, and replied stubbornly.

"I'm alone... scared."

"..."

…………

Twenty minutes later, the two of them left the dark, babbling owl post office.

The fluttering of its wings faded away, and a large barn owl flew over their heads.

Hermione held back for a long time, but finally couldn't hold back - even though the black-haired boy next to her didn't seem to want to talk.

"Is that all right? Professor Dumbledore will come?"

"right."

"But the clerk at the post office also said that most of the letters sent to Professor Dumbledore will be returned."

"Usually yes, but this one will not be returned."

"So we go back to the hotel and wait?"

"right."

Severus frowned, and glanced at the annoying tail beside him.

Since rejecting his request to act separately, the little witch talked more and more.

"By the way, professor, is the one in your letter really all right? Tom Reed..."

Due to the height difference between the two, Hermione accidentally glanced at Snape when he was writing a letter.

She remembered that the last time she saw this name was in the "last" semester——

Who knew that before she finished reading the words, a force suddenly glued her upper and lower lips tightly together.

"Listen! This is not an outing...this is the last warning!"

Hermione felt a pain in her shoulders, and a sallow, thin face appeared in front of her eyes.

Severus put his hands on Hermione's shoulders, stared at her viciously, and said hoarsely.

"If you want to go back alive, you'd better put away your curiosity. Got it?"

"No no."

Looking at the angry Snape in front of her, Hermione nodded in fear.

Perhaps because she was frightened, Hermione didn't dare to say a word during the whole process of subsequent purchases and even returning to the hotel.

After simply eating the dinner provided by the Leaky Cauldron, she followed Snape back to her room.

However, she soon regained her vitality.

There are not many opportunities to watch potions masters operate up close.

Not to mention, the potion brewed today is very likely to be a beauty potion.

"Don't stand there stupidly, I hope you still remember the content of the class!"

Back at the Leaky Cauldron, Snape spread the potion ingredients purchased by the two on the ground.

The portable magic stove is hot, and the newly bought cauldron is ready.

"Daffodil roots are ground into powder, and wormwood is cut into sections no larger than the little knuckle."

"Mash the cloak grass into a pulp, the weight is 50 grams, I don't want the potion to mix..."

While instructing Hermione, Severus was constantly processing several other potion ingredients.

Spells are limited to the soul and body, while potions are more dependent on techniques and experience.

Perhaps masters of spells, masters of shapeshifting, and even Ministry of Magic officials would be financially strapped.

but……

A top potion master would never worry about Jin Gallon.

For example, beauty potion, a perfect bottle of beauty potion can sell for at least fifty Galleons.

And its cost is just a simple material less than ten silver Sickles, which can be brewed by a qualified potionist.

Regrettably……

The vast majority of Hogwarts students are so stupid that it is unacceptable.

While handling the potion in hand, Severus glanced at the witch who was helping carefully.

Well, this third-grade "know-it-all" foundation is barely passable.
