Chapter 8: Great injustice

Wesley Lu waited for a while before the Seven steps snake replied,"Tomorrow, I will be in Flame City, Long Country."
Wesley Lu,"Thank you!"
Seven steps snake,"You're welcome."
The message was followed by a long string of numbers.
A slight twitch appeared at the corner of Wesley Lu's mouth. It was an account number for the dark web, meaning two words... transfer money.
Dark web accounts are untraceable.
Wesley Lu transferred five million through his own dark web account to Seven steps snake.
Immediately after, he posted in the group,"Task accepted by Seven steps snake."
Red-faced Tiger,"Seven steps snake, who did Dragon ask you to protect? I'll pay ten million for this information."
Fickle Pig,"I'll offer twenty million."
Carnivorous Rabbit,"I bid thirty million."
Wesley Lu felt a chill, wondering how wealthy these people were.
But he wasn't worried about Seven steps snake leaking their conversation. Firstly, because of professional ethics. Secondly, if Seven steps snake killed him, they could take over, and so they wouldn't leak the information they had.
Wesley Lu mischievously muted everyone in the group.
He had two major powers now: one was to mute everyone; the other was to assign tasks that no one in the group could refuse, unless there were irresistible factors.
However, he was skeptical about the second power.
These people were not easy to control. Otherwise, they wouldn't have transferred money to Seven steps snake; they would have just given orders.
After closing the chat group, Wesley Lu smiled helplessly. He was surrounded by threats from the assassin headquarters and the Dark Chinese Zodiac, all wanting to kill him. He truly faced threats from both inside and outside.
Wesley Lu got up and went to the bathroom to enjoy a comfortable bath.
After coming out, instead of sleeping, he sat cross-legged on the sofa, his heart facing upwards.
A strong current of energy spread from his dantian, moving through the eight extraordinary meridians, limbs, and body.
After circulating for a complete cycle, Wesley Lu's fatigue was dispelled.
This technique was taught by Elder Luo. As for its specifics, Elder Luo didn't say, only that it was greatly beneficial for him.
It took him five years to cultivate this energy.
Elder Luo was right; this energy significantly enhanced his stamina, speed, and reflexes.
Wesley Lu guessed that this was the legendary internal energy, similar to Qi.
He suspected that Elder Luo had taught it not only to him but also to other members of the Dark Chinese Zodiac. That's why he was wary of the others... otherwise, he would have revealed his identity long ago and waited for them to come and beat them all.
Unknowingly, day broke.
Although he hadn't slept all night, Wesley Lu was still energetic, thanks to the energy within his body.
Once, on an assassination mission, the headquarters sent over a dozen top assassins, but all failed.
The target was well-guarded, like an iron barrel, leaving no opportunity for attack.
Eventually, the headquarters sent him. It was this energy that allowed him to lurk in the shadows for more than ten days before seizing the opportunity to complete the mission.
Because he was going to the Su family today, he dressed up.
Standing in front of the mirror, Wesley Lu was confident in his appearance. With a tall figure, sword-like eyebrows and starry eyes, and handsome features, even his randomly cut hair, far from being ugly, added a dash of unrestrained charm.
He took his car keys and left, heading to the underground garage.
Wesley Lu's car wasn't luxurious but decent – a Cadillac CT6, powerful and large.
Cadillacs don't ferry passengers, only technicians and models.
Wesley Lu felt he wasn't a proper owner, even suspecting he had bought a fake car because its steering wheel didn't veer off course like others, which automatically head to the bath center.
Also, he hadn't ferried any technicians or models, only Bertha Luo... and she even complained about it, urging him to switch to a sports car.
He could afford it, but sports cars are cramped and low; he preferred this powerful beast. Although it wasn't as good for picking up girls as a sports car, he liked it.
He drove out of the garage and stopped outside the complex.
Wesley Lu entered a breakfast shop. "Boss, five baskets of buns, a bowl of tofu pudding, a bowl of millet porridge, and five tea eggs."
Since cultivating the energy, he found his metabolism was fast, he got hungry easily, and his appetite was huge.
After a hearty meal and paying, Wesley Lu drove straight to the Civil Affairs Bureau.
When Wesley Lu arrived, Bertha Luo was already there, along with a fashionable young man standing next to her by a red sports car.
Wesley Lu parked his car, glanced at the young man, and sighed internally, foreseeing another unfortunate soul.
Bertha Luo's affair was with his superior. Wesley Lu had tampered with the latter's car, unsure if they were now in the crematorium or hospital.
He hadn't seen this young man before, but he was sure to be another unfortunate victim.
This deceitful woman, appearing like an innocent rabbit, probably had many other "fish" in her pond.
"You're here?"
Bertha Luo was wearing a light white floral dress, looking timid and harmless like a rabbit.
Wesley Lu sneered internally. After last night, Bertha Luo's fear was real, but her act was mostly for the young man.
Her current vulnerable appearance, like a delicate flower in a storm, could easily trigger a man's protective instincts.
Wesley Lu looked disgusted. His nature was decisive; anything he discarded was like trash, never to be picked up again.
The stylish young man stepped forward, shielding Bertha Luo, and glared at Wesley Lu. "Scum, how could you cheat and hit such a nice girl like Bertha? Are you even a man?"
Huh? Wesley Lu was startled but quickly understood. Bertha Luo must have painted him as a cheating, abusive husband.
He should have slapped her more last night.
Wesley Lu wasn't angry but looked sympathetically at the young man, thinking, "I'll wait for the day you cry."
"Watch your status. We're still not divorced. Legally, she's still my wife. You're just an affair. Also, even if we divorce, I'm still your senior."
"You..." The young man's face turned red, struggling to retort, and said angrily, "The law saved you. If not for Bertha persuading me, I would have had you crippled."
Wesley Lu laughed, "Then why don't you do it yourself? You're just a small dog."
"You, you, you..." The young man, infuriated, approached Wesley Lu, realized he was shorter by half a head, and his momentum halved, said indignantly, "Just wait."
Wesley Lu suddenly smirked, "I suddenly don't want a divorce... Beating her daily sounds fun."
The young man's eyes widened.
Bertha Luo turned pale, remembering the scene where her whole family was beaten last night, her eyes filled with fear.
