chapter 4 You may not be very clean

An elderly man, with grizzled hair and dressed in traditional Tang clothing, sat on the sofa sipping tea.
He didn't bother to see Megan, simply uttered a word, "Have your seat."
Megan hesitated for a moment, then cautiously took a seat on the opposite sofa.
The White Family had gathered, but notably absent were her parents.
This wasn't a good sign.
"Girl, I received a call early in the morning saying you didn't come home last night. Where were you?"
Luke placed his teacup down, asking in a calm tone.
Luke, the guiding force of the White Family, had, in earlier years, established the White Group in Yorksimvil through keen insight and skill.
Due to health issues, he stepped back a few years ago, relinquishing control of the family business.
Typically, he didn't intervene in company affairs, only appearing for significant matters.
"Grandfather, I..."
Megan began to explain but was interrupted by Luke.
"Enough, Megan. You don't need to say more! I brought people here early to have a frank discussion with you!"
Luke gripped the dragon-headed cane in his hands, his cloudy eyes fixed on Megan. "Megan, you are my most beloved child, and I thought you were the smartest, resembling me the most—bold, meticulous, and unburdened by trivial matters. But now, it seems I was mistaken."
"Years ago, against all advice, I elevated you to the position of Chairperson of the White Group, hoping you would lead the company to greater heights. However, the company is now on the brink, and you, as the Chairperson, are indifferent to its fate. I am deeply disappointed!"
At this point, Luke forcefully slammed the dragon-headed cane onto the ground, as if venting some inner displeasure.
"Grandfather, are you forcing me to marry that scumbag Calvin?"
Megan's eyes reddened, tears welling up. "Do you not know who Calvin is? He indulges in all vices, preying on both men and women. I heard he even forced two female college students to end their lives after impregnating them! I would rather jump from here than marry such a scum."
"But the Zachar Family is the only hope to save the White Group. Megan, are you unwilling to sacrifice yourself for the sake of the White Family?" Logan shouted, his emotions running high.
Megan bit her cherry lips, lowered her head, and remained silent.
"Megan, you are too selfish! The company is in this state under your leadership, and now you disregard its survival for your interests! Are you even human?"
"Your grandfather trusted you so much, giving you control of the company. How do you repay him, Megan?"
"If you were a person, you would immediately agree to Young Master Zachar and save the company! Otherwise, you're nothing more than a worthless creature."
"She's worse than a wolf with green eyes!"
"Heartless and unscrupulous!"
The members of the White Family were furious, cursing loudly and relentlessly blaming Megan.
Megan's eyes welled with tears, feeling deeply wronged.
The shouts of reproach and complaint echoed, each word tearing at her heart.
At this moment, she was the scapegoat for the White Family.
Martin furrowed his brow.
Suddenly, Uncle Cody stepped forward.
"Dad, Megan's mismanagement and short-sightedness have led the company into this dire situation. In my opinion, we should remove her from the position of chairperson and let William take over the company!"
His words hit the ground and immediately received approval from many.
"He's right. William is talented and perceptive. If he takes charge, he won't let the company end up like this!"
Aunt Lisa also spoke up.
"I support letting William take charge of the company!"
"So do I!"
"Grandfather, it's time for a change!"
"Dad, the White Family must have a new leader!"
People exchanged words, rallying behind William.
Megan's face turned pale as she stared blankly at the crowd.
After years of hard work, with several major projects on the verge of success, she now had to yield, handing over everything to someone else.
How could she accept this?
William smirked, confidently saying, "Dear uncles and aunts, don't make things difficult for me. I, William, lack the skills and qualifications to run the company."
"William, you're too modest! If Megan can manage the company, why can't you?"
"Be confident; you'll surely do better than her!"
"That's right, have some confidence. Everyone believes in you; you're the chosen one!"
Luke gazed deeply at William, seemingly intrigued.
Seeing this, Megan's heart turned to ashes.
She knew she might not be able to stay in the company any longer.
How could she, on her own, resist the entire White Family?
But at this moment, Martin beside them suddenly let out a cold laugh. "Everyone has their unlucky times! Megan has just encountered some setbacks, and you're all eager to kick her when she's down. That's just how petty people are, right?"
The faces of the White Family members changed.
"Who do you think you are? Do you have the right to speak here?" Cody glared at Martin.
"I am Megan's man," Martin said casually.
"What?"
The people in the room were shocked.
"Megan, what does this mean?"
Luke immediately looked towards Megan.
Megan's eyes showed a hint of panic, but she quickly calmed down and whispered, "Grandfather, didn't you ask me where I was last night? Let me tell you. Last night, I was with him at a hotel..."
The crowd was thunderstruck.
Luke, in particular, wore an expression of disbelief.
"What a disgrace for the family! What a disgrace!"
"Megan! As the Chairperson of the White Group! How could you engage in such a vulgar act?"
"Even if you want to find a man, why choose a wild man who suddenly appeared, instead of someone excellent like Young Master Zachar? You have truly disgraced the family traditions of the White Family!"
"Vulgar! Shameless!"
The members of the White Family cursed loudly.
Megan was both angry and frustrated, too agitated to speak.
Martin, however, was not one to tolerate, squinting and saying, "What do you mean by vulgar and disgracing the family traditions? Megan and I are in a relationship by choice. She's not married, and I'm not either. Where's the vulgarity? On the contrary, you all might not be so clean yourselves!"
"Trash, how dare you insult our White Family?"
Cody, angered, was about to roll up his sleeves and take action.
Martin stared at him, sneering repeatedly. "Insult? I'm stating facts! This gentleman had quite a night yesterday! Truly impressive!"
Cody's face changed abruptly, panic in his eyes. "What are you talking about?"
"I'm not making things up, sir. Your vital energy is seriously lacking, and there are signs of deficiency in the tendons on the right wrist, indicating a loss of vital energy. Plus, you have two shallow but distinct lip marks on your neck, obviously from two different women. How can it not be a lively night for you?"
Martin chuckled lightly. "I assume you are already married, right? If you're married and still playing around like this, how do you have the face to accuse us of being vulgar?"
The White Family members all glanced at Cody's neck.
Sure enough, there were two very faint lip marks on both sides of his neck.
This was unwashed residue.
"Well, well! Cody! No wonder you came back last night looking like a dead bug. It seems you had some fun with some vixens outside! If you don't explain yourself, I'll have it out with you!"
A heavily made-up woman rushed over, scratching and clawing at Cody, wailing loudly.
"Wife, listen to my explanation. I drank a bit too much with a client last night, and I didn't do anything. It's not as he said."
Cody hurriedly explained, but it was in vain.
The woman continued to beat and scream, her cries shaking the heavens as if she wanted to lift off the ceiling.
Chaos erupted among the members of the White Family.
Aunt Lisa, furious, pointed at Martin and cursed, "You're sowing discord here! You're a despicable person!"
Martin glanced at her and sneered, "You're not any better! You seem to be Megan's aunt, right? I see your husband is infertile. Why do you look so gloomy with blue circles around your eyes and red marks on your forehead? This clearly shows signs of recent abortion. Could it be your husband's condition has improved?"
"What?"
Lisa was shocked.
"What?"
Megan's uncle widened his eyes, trembling all over, pointing at Lisa. "Is what he said true?"
"How is that possible? Samuel, he's talking nonsense! I... I didn't, don't believe him!" Lisa panicked.
"Whether I'm talking nonsense or not, you'll find out if you go to the hospital for a checkup," Martin added.
Lisa glared at Martin with resentment, wishing she could tear him to shreds.
"You bitch! Come to the hospital with me!"
Samuel grabbed Lisa's arm and pulled her forcefully outside.
Martin, feeling justified, continued to gossip.
Everyone's private matters seemed transparent before Martin.
With just a few words, the office became chaotic.
Megan looked at Martin in amazement, her eyes gleaming.
This Martin, with a few words, managed to stir up such chaos among the members of the White Family. How could he be so effective?
"Enough!"
Suddenly, Luke slammed his dragon-headed cane and shouted.
Everyone was startled and fell silent.
"Discuss whatever matters at home. Do you want to make a spectacle here for others to see?"
Luke's face turned red with anger, uncontrollable fury in his eyes. He coldly stared at Martin, "Young man! Quite the silver tongue you have! I don't know what your relationship with Megan is, but I hope you don't meddle in this mess! The situation in the company is so dire that I must replace Megan. If you insist on getting involved, once Megan is removed and loses her power, you will suffer too! So, I advise you to leave if you can, otherwise, beware of irreversible calamity!"
This was no longer a warning but a threat.
Martin remained unruffled, giving a faint smile. "All this fuss boils down to mismanagement of the company, right? If Megan turns the company around, what then?"
Megan turned around abruptly to look at him.
"Turn around? Weather the storm? Ridiculous! Do you know the current state of the company? The capital chain is broken, and several major projects are forcibly halted. If we don't have the money within three days to keep the projects running, and they encounter issues, the project partners will take White Group to court. At that point, White Group will face bankruptcy and liquidation, and Megan will be looking at over ten years of imprisonment! How do you expect her to weather the storm?"
William sneered, his eyes filled with mockery.
"You don't need to worry about these things. I just ask, what if Megan turns the company around in three days?"
Martin said calmly.
"I'll kneel publicly and bow to her three times!"
William slammed the table.
"If that's the case! White Group will be fully handed over to Megan for management, and I won't interfere!"
Luke also spoke calmly, making his stance public.
"Agreed!"
Martin declared.
"Don't be hasty; I haven't finished speaking. If, after three days, Megan can't turn the company around, I hope she can obediently go to Young Master Zachar! Let Young Master Zachar save the company! Can you agree to this?"
Luke looked at the two.
Megan's breath trembled, her face drained of color.
This was a gamble with everything she had!
But Megan hesitated only for a moment before nodding, "Grandfather, I promise you!"
Martin glanced at her sideways.
Megan wanted to give it another try!
But she seemed not to place her hope on Martin but intended to make a final desperate attempt in these last three days!
She didn't want to run away anymore; she just wanted to use every last ounce of strength and give it her all.
"Good! Hope you don't go back on your words!"
Luke said coldly, leaning on his dragon-headed cane as he walked out of the office.
