Victor Chu’s voice was trembling:”Uncle Ding, is that all true?”
“It’s true, sir. From this day on, you’ll inherit Chu’s family’s legacy in the Yunhai City, and you’ll be admitted into the list of official successor of the family.”
“My thanks, uncle Ding.”
Victor took a deep breath and found himself bordering upon crying. No one knew that he had been waiting for it for three years.
He was tossed into Chen’s family and became their live-in son-in-law, all because of a none-sense “trial” of his own family.
He spent three years working and learning his ass off just to attain the approval of Chen’s family, but on the contrary he was met with discrimination and humiliation.
He was and always would be no more than a good-for-nothing to Chen’s family.
No one treat him even just like human except Dinah!
And now the trial’s over, and there came the end of his life of disgrace.
After another deep breath, Victor went straight to the Citi Bank in the downtown.
When he left there with a big black in his hand, he still felt like he was in a dream.
As he left, dozens of people in the bank had their eyes fixed on him.
“One million? On cash? What’s his problem?”
“He didn’t even dress well. What, a silver-spoon that keeps things in a low profile?”
“He did a facial scanning to get the money, whoever does things this way definitively comes from a family wealthy enough to even compete with worldwide top companies. You guys are lucky that you didn’t judge him by how he looks like.” Said the manager, also fixed his eyes on Victor.
There were indeed one million cash in the bag.
Victor went to the biggest trading market of jewelry in the city, which is a goldfield that the wealthy all like to pay a visit to.
Daisy’s grandmother’s birthday was right on tomorrow, Victor would naturally pick something that outweighs whatever others might buy for her.
It was all about his pride.
Three years he had spent living like a dog in Chen’s family, even the servant of Chen’s family looked down upon him.
And Victor would show them how to spell ”Wealth” and “Respect” tomorrow.
He was freed after three years, but he had made up his mind that he was going to leave in a way that tells his pride and dignity as much as possible.
He found Carl’s car parked near the entrance of the market.
With no expression on his face, Victor clutched his fist and thought to himself:”Daisy...Three years, I treat you like my wife for all these three years and hoped you may change your attitude even just a bit. But you? I was only worthless bag of trash to you!”
“I’ll show you who I really am, tomorrow!
And another deep breath, he walked right in the market with that bag of cash.
The market is of medium size, there are around a hundred shops in it.
And the most famous one was a seven-floor building designed in traditional Chinese architectural style which dated back to Tang and Song dynasty: red bricks and green tiles that stood for prosperity.
It’s the Ivy Loft, the shop that posses the biggest amount of antiques, also the most expensive ones.
Victor remember the chats back in high school that whoever does shopping in that place are all at least millionaires.
When he was still a live-in son-in-law, he wouldn’t even dare looking at it.
But now, he stepped right in like it was his bedroom.
He was met with a charming smile of a lady at the reception:”Greeting, sir. How may I help you?”
“I want a membership card.” Said Victor. There are seven floors in the Ivy Loft, of which the first and the second floor are for tourists, and the rest are for its members.
The tourists zone sells mostly cheap stuffs, even fake ones, while the members zone sells authentic treasure. But membership card is required to enter there, and the cost of the card was beyond ordinary people’s afford.
The lady checked Victor out and replied, even though he didn’t look like someone that can afford a membership card:”Sir, the starter level for the card was silver and it will cost you 100,000. If you have that much money on you, we can work on it right now.”
Victor shook his head.
And the lady seemed confused:”Sir, there are no other options cheaper than that, I’m afraid you may have to shop in the tourist zone.”
“No, you got me wrong.” Said Victor, still expressionless,”I want a diamond one.”
“Di...Diamond?” Exclaimed the lady. The diamond card cost one million, but the clothing Victor was one couldn’t have cost him more than a hundred, could he really afford a diamond card?
The list of membership card of Ivy Loft goes like this: 100,000 for silver card, 250,000 for golden card, 1,000,000 for diamond card, and the mysterious VIP card that cost 10,000,000.
And the money put in the card is only allowed to be used in the Ivy Loft, which means you would have paid as much money as you put in the card to the Ivy Loft the moment you purchase a card.
Even billionaires would think it over whether it’s worth it to put one million in it in just one time.
And clearly it surprised that reception lady that Victor made his decision without a second thought.
“Cash or credit card, sir?” Asked smilingly the lady, who still had doubts but remained friendly.
“Cash.”
“Cash?” There came the astonishment on that lady again. People always paid with credit card, why and how would anyone pay with cash? Not to mention it was a one-million-cost card.
Pa!
Before the lady figured out what just happened, Victor had placed the bag on the counter and said:”Check it.”
“Y...Yes.” Still surprised, the lady replied and open the bag.
The moment she opened they bag, her eyes dilated and her hands started shaking.
The cash in the bag almost broke out of it, it was too much!
As Victor finish his business and was about to leave, he saw two people.
It was Daisy and Carl.
They’re hands were held in that of each other and looked delighted.
But as Daisy caught Victor in her sight, she the happiness on her face was replaced with anger.
And it got worse when she saw the bag in his hands. She walked up to him immediately and shouted:”Why are you delivering take-out in this place? Who asked you to? Do you have any idea of where you are?”
Food-deliver in jewelry market? What was Victor’s problem? Was he trying to get in her face and disgrace her by doing this?
Victor frowned:”That’s not why I’m here.”
“What else could it be? You’re here shopping?” Carl walked up as well, sneered.
To him, Victor was hiding behind him and Daisy lest that people may think that Daisy cheated on Victor.
“Don’t pull my legs, Carl! What can he he even afford to buy in this place?” Said Daisy before Victor got to speak , “Anything here worth ten times of selling him as a slave.”
Victor frowned again, turned around and left not wanting to waste time explaining.
“Stop, you filthy dog!”
Daisy was infuriated that Victor dare ignore her.
“Anything else you need yo say?” Said Victor, refraining his anger.
“Tomorrow at grandma’s birthday party, I’ll ask her to cancel our engagement marriage.”
“And?”
“And...You’d better not get hysterical and do something that you’ll regret.” Said Daisy, indifferently. If Victor lose his temper tomorrow, it would be her who would take the fall.
“I won’t, that shouldn’t be your worry.” Sneered Victor. He gets hysterical? Daisy was the one who risked higher chance of getting hysterical in his point of view.
“You know that better than I do.” Replied Daisy, sounded disgusted.
“”Daisy, we don’t need to waste time arguing with this good-for-nothing.” Interrupted Carl, who got irritated. He took Daisy’s hand and said:”Don’t give a damn about him, let’s go shopping for grandma’s gift.”
As he made his way to the members zone, he took a golden card out of his pocket and swung it in front of Victor’s face.
Victor just smiled and said nothing.
“Fine. Le’s get upstairs, Carl, and keep that crap out of our sight.” Said Daisy, who grabbed Carl’s arm like a couple.
Carl nodded, turned to Victor and said:”You belong to the tourist zone that filled with craps and trash, which fits you damn well! Adios, I’m going to the treasure trove with your fiance.”
Then they got upstairs.
Victor shook his head and sneered, and followed them upstairs.
“It’s true, sir. From this day on, you’ll inherit Chu’s family’s legacy in the Yunhai City, and you’ll be admitted into the list of official successor of the family.”
