Chapter 12 The Misfortune

by Piaoxue 11:55,Aug 06,2020
Andy Ye was in a good mood.

Once he and Nancy got the marriage certificate, it would settle his grandpa’s concern.

Then he would head to Kyoto and settle an old debt, since he didn’t leave his motherland voluntarily.

After all that, he would visit the one that taught him the nameless boxing technique, though he had no idea is she was still waiting for him.

It took Andy seven years to gather up her information, he would never let go of this chance.

He still had two month until the arranged date of meeting her, he had to finish all the things within it.

As he arrived the bureau, he found the two sisters waiting for him at the entrance.

One was tender and gentle but actually tough inside, another looked cold and indifferent like pissed-off Elsa.

Even Andy had to admit that few ladies in this world could compete with these two sisters.

“Huh.”

Sneered Beatrice as she saw Andy walking near, and lifted her eyes away.

She tried really hard to persuade her sisters out of marrying Andy, but Nancy was determined and didn’t even budge. She could only come with her.

“Let’s go.”

Said Beatrice, looking subtle as they all walked in the bureau.

Andy, a guy showed up from god-knows-where and became her sister’s fiance all of a sudden, had been a big trouble to them. Beatrice’s got complicated feelings about him given all the things they went through within just three days. At first she didn’t like him since she thought he’s just another ill-mannered silver-spoon, then the appreciation when Andy got the money back for them, then his outrageous refusal, could it get more complex?

It was such a relief that it finally came to an end that day.

After the certificate was licensed, Nancy and Andy will be on each others’ way and be apart for good.

The process didn’t take long. Andy smiled when it comes to the photograph, but Nancy stayed indifferent and cold, but still forced a smile under the photographer’s demand.

Click.

The picture was printed on the scarlet red marriage certificate.

“That’s it?”

Nancy thought to herself as she looked to the certificate.

She used to dream about marriage, like every other girls, in which there would be a charming prince on a snow-white horse, families would be all around, celebrating.

But now? There was nothing but coldness and hatred.

Just take it as a bad dream, maybe.

As they walked out of the bureau, Beatrice grabbed Nancy by her hand and was about to leave.

“Wait.”

Beatrice, who had been withholding her grudge the whole morning, replied indifferently as she heard Andy:”You know you can just leave now, right?”

Ignoring Beatrice, Andy lay his eyes on Nancy and perceived her disappointment, which made him quite guilty.

“I’ll try my best if there’s anything you need help with, just don’t ever interfere with my life.”Said Nancy, indifferently still.

Squinted, Andy uttered:”We should at least let our families know, it’s a marriage anyway.”

Then he took out his phone and turned on the video chat.

It was about his grandpa.

Beatrice was surprised, then nearly laugh because of anger.

There was embarrassment on Nancy’s face, but stayed anyway, for she understood why Andy asked so.

“I’ll compensate if it’s needed.”

“Huh.” Beatrice sneered again, is there anything that could make up for what this marriage did to Nancy’s reputation?

Still ignoring Beatrice, Andy was confused. It was already 9 am and his grandpa should’ve got up already, but he still didn’t answer the phone.

After like five attempts, still no answer.

Something’s wrong.

Andy immediately looked stern and serious. The servants should have the phone if it’s not in his grandpa’s hands, there should be someone answering.

Beatrice grew impatient and tried to leave with Nancy again.

“A minute!”

Exclaimed Andy, domineeringly.

“That’s enough, you bastard!” Shouted Beatrice.

Nancy looked confused and helpless. It wasn’t that she wanted to stay, but the friendship between her and Andy’s grandpa always comes first in their concern whatever happened between her and Andy.

Then, the call finally got through.

“You?”

Looking at a middle-age guy on the phone, Andy frowned and exclaimed.

The only person he loves and cares in the Ye’s family is his father, the one who always smiled so benignly and always called him sonny.

Even though everyone, including this middle-age man who used to be his father, abandon him, grandpa still sheltered and protected him whatever the cost might be.

He owed him so much.

“He’s gone.”

As if hit by a lightning, Andy’s face turned pale and almost lost his footing.

“Funeral’s on today, come if it’s at your convenience, it’s also fine if you can’t.”

The the call was hung up.

Pa!

The phone in Andy’s hand was squeezed so hard and shattered into pieces. The vein on his forehead dilated and homicidal rage started emitting out of him.

Nancy was no less surprised. Andy’s grandpa was gone?

How could it be? She met him not long ago, and he looked healthy like a athlete, what could’ve caused it in such a short time?

“He’s...dead?”

Asked Beatrice, who’s also surprised, but soon she was irritated:”Why didn’t they tell him this earlier? You could’ve avoid this thing, this goddamn marriage certificate. Damn, why didn’t he die sooner?”

“Beatrice!” Screamed Nancy, scared by what her sister said.

“Shut up!”

It immediately drove Andy incensed, he dashed near Beatrice in no time and slapped toward her.

Not even a bear could endure such a slap, not to mention a girl like Beatrice. But the grandpa’s death had made Andy reckless, for there was really nothing for him to concern.

And whoever dared insulting him shall die!

But as Andy’s hand was coming down, Nancy stepped in front of Beatrice.

As incensed as Andy was, his ration remained, which made him withdrew the power as much as he could.

Pa!

Nancy was slapped down on the ground, whose face immediately swelled up.

“What’s the hell is wrong with you! Why do you do this, bastard!?” Beatrice was pissed as well.

Face still twitching, Andy’s blood-red eyes were laid on Beatrice.

Immediately, Beatrice felt like that she was targeted by a hungry lion, fear drove her into sweating and stiff, incapable of saying even one more word.

“Beatrice!”

Nancy stepped in front of her again and looked at Andy, begging:”She’s just too outspoken, but she doesn’t mean it, I promise! Sorry, Andy.”

Beatrice was sacred. She had sensed that she could’ve been killed if it wasn’t for Nancy.

Suddenly, Andy’s anger was all gone as he stared at Nancy on whose face the mark of that slap was still clear, which reminded him of Nancy curling up in the corner of the sofa yesterday morning.
