CHAPTER 3 – Anna

An hour later, I was sitting on the corner of the bed in Roman’s t-shirt while the boys sat and yelled at each other. It was obvious that they weren’t going to agree on what to do with me.

At least I had something to cover my naked body. Roman went out of his way not to look. And I have to say that he could have at least peeked a little. It chapped my hide that he acted so affronted at my body. I might not have the best rack around. But I was trim, and my boobs hadn’t had any complaints before.

I smelled like the motel soap and had tried to finger comb my long dark hair. As a result, I probably looked like something the cat had dragged in. But on the flip side, I didn’t smell like blood or vomit anymore, so things had to be looking up… At least I hoped that was the case.

It was strange when my cell phone went off blaring the latest Taylor Swift tune. I had almost forgotten that I had it with me.

Luke and Roman immediately stopped their arguing to yell at me.

“Don’t touch that!”

But it was too late; I had already swiped it open.

“Mom?” I said hesitantly.

“Baby!” mom’s voice filled the room, “Anna, are you alright? We have been looking for you everywhere. Daddy and I are worried sick.”

I felt a knot in my stomach forming, “Mom, I am fine. Tell Daddy that there is nothing wrong. I just…”

The phone was ripped out of my hand. Roman crushed it in his fist.

“What the hell?” I shouted, “That was my phone!”

“It was a way for them to track us,” he spat, “Think with your head, Princess.”

“Why do you call me that? And my parents are worried sick!”

Roman rolled his eyes, and I fought the urge to kick him.

“Your parents are worried because there was a Lycan attack in their area, and they need to get it contained.”

My brow furrowed, “Who did that?”

Luke and Roman turned on me incredulously, “You!”

I blinked, “I didn’t mean to do anything.”

I could tell that Roman was seconds from throttling me. And I was thankful when Luke intervened. “Look, Anna, we were able to save Jimmy, but the signs of your attack were still present. We didn’t have time to clean it up. We were lucky to save your date before the hunters arrived. Your parents cover the Greenfield area. They have to have some suspicions about the attack. And the fact that you turned up missing right after, well, that can’t look good.”

“Maybe they will think I was attacked as well,” I said hopefully.

Roman scoffed, “You said yourself that your mother was suspicious. You honestly can’t be that naive, Princess.”

He said, princess like he really meant to say dog shit.

“So, what now, geniuses?” I wasn’t about to let it show that I was on the verge of breaking.

“We have no choice; if the government is on to us, we will have to take you to the pack.”

Luke sighed and agreed with Roman, “It is your only hope of survival. They have the things you need to help you through the transition. There are parts of being a Lycan…”

He trailed off. His cheeks heated.

Roman growled, “They can explain that if they choose to keep her alive.”

I stood in my borrowed t-shirt that hit mid-thigh and wobbled on my soggy heels.

“Well, let’s go.”

**

“Don’t say anything to anyone,” Roman hissed in my ear. “Don’t meet anyone’s gaze and for fuck’s sake don’t open your mouth.”

I wanted to stick my tongue out at him, but the pack was really creeping me out. We were in a large mansion just outside of state lines. I would never have found the place on my own. Luke said that the car would be cleaned and returned to the place they ‘borrowed’ it.

I felt stupid in my ridiculous outfit and uncombed hair. But there was nothing I could do about it. Luke mentioned that there would be simps back at the pack that I could drink from. It was strange to say, but I was getting thirsty again.

I also was feeling turned on. Maybe it was the lack of panties or the fact that Roman was shirtless, and he had an eight pack that I desperately wanted to touch. It was a good thing he was such a jerk, or I think I would have pounced on him.

Desire had never been something I struggled with before. I was a virgin and didn’t have former experience to call from. But my core ached, and my nipples had beaded tight beneath my shirt. Something was happening again, something out of my control.

The deeper we went into the pack, the more I heard sounds of moaning coming from various closed doors. I felt hot and achy and completely uncertain of why I was feeling this way. I stumbled and fell against Roman’s back. He stiffened before he caught me and set me up again.

But it was too late. My nose had taken in his scent, and my body had decided it didn’t care if he was a jerk or not. I lunged at him, my mouth savagely taking his in a kiss.

I heard Luke yell, “Holy Fuck! She’s going through the change!”

But I didn’t care. All I knew was that Roman’s mouth tasted dark and sinful and I wanted more of it. My pussy was bare against his abs, and I know that he could feel how wet I was. I rubbed against his washboard stomach and wound my fingers in his hair.

He didn’t push me away, but he wasn’t exactly kissing me back either. It was like he was fighting his inner nature. I knew he wanted me. I couldn’t tell you how I knew, but he did. I pulled on his hair, demanding a response when I felt the prick of a needle in my arm.

Darkness overtook me again.

**

When I awakened, I was strapped to a bed, my arms and legs spread to the corners. I screamed and thrashed against my chains. The metal seemed to burn my skin, and I hissed trying to keep my hands away from it.

“This is the girl?” It was a woman’s voice. She stepped into the light, and I saw a dark-haired woman of unknown age. She was truly beautiful. Unlike any person I had ever seen before.

I held her gaze, forgetting everything Roman had warned me of.

“Who are you?” I asked defiantly.

A smile pricked at her lips, “Feisty.”

“Why am I here?” I demanded.

The woman’s smile fell, “That is a good question. My son seems to think there is a reason to keep you around.”

I thought of Luke and how kind he had been. Not like that jerk Roman who wanted to stake me.

“Where is Luke?” I asked.

“The Alpha?” the woman shook her head, “How should I know? I am speaking of the other Alpha, Roman.”

As if on cue, the man that I was quickly starting to hate, stepped out of the shadows.

“If you think she is worth saving you will have to be the one to tend to her. She is too dangerous to be left on her own.”

He gritted his teeth in a familiar pattern that set me on edge.

“This is your son?” I spat. “I should have known! You are both equally as kind and understanding.”

The woman looked back at me, and in an instant, she smacked my cheek.

Tears gathered in my eyes, but I refused to let them fall.

“You will need to learn some manners if you are to become one of us.”

I vowed then and there that I would escape this hell hole one way or another. The last thing I wanted was to become one of them.
