chapter 11 : You are the one in the bowl

For Helena Lu, the constant pressure from her family to find a boyfriend had become unbearable. Even after returning to school, her mother would call her from time to time, trying to pair her up with potential boyfriends. So, Helena Lu had no choice but to stage this act with Eiland.
But when Helena Lu heard Eiland mention the hidden audio recording devices in the room, her first thought was that her mother, Lin Hui, was behind it. Her frustration instantly turned into anger, and she was ready to confront Lin Hui.
Eiland grabbed Helena Lu and asked, "Are you planning to confront your mother?"
"Yes," Helena Lu replied.
Eiland shrugged and said, "If you feel sure about it, go ahead. But before you do, let me remind you that bringing me here was for the purpose of deceiving your parents. If you confront your mother now, our secret will be exposed, and this whole charade will be for nothing."
"But my mother's actions are too much," Helena Lu said, her face flushed. Then, curiosity flashed in her eyes as she looked at Eiland. She asked, "By the way, how did you know there were hidden audio recording devices in my room? Are you sure you're telling the truth?"
Eiland hesitated. It wasn't a good time to be dishonest. He finally said, "Grace told me."
"Oh?" Helena Lu scrutinized Eiland. This made Eiland feel uneasy. He quickly added, "Even if it wasn't Grace who told me, with my professional eye, I could tell there were audio recording devices in your room."
Saying this, Eiland walked to the bedside, dismantled the alarm clock, and took out a listening device.
"This..."
"Shh, don't speak out loud." Eiland covered the device with his hand and lowered his voice. "Now you have two choices. One is to put the listening device back exactly where it was, as if nothing happened. The second is to take it and ask your mother about it. But if you do that, our relationship will also be exposed. This whole act will have been in vain. The choice is yours."
Helena Lu gritted her teeth and said, "Fine, put it back."
Eiland gave a faint smile. This was within his expectations. He gently returned the listening device, and then the two of them nonchalantly returned to the living room.
That night, everyone chatted in the living room until eleven o'clock. In the end, everyone couldn't stay awake any longer and went to bed. Helena Lu's cousin slept on the sofa, and Eiland and Helena Lu returned to the room.
"Darling, let's go to sleep." Eiland made a face at Helena Lu and deliberately raised his voice.
Helena Lu glared at him and didn't say a word. Instead, she opened the wardrobe, grabbed a pillow and two blankets, and tossed them at Eiland. The message was clear—she would take the bed, and Eiland would sleep on the floor.
Eiland didn't mind at all. He started to set up his sleeping area.
However, after doing all this, he sat on the edge of the bed, which startled Helena Lu. The listening device was right there, and she didn't dare to speak recklessly. She kicked him in the butt, catching Eiland off guard. He was sent sprawling to the floor.
"Serves you right!" Helena Lu muttered under her breath.
Eiland stood up, walked around to the other side of the bed, and whispered to Helena Lu, "Principal, don't think that just because we didn't take the listening device out, your mother won't suspect anything. You need to consider that we're a man and a woman, alone in a room. If we have no interactions, your mother will still find it unusual."
"What else do you want?" Helena Lu glared fiercely at Eiland. This guy was becoming bolder and bolder.
Eiland quickly waved his hand. "Principal, you're overthinking things. I won't do anything to you."
"Humph, you better not. Are you eyeing my sister with those thieving eyes of yours?"
"Uh, why would I?"
"It's best if you don't. Today, I kept seeing you whispering with my sister. She's naive and easily fooled, so you better not have any motives. Otherwise, I'll make sure you can't stay at this school anymore."
Eiland chuckled. "Rest assured, Principal. I won't go any further than this."
"You’d better be."
Eiland laughed and said, "Alright, let's get back on track. Have you seen 'Yu Zui' [a TV show]? YiShan Zhang had a whole bed scene all to himself."
"Are you telling me to call?"
Eiland was momentarily stunned. He had thought that someone like Principal Lu wouldn't watch online dramas. He didn't expect her to. Since she did, he could explain it easily. He said, "In 'Yu Zui,' Yu Zui stayed in a hotel, so bed scenes naturally come with sound. But now we're in your house. We have to suppress any noises, right?"
"So, what's your plan?"
"Just watch."
Eiland grinned and sat on the edge of the bed again. Then, he pressed down with his butt, causing the bed to shake. At first, Helena Lu only felt a slight sway, probably because her bed was of good quality. But with Eland’s rhythmic movements, the bed started to creak.
"Ah!"
As the sound grew louder, Helena Lu finally realized what was happening. She let out a cry, then quickly covered her mouth. Her face was now beet red. This rascal... he was just too shameless.
Eiland continued his rhythmic movements. When he heard Helena Lu's voice, he couldn't help but give a thumbs-up. "Not bad, you're quite cooperative."
"Get lost!" Helena Lu said through gritted teeth.
And so, Eiland kept this rhythmic noise for a full half hour. Then he stopped, wiped away some imaginary sweat, and deliberately raised his voice. "Darling, I'm exhausted. Let's sleep early."
Helena Lu shot Eiland a glare, then pulled the blanket over herself, covering her entire body.
From then on, Helena Lu struggled to fall asleep. It was destined to be a sleepless night. She tossed and turned, unable to find rest. The events of the day kept replaying in her mind. Especially when she thought of Eiland, her anger grew. She gradually realized that bringing Eiland here was like inviting a pervert into her home.
Eiland, this guy, initially gave her the impression of being a bit rascally, but also somewhat honest. However, the more she got to know him, the more she felt that Eiland was like a puzzle. Faced with someone like him, she even felt a bit afraid to interact.
Furthermore, Helena Lu had never been so intimate with a man before. How could she dare to sleep easily?
She continued to toss and turn, not knowing how much time had passed. Eventually, drowsiness overcame her, and she fell asleep.
