After seeing Chuck Hao walk away, Lilian's tears couldn't be held back any longer. Lincoln quickly reached out for her hand and asked, "Lilian, are you okay?"
A mark of five fingerprints showed up on Lilian's pretty face. She pointed at Lincoln and exclaimed, "You hit me because of another woman. I'm going to tell my mom when I go back!"
Lincoln's expression changed, and he hurriedly explained, "Do you know who that woman was just now? She's Susan, the eldest daughter of The Su Enterprises in Beijing!"
Lilian was stunned, and she covered her face, saying, "Is... Is she the woman who came to River City for investment? She called Chuck Hao 'dear' just now. How does Chuck Hao know her?"
"Come in," Kevin's voice suddenly came from the ward. Lillian wiped her tears and followed Lincoln into the room.
Inside the ward, Kevin was frowning. Lincoln quickly updated, "I've completed the hospital formalities. We'll be transferring Eileen to the best hospital in the Capital."
Kevin sighed and asked, "I overheard your conversation at the door. You mean the girl earlier is the eldest daughter of The Su Enterprises in Beijing?"
Lincoln was taken aback and questioned, "Have you met Chuck Hao?"
Kevin nodded and replied, "It's too late now, too late for everything. Chuck Hao just said they got married this morning."
Lilian and Lincoln stood there, frozen. When they heard Susan call Chuck Hao 'dear', they were puzzled and couldn't make sense of it. But now, Kevin's words completely astounded them.
"Susan, the eldest daughter of The Su Enterprises, is married to Chuck Hao?"
Chuck Hao, once a simple guy, was blind before. Now, it seemed he had faked his blindness. But no matter what, they still couldn't accept the truth.
"Susan just told me!" Kevin raised his aged hand, covered his weary face, and said, "She thanked me for giving her such an excellent person as Chuck Hao."
"Impossible, Chuck Hao? Can he be called excellent? You don't even know how ragged he is. He wears the cheapest clothes made of the poorest fabric. It costs just a few dollars. Besides, his actions are like that of a country bumpkin!" Lilian retorted, "How could someone like Susan fall for him? She must have been deceived."
"Yeah, you all say he's so imperfect, but have you given a thought to why Susan likes him? And after our divorce, he immediately found Chuck Hao and married him?" Kevin said, "Susan... probably had her eye on Chuck Hao for a while."
Lincoln and Lilian wanted to argue, but faced with the undeniable facts, they felt powerless.
"Hmm..." Kevin sighed, pointed at Lilian, and said, "Lilian, come here."
Lilian approached. "Grandpa."
"Tell me honestly, what happened with that video?" Kevin demanded.
Lilian gritted her teeth and then said tearfully, "Both my dad and my sister looked down on Chuck Hao. They asked me to invite him over and embarrass him. I asked Chuck Hao to give me a massage, and then I pulled him in close. Then, my sister and Left City came in and recorded a video, making it look like he was harassing me. I..." She finished, her voice growing fainter.
Seeing Kevin's increasingly desperate expression, Lincoln quickly interjected, "Dad, I think Susan must have been misled by something. Chuck Hao doesn't seem like..."
"Get out!" Kevin erupted, pointing at the door. "If Eileen dies, it will be you, her father, and your sister who killed her with your own hands!"
...
Outside the hospital, Chuck Hao and Susan stood together, waiting for a bus. Susan was still holding onto Chuck Hao's arm, her fragrance subtly enveloping him, wafting into his nose. Chuck Hao fought to remain composed, despite the rush of sensations.
Their striking appearance drew the attention of many. As they waited for the bus, Chuck Hao overheard at least ten men muttering curses, "She's a diamond in the rough."
Susan smiled slightly and remarked, "I hope I didn't embarrass you."
"Of course not," Chuck Hao responded. "When Lincoln and Lillian find out you're my wife, I'm sure they won't be too pleased."
Just then, a taxi pulled up. Susan opened the door and settled in the backseat with Chuck Hao. After she gave the driver her destination, she turned to Chuck Hao and explained, "Let's head to the White Tooth Pagoda."
The White Tooth Pagoda was a famous tourist spot in River City. It housed the White Elephant Temple, a thousand-year-old temple surrounded by picturesque landscapes, attracting countless visitors.
Though Chuck Hao had heard of it, his previous blindness had kept him from experiencing it firsthand.
As the car began to move, Susan smiled slightly and said, "I studied at Donghai University. I met Sister Ran Ran there. It's not far from the White Tooth Pagoda. Whenever I was unhappy during college, I would go to meditate at the White Elephant Temple on the White Tooth Pagoda."
"So... you're facing some trouble?" Chuck Hao asked, genuinely intrigued.
Susan nodded and replied, "Yes, we'll talk about it in detail when we get to the White Tooth Pagoda."
Chuck Hao smiled faintly, sensing that the real purpose of Susan's marriage was about to unfold.
...
As Chuck Hao and Susan were en route to the White Tooth Pagoda, in the heart of River City, a robust man entered a room in the courtyard of the Luo Enterprises.
Ordinary the Luo Enterprises employees were prohibited from entering this room. The room was brimming with valuable antiques that could fetch exorbitant prices.
The Luo Enterprises outwardly operated a martial arts gym, maintaining a low profile.
The room was filled with an array of antiques, each possessing a value so high that even the thought of selling just one could fetch an astronomical price.
The Luo Enterprises maintained an air of modesty, only revealing its martial arts gym to the public. However, their assets surpassed those of nearly anyone in River City.
A burly man carefully examined an antique, and shortly thereafter, a concealed door in the room creaked open. The man reverently knelt before the door and addressed it, "Sir, the Luo Enterprises's seventh-generation head, Luo Mo, has a message to convey."
"What is it?" A raspy voice emanated from the dark recesses beyond the hidden door, the air thick with a hint of blood.
"Sir, an individual visited our premises today, claiming to seek an audience with you," the strong man reported.
"Could you discern their identity?" The hoarse voice inquired once more.
"I couldn't ascertain that," Luo Mo responded. "Furthermore, there's news about Chuck Hao, the person you instructed me to monitor. He's now in River City and engaged to the daughter of the Lin Enterprises."
A lengthy silence enveloped the secret chamber before the voice within whispered, "Considering the timeline, the day of reckoning for that young woman is nearly upon us."
