chapter 14 Become a disciple

Maximilian ignored the others, focusing solely on his acupuncture.
Solarius noticed his 'Soul-Returning Nine Needles' technique, but was unaware that the chaotic true qi circulating within his body was an unparalleled treasure for healing illness. When combined with the 'Soul-Returning Nine Needles', it could yield unexpected results.
In the peaceful silence, time slowly passed.
Approximately 20 minutes later, Maximilian removed the silver needles one by one, saying nonchalantly, "It's done. Old Mr. Kendyll is cured."
"Cured? How is that possible? Do you think we're all fools?"
Lucian was somewhat curious about Maximilian's acupuncture, but he couldn't believe that just a few needles could cure a patient's lung disease, especially such a severe case that was on the brink of death.
Sara said, "Indeed, isn't my grandfather still unconscious?"
"He'll be fine soon."
As Maximilian spoke, he patted the public region of Seraphim. The old man exhaled a murky breath, and the color returned to his previously pale face. He opened his eyes and abruptly sat up on the bed.
Lucian was startled and backed away a few steps. If it weren't daytime, he would have thought the old man was rising from the dead.
He was the most familiar with Seraphim's condition. The data from the recent tests were so severe that death could occur at any moment.
Yet, this man had just sat up from the bed, which was unbelievable to him.
Moros and Sara, however, were overjoyed.
"Father, you've woken up?"
"Grandfather, you finally woke up. You scared me to death!"
Both of them held Seraphim's hand, crying tears of joy.
"Enough, enough. Stop crying. Let me, the old man, move around a bit. I've been lying down for so long that my bones are rusty."
After saying this, Seraphim shook off the two of them, got out of bed, and started walking slowly on the ground.
At first, his pace was slow, but after a few steps, his movements became smoother, and he quickly returned to normal.
The onlookers were amazed. Just a moment ago, they were preparing for his death, and now he was as lively as a dragon. This drastic change was hard to accept.
Lucian was dumbstruck. It took him a while to close his gaping mouth and said, "This can't be real. This might be a temporary recovery before death, old man, I need to conduct a body check on you."
Seraphim said, "A temporary recovery before death, my ass! Watch your words! I know my body, and it's doing well. At least for the next ten years, the king of hell won't come looking for me."
Lucian said awkwardly, "Old man, I misspoke just now. But I still think it's better to have a check-up."
Sara said, "Grandfather, you should have a check-up. We'll only be at ease after the check-up."
Seraphim said, "Alright then, I'll do it as you wish."
After saying this, he lay back on the bed. Lucian and his assistants began to re-examine him with the equipment.
The test results were out soon. Looking at the results in his hand, Lucian's eyes nearly popped out.
If it hadn't been for the fact that he had done the examination himself, he would have thought that the data was from two different people. The latest test results showed that Seraphim was in excellent health.
Especially the lung function test, everything was normal. The original fluid accumulation in the lungs had disappeared, and there were no signs of fibrosis.
"This is impossible, absolutely impossible!"
Looking at the lab data in his hand, he stood there stupefied, repeatedly saying "This is impossible."
Seraphim sat up again and said to Solarius, "Solarius, I owe you a big thanks this time. I didn't need you to tell me that you saved my life!"
Solarius stepped forward and said, "Brother, you've got it wrong this time. I, the old man, wanted to save you, but I wasn't capable of it.
The one who saved you from the king of hell was this young brother, Dr. Maximilian Karsyn."
A look of astonishment flashed across Seraphim's face, "Maximilian, you're truly remarkable. I didn't expect such a young man to possess such superb medical skills. I owe you my life.
From now on, you are the Kendyll family's life-saving benefactor. Your business is our business."
Maximilian said indifferently, "Old man, you're too polite. Your illness is nothing to us in traditional Chinese medicine."
After saying this, he turned to look at Lucian, "Dr. Deangelo, isn't it time for you to fulfill your promise?"
Hearing his words, everyone's gaze fell on Lucian. They remembered that the two had made a bet earlier.
"This..."
Lucian's face turned the color of a pig's liver. He was indeed impressed by Maximilian's medical skills, but it would be quite painful to cough up one million all at once.
Moros's face darkened, "Dr. Deangelo, I was the witness. You're not planning to go back on your word, are you?"
He was very dissatisfied with Lucian now. This guy had repeatedly told him to prepare for his father's funeral, then said it was a temporary recovery before death, and now he wanted to go back on his word after losing the bet. What did he think the Kendyll family was?
Lucian shuddered. He was very clear about the power of the Kendyll family. They held a high status in River South Province and even the whole of China.
If he upset the Kendyll family today, he wouldn't be able to leave River South City, or his career as a doctor would be over.
Without a choice, he took a checkbook from his assistant, wrote a check for one million, and handed it to Maximilian.
Maximilian took the check and looked at it, saying, "I've received the money, but don't forget your promise."
"Don't worry. Tomorrow, I will apologize to traditional Chinese medicine in all the major media in China."
After saying this, Lucian left the Kendyll family with his team in a dejected manner.
As soon as he left, Solarius came over to Maximilian and said, "I want to take you as my master. What do you think?"
He was not joking. Ever since he saw the 'Soul-Returning Nine Needles', he had been deeply impressed by this young man. He was about to kneel down to perform the ceremony of accepting a master.
Maximilian was startled and quickly helped him up.
"Old man, this won't do. I can't accept you as a disciple."
He admired Mr. Prisca's character. He was an old man who genuinely contributed to the development of traditional Chinese medicine.
However, Solarius said unhappily, "Maximilian, are you looking down on this old man? I sincerely want to learn traditional Chinese medicine from you."
Maximilian quickly said, "Not at all. You are highly respected. How can you take me as your master?
How about this? No matter what you learn in the future, I promise not to hide anything from you."
"That won't do. In our field of traditional Chinese medicine, we emphasize the transmission of knowledge from master to disciple. That won't do. I have to take you as my master," Solarius said, "In our field, those who achieve are masters. Don't consider the matter of age."
Seeing the old man's determination, Maximilian could only say with a bitter smile, "No matter how you put it, I can't accept you as a disciple. How about this? I'll accept you as a disciple on behalf of my master. You'll be studying under my master's school."
