Chapter 11 Was Our Marriage A Sham?

by G Point 15:23,Sep 18,2020
Rosemary Johnson was so heartbroken, she arranged her clothes proper in silence and got off the car quietly.

Before she stood still, the car brushed her side at a high speed. Her whole body wobbled, nearly falling on the ground.

It was not easy to take a taxi at such a remote place late at night. She tried to calm down, then walked forward home step by step.

She would rather walk home on her foot than stay with that man.

...

Two hours later, Rosemary almost fell on the ground in weak at the moment she opened the door of her house.

In the cozy living-room which was filled with warm light, Jack Lewis was sitting on the sofa and watching a photo album in his cotton slippers.

He slightly frowned when he heard the sound from the door. He stood up and walked to the door, but Rosemary already walked in the house. She bent down to change her slippers at the porch.

Jack took the bag from her hand and looked worried,“Rosemary, what happened? You look terrible.”

“Nothing happened.”she answered with a pale face. The long walk costed her too much energy.

Wearing a high heel, she walked so far till all her power ran out. At the end, she took off her shoes and walked on the rough asphalt road on her bare feet. She walked a long way home that her feet were abraded.

But the pain of her feet was not as much as one in a million of the pain in her heart.

She gave him a pacifying smile, asking "Is Ryan sleeping?”.

“I took him to his bedroom to sleep.”

Glancing at the blood on her shoulder, he was getting seriously worried and took a step forward . His look became heavy,"Rosemary, tell me what happened?

“I am fine. It was just a small crash."

Rosemary did not get used to being so close to him, so she cat-feet back several steps, saying quietly,“Jack, it is late, I’m going to bed upstairs .”

Jack knew he was not welcomed now. Although, he felt a little upset, he asked carefully “Rosemary, can I stay here with you tonight?”.

“I am sorry”, she answered.

By now, Jack had to say good night with Rosemary and took his coat and left.

She sent him out and went to sleep after turning off the light in the living room. As she took a bath, she looked down on her right shoulder.

That man's teeth were so sharp that the bite wound was quite deep. The blood still could be seen through the two rows of teeth-bite-marks.

She stood up under the shower, letting the hot water wash over her wound. Her heart was aching.

The night of seven years ago, she was waiting for that man happily at home, but waited back a drunken man who had his hands around her neck and pushed her to the bed.

“Rosemary, do you know that you are just an accessory of our commercial marriage!”

One word made her heart dead like ashes.

That man grabbed her hands tightly and fucked her hard, regardless of her increasingly pale face and misery looks. He just stared at her with a pair of heartless beautiful eyes.

After he finished the sex, he left her mercilessly, telling her "Rosemary, I will never truly fall in love with you”.

She curled up her body on the messy bed with tears on her delicate face.

Charles Hockley, I loved you so much. Do you know that?

I had loved you for ten years.
...

Ryan Johnson got up early, did the washing and dress-up all by himself.

He was early-maturing at a young age and knew how to take care of others. In order to let Rosemary sleep a little longer, he took a small stool to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. When it was all ready, he went upstairs to wake her up.

“Mom, get up for breakfast or you will be late at work.

Listening to the cute voice of her baby boy, Rosemary opened her eyes and slowly sat up from the bed with a dizzy head which made her a spiritless look.

Seeing that mom's face did not look good, Ryan climbed onto the bed, and touched Rosemary 's forehead with his little hand. He frowned and told her, "Mom, you have a little fever".

The boy jumped off the bed and came back with a medical kit.

The smart and sensitive little guy made Rosemary feel so warm. She raised her hand to touch his head and said, "Mom is fine, baby. Don't worry. Today I have a very important meeting. Mom has to rush to the company."

“No, you must rest at home!”Ryan said seriously, while putting a sterilized thermometer into Rosemary's mouth.

"Your company won’t close down without you. You must ask for leave today!" the boy insisted.

Rosemary nodded and made a gesture of OK.
