Gwen had an impulse to put forward this possibility; but she refrained herself the second she opened her mouth; If she did, she would be forced to speak out everything that happened last night. No food, no water, no light, no one, Gwen Wen sat very stiff in the corner with her arms around her knees. Images of her mother falling ill, of her being coaxed into wearing that dazzling dress, of her being handcuffed right after driving that fancy car out for a ride and even of Hugh Lu lying beside her peacefully and quietly rushed to her head.

Darkness made her lose count of the time; no one had asked whether she had been done reflecting on herself and figured out how to better take care of Hugh Lu; maybe Lu Family had forgotten her, maybe that was the original intention of the Master, to leave her die like this; people like her dead quietly in the Lu Family, no one would even care.

Hungry and thirsty, she leaned against the wall, panting heavily and gasping for air, and she was finally sure of one thing in the darkness.

The Lu Family would take her life at any moment.

"I know I was wrong...Let me out...I will take good care of Hugh Lu...If I were to break my arm or my foot if I were to die, I would never let Hugh Lu get hurt a bit more...Please, let me go..."
