Chapter 15 “Toy boy”!

Since returning to the Wen Family, Master no longer restricted Gwen Wen's access.

Gwen Wen knew that wherever she went, Lus would find her back, and she also knew there was no place for her except Lu's house.

This was the Master of the house's method; he gave her the complete freedom, but an invisible chain was tied to her securely. She could never escape.

But in any case, it was good that she was allowed in and out of the house. She first bought herself a cheap cellphone, got a SIM card, then hesitated for a moment before editing a text message and sending it to a number that she knew by heart.

Within a minute, call came in; "Shit, Gwen Wen, is that how you treat your good buddy. I did not know that you got released early till I called the prison. What took you so long to reach me; I was worried."

Nick Bai's yell came out of the receiver, bringing an warmth to Gwen Wen’s heart.

No one but Nick Bai had believed that she was set up and took Anne Wen’s place as the culprit; and later, while she was almost beaten to death in prison, it was Nick Bai who begged his family to save her life on the terms of going abroad for further study and taking over the family business.

She would probably have been dead by now without him.

"It's not my fault," Gwen Wen said with a smile. " It was also out of my expectation that I could get out. Besides, I have tried your domestic phone number but got no answer and I couldn't find your foreign number."

"Come have dinner with me, Gwen. The moment I got the news of you being released I had made an excuse to take a trip home!"

Nick Bai had been waiting there while Gwen arrived at the agreed place; he greeted her with a big hug." I was sorry."

Gwen shook her head. " It's over; at least, I am out here alive and kicking."

Nick Bai took a soulful look at her eyes; there was a trace of tiredness in them; her thinner figure and unacquainted maturity told him that three years in prison had not been treating her very well.

"Enough of that; let’s eat, I am starving."
Gwen broke the silence, not wanting to burden this hard-won meeting by such a heavy topic.

Sitting down, they inquired after each others’ recent situations.

" You married to...?"

Nick Bai nearly bit on his plate at the name of Hugh Lu; not knowing Hugh Lu, Nick Bai had heard enough of his mystery and ferocity.

He was a predator, heartless,merciless and brutal to his prey.

"Gwen, divorce him, you don’t wanna get involved with him; I would arrange you to go abroad, where you could start over!"

"No, they got me out of the prison. There is no way they will let go of me so easily?"

Nick's eyes darkened; he knew the power and influence of Lu Family; Bai Family stood no chance against them.

"Sorry, Gwen, it's my incompetence that you..."

"Don’t say that. I owed you my life."
Gwen Wen grasped Nick's hands and said, "Don't worry, I'm fine. The Lu Family doesn't seem to have any bad intention on me. That's what matters."

"Besides, I am not ready to die, not yet, I haven’t pay Wens back for what they have done to me."
Gwen consoled him.

Not far away, a laser-like gaze fell on the on her, sending a chill down her spine.

She turned around to check but see nothing unusual.

Her insecurity feeling grew stronger; she looked around several times till the the new cell phone’s ringtone caught her attention; a string of unfamiliar numbers.

Gwen Wen answered, and immediately from the other end came a cold, raw voice: "Gwen Wen, how does the toy boy’s steak taste?"

Gwen Wen was startled, and as she looked up at Nick Bai, he was placing a steak cut from his plate in her plate!

She jumped to her feet anxiously, knocking over the chair, and stared with her eyes wide opened around: "You’re stalking me?!"

The feeling of being spied on in the dark made Gwen sweat in fear. He was hiding in the darkness, like a predator, ready to ambush her at any second.

He even had her new telephone number clearly; was her each saying and doing under his surveillance?!

While she was still panic, the man's cold, dark voice came again from the other end: "Meet your toy boy behind my back? Gwen Wen, my patience is really worn out by you, I will see you tonight!"
