Chapter 10 Whose Car Is This?

Josh Lin headed back to school after he left the 4S shop. Tiger wasn’t at school that day, probably still in hospital, and people were still talking about the mysterious donation from one of the students in school who’s apparently super wealthy.

Josh found a pile of cash in his desk, twenty thousand, along with a note on which was written:”Thank you for trying to help me, but I can’t just take the money like that.”

There wasn’t a name on the note, but Josh knew clearly that it was Jane that put the money back.

“What is she thinking about...why would anyone turn down such a help? Interesting.” Josh smiled as he thought to himself. He looked up and fixed his eyes on Jane sitting in front of him, thinking about how different Jane was from his ex-girlfriend, and it was at that moment that Josh found himself kind of having a thing to Jane.

Fatty, Josh’s deskmate, walked up to him and patted him on his back:”Dude, you’ve got a girlfriend already! Stop staring at her like that!”

“Not anymore, I broke up with Faye, couple days ago.”

“Wait, seriously? Why?” Fatty was surprised.

“She loves money more than me.” Said Josh, shrugged.

“That’s why you’ve been acting weird these days. I get you man, breaking up is always hard.” Said Fatty, soon he patted on Josh’s shoulder and continued,”Don’t be obsessed with it, bro, drinks on me tonight!”

That’s how Fatty dealt with heart-broken friends, and Josh didn’t find it annoying:”Sure!”

Eight pm that night, Josh arrived at the bar where Fatty booked a table for them. It was noisy and crowded in the bar and Josh never liked that kind of environment.

“Here, Josh!” Shouted Fatty from a seat.

Josh nodded and walked near, Fatty whispered to him as he sat down:”I’ve got you a pretty girl here, bro, just forget about that Faye!”

Josh didn’t know until then that Fatty’s trying to help him in this way in case he’s still depressed from the break up. It was not necessary since Josh didn’t really care about it, but still it impressed Josh, and moved him a bit.

There are other two girls there with them, one was Mei Zhou, Fatty’s girlfriend, the other was Julia Guo, the girl that Fatty wanted to hook Josh up with.

“Cone on, buddy, boys should do the intro first!” Said Fatty as he gave Josh a nudge.

As uninterested as Josh was, he had to do it in respect of Fatty’s effort. He reached his hand out and said:”Hi, I’m Josh.”

As for Julia, she lost her interest in Josh ever since she noticed the clothes on him. Mouth pouty and face written with a tinge of disappointment, she replied indifferently without accepting the handshake:”Julia.”

Josh shook his head and smiled out of bitterness, he knew that Julia looked down upon him.

“So it is Josh that you want Julia to meet, Fatty. Why don’t you tell her more about Josh’s family?” Said Mei.

Josh frowned, apparently Mei’s trying to mock him since she knew that Josh came from a poor family. Josh never liked Mei, he used to warned Fatty of not being together with her, but Fatty valued a girlfriend before nearly everything.

“I’m just a ghetto boy, that’s pretty much it.” Said Josh.

Fatty sensed the awkwardness and said:”Well, don’t call yourself like that, bro! We both know that a straight-A student like you would surely be a Mr Big in the future!

“Mr Big? What kind of job do you think people in your school could ind? Probably the money he could earn in his whole life can’t even cover a quarter of the cost of a silver-spoon’s car!” Sneered Julia.

“That’s right! Someone in our school just donated ten million to the school, people who come from a family like Josh would never even be anywhere close to be a person like that!” Mei continued.

“True, people like that donator is beyond my imagination.” Smiled Josh. Even though it was him that donated the money, neither of the girls would believe it.

“Sure he is! Julia’s family runs a big company, do you think you deserve to be her girlfriend, boy?” Said Mei.

“My apology, but the thing is that she doesn’t deserve to be my girlfriend” Said Josh indifferently. It was true, the grandson of the wealthiest person in the Southwest and a girl whose family owns a, to quote, big company, everyone knows what does that mean.

“How dare you! You just have no idea of the gap between you and her, don’t you?” Exclaimed Mei, as if it was the most humiliating thing she had ever heard.

Julia was annoyed as well, for the one she reckoned as a ghetto boy would be so audacious. Julia showed Josh an invitation card to Josh and said:”Do you know what this is, boy? The invitation of a party of Huading Group, it’s your privilege to just lay your eyes on it!”

“Huading Group’s party? That’s amazing!” Uttered Mei. The influence and wealth of Huading was well-known to everyone in the Qingyang City, and to be invited to Huading’s party would be reckoned as the highest honor.

Josh’s smiled turned subtle, he himself was the chairman of the Huading’s branch in Qingyang City, he couldn’t help but wonder how Julia would react once she see him there in the party.

“You’re going to the party this Saturday, right? Maybe we can see each other there.” Said Josh, still smiling?

“Come on, Josh, don’t you tell me you got an invitation as well.” Sneered Julia.

“I don’t think he did, but it’s possible since we might see him doing the after-cleaning there!” Laughed Mei.

“Alright, let’s just join the people in the pool!” Said Fatty, trying to ease out the vibe.

“Sorry, but he doesn’t deserve to dance with me!” Said Julia without even looking at Josh, then walked away.

“Well...” Fatty seemed embarrassed, since he was trying to help Josh out, but things went the wrong way around,”I’m sorry, buddy, didn’t know it would be like this.”

“It’s alright, Fatty.” Josh patted Fatty on his shoulder, he didn’t care about it at all since he knew it was Fatty’s fault, who intended nothing bad to Josh.

Fatty stayed with Josh at the table started drinking together. Soon Josh got a call from the 4s shop, he got into the restroom to stay away form the noise and picked up the phone. The manager told him that the car was ready to go and asked him where he want the car to be sent, Josh thought about it for a while and asked the manager to send the car to the bar he’s in at the moment, he’s eager to give his baby Lamborghini a maiden ride.

Around half an hour later, Julia and came back from the pool and said:”What a boring night, let’s go back.”

When they got out of the bar, they found a brand-new orange Lamborghini Aventador surrounded by quite many people parked outside.

“Damn this beauty!”

“Who’s car is this? It’s parked here so the owner could be still in the bar, well, we’ll see who’s gonna hook up with him tonight!”

People were gossiping and taking photos of it, some girls even chose to stay around it to wait for the owner, no wonder people call Lamborghini Aventador the king of night club, and there weren’t that many silver-spoons in the Qingyang City that could afford it.

“Wow, a Lamborghini!” Exclaimed Mei and Julia in the same time.

“Oh my, what if my boyfriend has a car like this!” Murmured Mei.

“Come on, this one costs around seven million, it’s beyond my budget however hard I work!” Said Fatty.

“Who could be the owner of it? I would dearly love to know him.” Said Julia, with a tinge of jealousy.
