Chapter 8

"Rain! Rain! Rain, let me explain!" Blake pleaded as I walked down the hallway and he followed me.

"No need to explain Blake" I said.

He grabbed my arm and whirled me around to him "I'm sorry, alright".

"Blake, you almost killed Ryker"! I yelled.

People stopped and stared confused.

He pulled me into a classroom and said "I didn't know you knew him"!

"Well I do" I said.

"Rain please, just give me another chance. I'm sorry I didn't tell you I was in a gang, but that's not something I just say on a first date" He tried.

"I-I" I looked down.

"Please" He said and tilted my chin up with his index finger "Give me another chance".

"I'll think about it" I said.

He nodded.

"I got to go Blake" I said and walked out.

My phone buzzed.

Craig: Where the hell are you?!

Me: Sorry, be there in 10.

I ran down the hall, thank God I'm aloud to wear Converses with my uniform.

I ran out and got in my truck then speeding away.

"I'm here! I'm here!" I yelled breathlessly as I ran into the warehouse room.

They all looked at me.

I clutched my stomach and tried to catch my breath "O God, I'm dead" I said to myself.

"How was school"? Neil asked throwing me a water bottle.

I unscrewed the cap and narrowed my eyes at him "It was hell, thanks for asking" then taking a sip of the water.

"Thats nice" Craig said "Now have you talked to Blake"?

I said "Uhh.....kind of" and sat down in one of the chairs.

They all raised eyebrows.

"He came up to me today and asked for all this second chance crap, and apologized" I rolled my eyes at the thought.

"You know he's trying to get in your pants" Reece said.

I nodded "I'm well aware".

"Speaking of which...." Ryker trailed off looking at me "You never answered my question. Are you a virgin"?

I looked over at him "Why do you care so much"?

"Just curious if you're a perfect little daddy's girl or not" He smirked taking a sip of his drink.

I rolled my eyes.

"You know, now I'm curios too" Vince said sitting down with everyone else doing the same.

"Guys leave her alone. If she is, so what" Leah said.

"No, no, no. I'm curious" Craig said.

"Okay, I'll give you a hint".

They all waited.

"Your hint is" I started then throwing my water bottle at Ryker's head "You're all perverts, especially you"I said looking at Ryker.

They all laughed and Ryker glared at me and rubbed his head "Ow" he said with no emotion.

I have apparently been brought into the gang now.

"Listen up, Thompson. We have a bar thing on Friday and it's permitted. So no missing it" Craig ordered.

I nodded slightly.

"You'll probably need a fake ID" Vince said studying me.

"Nah, she can pull off as a 21 year-old" Craig said "They won't question her".

"Alright then......." I trailed off.

"Fuck" Ryker yelled as walked in.

"What happened"? Peter asked.

"I got to go pick up Melanie, but my trucks in the shop" He said running a hand threw his hair.

I grabbed my keys out of my pocket and threw them to him.

He caught them and raised an eyebrow.

"I'm coming so you don't crash it" I said and stood up.

"I wouldn't crash" He said rolling his eyes.

I scoffed a laugh "Yeah keep telling yourself that" and I followed him out.

He got in the drivers side and I climbed in the passenger seat.

He smirked and sped off.

"You're going to burn my tires, and you're paying for them" I warned.

We came to Elementary school.

"Ok, most of the parents here hate me so just stay by me" He said.

"Why am I not surprised"? I said sarcastically.

We both got out and I followed him in.

He grabbed my wrist and pulled me threw the crowd's of people.

As I got stares for being in a uniform.

We came to a kindergarten classroom.

We walked in and I saw Melanie sitting at her desk alone with no one else here.

"Ryker" A lady in her late 20's who appeared to be pregnant came over "You're late, again".

"Sorry, I thought Patric-dad was going to pick her up" Ryker said correcting himself like he was going to say a name instead of dad.

I raised an eyebrow and he just turned to the teacher as Melanie packed her stuff up.

"Are you Ryker's girlfriend"? The teacher asked me.

My eyes widened and I almost choked.

"No" Ryker said rolling his eyes at my reaction.

"Oh my bad" She apologized.

"I'm Rain" I said and she shook my hand "Nice to meet you Rain" she smiled.

Melanie came up and her eyes lit up and she gasped "Rain!" and hugged me legs.

I chuckled and picked her up and hugged her "Hey Melanie".

"What the heck?! I'm your brother" Ryker said pretending to be hurt.

Melanie giggled "But Rain's pretty".

I laughed and Ryker stared at her dumbfounded.

I laughed hysterically.

"Nice going Thompson, you turned my own sister against me" Ryker said glaring at me.

"Thompson?" The teacher asked "As in the sheriffs daughter"?

I nodded.

She smiled "Well good, Ryker needs someone to set him straight".

Melanie rested her head on my shoulder and Ryker took her backpack.

"Alright let's go, nimrods" Ryker said signing Melanie out and we walked out.

"I am not a....nim-nim-ni-m-m-rod"! Melanie declared.

I laughed and we walked out.

"Ryker, where are we going"!? Melanie asked.

"To the warehouse" He answered taking her from me and setting her in the backseat.

"Talk to me baby! You be my only! Going crazy, crazy! Aye-aye aye! People hoping we cake by the ocean!" I sang obnoxiously just to piss Ryker off.

"O my God! Shut the f*ck up!" He yelled mad.

I laughed "What?"

He glared at me and we pulled up to the warehouse.

We got out and I got Melanie and set her on my hip and followed Ryker in and we walked upstairs to the main room.

"Melanie"! They all acknowledge and she giggled and I put her down.

"Thompson, just turned my own sister against me" Ryker said.

I smirked and sat down.

"What do you mean"? Reece asked.

"Rain's prettier" Melanie said.

Everyone bursted out laughing except for Ryker and he just glared at me "Shut up you virgin bitch"!

"I am not a fucking virgin" I said throwing a water bottle at him.

I then just realized what I said.

Everyone became silent and stared at me amused.

I bit my lip.

"So you're not......" Ryker trailed off.

I shook my head "I'm not, okay".

"Wow" Craig said shocked.

"Didn't take you as one of those girls" Neil said.

Melanie was in another room with Leah by the way.

"I'm not. I've only done it once, and it was with my ex-boyfriend" I said.

"Mikey"? Peter asked.

I closed my eyes shut and said "No. Someone else" then re-opening my eyes "And if I could take it back, I would in a heartbeat".

They all nodded.

"Well Ryker lost his f*cking virginity at 14, if that makes you feel any better" Vince said.

My eyes widened and I looked at Ryker "14"?!

He smirked "Yep. I don't even remember the girls name to be honest".

"That's so messed up" I said.

He shrugged "I'm messed up".

"Yeah, I realized" I said.

"Rain Eliza! Where have you been"!? My dad yelled at me.

"I was at the Library" I lied.

"For 6 hours"!? He yelled.

I bit my lip.

"That's it you're grounded, and you have a tutoring session tomorrow after school"! He said crossing his arms.

I groaned and handed him my phone because he always takes it away.

"Go clean up for dinner" He said "...........NOW!" He ordered.

I walked upstairs and into my room.

"Friday night we have a work dinner we were invited to. And all of you are coming" My dad said.

Great..........

"But I have plans-" I started.

"No Rain. Its from 5-6 so I expect all you kids to be there. Got it"?

My brothers nodded and I bit my lip.

I walked to Mrs. Doyle's classroom and everyone was there as the usual helping her clean.

"What did you need Mrs. Doyle"? I asked.

"I need you to help set up the posters out in the hall" She said.

"But I don't have detention today-" I said.

She narrowed her eyes at me.

"Fine" I muttered.

"Hey, Mrs. Doyle. I'm here" Blake's voice said as he walked in.

I blinked a few times and turned around to see him.

He smirked "Hey Rain".

"Oh f*ck no! If this thing is here, I'm not here".

"Rain"! Mrs. Doyle yelled.

Ryker came over and clenched his jaw, then grabbing my wrist and pulling me out of the classroom and into the hallway.

He let go of my wrist once we were in the hallway "Don't act out" he warned.

I furrowed my brows.

"I mean it Thompson, he knows you're in the gang now, and he'll get threw you. So do not answer any of his questions, and sure to hell do not give him another chance".

I blinked a few times and pressed my lips in a thin line.

"Got it"? He asked.

I nodded "Yeah, I got it".

"Good, now go" He said and we both walked back in.

"Everything alright Rain"? Mrs. Doyle asked.

I nodded slightly "Yeah, just fine".

"Good, now get started" She said and Blake and I walked out to the hallway.

"So you and Anderson"? He asked amused.

"No" I said taping up a poster.

"Then what was that all about"? He asked handing me another poster.

"Nothing" I said taping the poster up.

"Okay, Rain are you going to stop being a b*tch and being mad at me and give me another chance"!? He yelled.

I said "First of all, you do not call me a b*tch! And second, you almost killed someone"!

"You're a f*cking idiot, you know that"?! He yelled "No wonder your dad basically hates you, you're a stubborn b*tch"!

My breath hitched and I glared at him.

He then threw a punch right at my face.

I fell back and smacked my head against the locker.

"Get the f*ck away from her"! I heard a voice grit.

I looked to see everyone.

Ryker and Craig went up and pinned him against a locker and beat the crap out of him.

"Rain, sit down" Neil said and I sat down carefully on the floor and clutched my head.

"Let me see her" Peter said and walked up to me.

He held my chin with his index finger and thumb and studied my face.

Craig and Ryker sent Blake out then walking up.

"Ryker, come look at her. I can't tell if she sprained anything" Peter said.

Ryker squatted down in front of me and said "Follow my finger" then he moved his finger side to side as my eyes followed it.

"Well your eyes aren't off, but you'll have a black eye tomorrow" He said.

Great!

How am I going to explain this to my dad?

"Come on, I'll take you home".

"No ones home"? Liz asked.

I shook my head "Brothers are at class and my dads at work".

We all got out of the truck.

I stumbled a bit but Ryker grabbed my arm and steady me.

"God, I'm dizzy" I muttered.

"That's what getting punched in the face will do to you" He said.

We walked up to the front door and I said "Theirs a key under that rock".

Ryker got the key and unlocked the door.

We all walked in.

"Whoa" They said scanning over.

I sighed and walked into the kitchen and they followed.

I opened the freezer and grabbed an ice-pack and wrapped it in a paper towel.

"I can't believe you live here......." Liz whispered but I still heard her.

"Yeah, it's a blast" I said sarcastically.

They just stared.

"Do you want a tour or something"? I asked and they bother nodded.

"Which concludes this tour to my room" I said opening the door.

Liz gasped "You literally have my dream-room".

I chuckled and scanned over my room "This is my favorite place here. My mom and I designed it together when I was 8".

"Wow" Liz said walking over to my bed and the window wall.

"Rain! I'm home!" My dad's voice yelled from downstairs.

My eyes widened and I said "Uh-uh-uh".

Liz asked "What's this"?

"My closet" I answered.

"Well will be in here" She said then dragging Ryker in.

I hid the ice-pack under my pillow and cleaned up my face getting rid of any blood from my nose bleeding and grabbing a black hoodie and pulling it on and throwing the hood up blocking the sides of my face.

My door opened "Rain"?

"Uh, hi dad" I smiled.

"It's 70 degrees inside why are wearing a sweatshirt"? He asked raising an eyebrow.

"Uh......I walked into the freezer room" I said.

He nodded "Alright......."

"Well I got to get to homework" I said practically pushing him out.

"Okay. I'll go make dinner" He said and walked out.

I shut my door and let out a sigh of relief and pushed the hood down and opened my closet door.

"So........" Liz smirked "Heels"? She asked holding up a pair.

"What? No those are my friend Alex's" I said.

She frowned "For a minute I thought you had a little bit of girly in you".

I shook my head "No".

"Well how are we going to leave if your dad's here"? Ryker asked.

"Follow me" I said then running out in the hallway and running down the back hallway and pulling them out back.

"Holy F*ck" Ryker said as we came outside.

"Th-that's a pool"!? Liz asked equally as shocked.

I said "Yes, now come on".

They followed me around the house and we came to the driveway.

"Alright, we will see you tomorrow" Liz said.

"Um...about that, my dad's forcing me to go to this dinner thing......" I trailed off.

"Doesn't matter, it's mandatory" Ryker said.

"But-" I started.

Liz shook her head "No 'buts' Rain, its your first one you can't miss it".

I sighed "Fine. I'll figure something out".

"Ok. Bye, see you tomorrow" Liz hugged me as Ryker walked away.

"Sooooooo" Joel trailed off as he entered my room.

I looked up from my laptop and Joel was there.

I raised an eyebrow and asked "Yessss"? Mimcking him.

"Alex is coming over.." He said.

I shifted my laptop out of my lap and put it beside me on my bed.

"And I was wondering if you're.....cool..with everything"? He asked scratching the back of his neck.

I smirked in response.

"What"? He asked.

I stood up and pushed him out of my room and said "Every things fine" then shutting my door and the smirk not leaving my face.

I quickly grabbed my converses and skateboard then walking to the top of the steps and yelling "Hey dad! I'm gonna head to bed! Night"!

Then walking back into my room and locking my door and walking to my window and climbing out.

I grabbed a tree and swung my legs over and climbed down.

I looked back at the house, then running down the driveway and skating once I hit the street.

I skated down threw people leaning slightly on my board to not run into anyone.

It was dark but the street lights, taxi's, buildings and skyscrapers lit up the city.

I skated to the end of the street.

I opened the door and the bell rang as I walked in.

"Hey Rain" Mrs. Dawson smiled.

"Hey Mrs. Dawson" I said walking up to the front desk and getting behind it.

"I need you to help the kids with their homework" She advised.

I nodded "Okay" and put my stuff down.

I work at a local foster care center for kids; but if my dad found out he would make me quit because it's not high-class, but I just like helping out with the kids.

"Thank you Rain, here's the keys to the kitchen" She said handing them to me.

I nodded and took them and walked to the back hallway and walked down the long hallway.

"Hey guys" I said walking into the one room.

Their eyes all lit up and they ran up and hugged me "Rain"!

I laughed "Hey guys".

"It's been so long"! Jana said.

It's Dax (16), Jana (14), Lindsey (13), Cameron (15), Kendall (4), Chloe (3).

Those are the kids I work with.

"I'm sorry" I chuckled "I've been busy with school".

"Raiinnnnnnnn"! Chloe cheered grinning ear-to-ear at me.

"Yes Chlo"? I asked.

"Can you play a game with me"!? She asked.

"First homework" I said and they all groaned.

"But" Dax started.

"Nope, no 'buts'." I said picking up Chloe and setting her on my hip as she nuzzled her head into my neck.

"Homework now" I stated and they all went to get their homework.

I put Chloe down and turned around to go get something then bumped into someone.

"Oh sorry, I wasn't watching-" I apologized then looking up.

My eyes widened.

"Anderson"?!

"Thompson? What the hell are you doing here"?! Ryker snapped.

"I work here" I snapped back.

He groaned "Of course you do".

"Why are you here"? I asked.

"None of your business" He gritted.

I put my hands in surrender "Jeez, forget I even asked".

"Rain, I need your help" Cameron said.

I sighed and turned around.

"Ooooo Thompson's not the best person to ask about homework, she's in detention everyday" Ryker said rolling his eyes.

"You two know each other"? Lindsey asked.

"Sadly" I muttered.

"Wait. How"?! Jana asked.

"She's is in the gang" Ryker shrugged glaring at me.

"Rain? Rain Thompson? Gang? Rain in a gang?!" Cameron said.

"Yes, now homework" I said pointing to his textbook.

He sighed "Fine".

"AH AHA" I heard a gasp "Rain"! Melanie ran up and hugged my legs.

I chuckled and squatted down to her height and said "Hey Melanie".

"Do you live here"? She asked.

I shook my head "No".

"Alright Melanie, that's enough" Ryker said picking her up, and I stood up.
