Seeing this scene, Baldwin Qi couldn't help but frown.
"Baldwin Qi, where have you been, you useless man? April was in such danger, and you just hid like a coward?" Marisol Pang said with visible anger upon seeing Baldwin Qi.
Baldwin Qi remained silent and just gave a brief glance to Egbert Zhang, asking, "What happened? Why is Zhang here?"
Marisol Pang angrily responded, "You have the audacity to ask?"
"April went to the Black Dragon Chamber of Commerce yesterday to get the money Otto Yu owed her. He made her drink an entire bottle of liquor!"
"If it weren't for Zhang appearing on time and saving April, who knows what could've happened to her?"
Clyde Qiao, who was standing by, also looked a bit upset, his gaze on Baldwin Qi slightly displeased.
Clyde Qiao said in a deep voice, "Baldwin, since I entrusted April to your care, you have to take on this responsibility."
Egbert Zhang quickly added with a smile, "Uncle, Aunt, there's no need to be too polite. April and I are good friends, and this is what I should do!"
"Moreover, it's no use blaming Baldwin. After all, he's just a prison guard. Even if he did intervene, I doubt he would've been of much help."
"Such a small favour shouldn't be brought up repeatedly. I'm feeling a bit embarrassed."
Upon hearing Egbert Zhang's words, Baldwin Qi couldn't help but laugh. He shook his head and said, "I was the one who saved April from Otto Yu. Since when did it become your merit?"
Everyone present was taken aback by this statement.
Egbert Zhang chuckled and said, "Baldwin, you've only just arrived at the Qiao family. You need some merits to establish your footing. I understand."
"Well... this matter has nothing to do with me. In fact, it's Baldwin's merit. I didn't know anything about it. I just happened to visit April today!"
Egbert Zhang's strategy of retreating to advance directly escalated Marisol Pang's displeasure with Baldwin Qi to its peak.
"Baldwin Qi, you may not be very capable, but if Lance insists on marrying April off to you, I have nothing more to say."

Marisol Pang thoroughly belittled Baldwin Qi, not leaving him any dignity.
A triumphant smile appeared on Egbert Zhang's face, and just then, April Qiao woke up, her head still aching.
She was relieved to find herself at home. Vaguely recalling the events of the previous night, she looked at Egbert Zhang in confusion, asking, "Zhang, was it you who saved me last night?"
Egbert Zhang replied with a resigned smile, "April, it wasn't me, it was Baldwin Qi who saved you."
Marisol Pang then exclaimed, "Zhang, you are noble and willing to help this good-for-nothing. But I can't stand it!"
"April, it was Zhang who saved you last night. Otherwise, who knows what might have happened?"
"The good man your father found for you turned off his phone for the whole night. He's truly carefree."
April Qiao seemed to vaguely remember a man saving her. After hearing her mother's words, she looked at Egbert Zhang with gratitude.
"I think I remember a bit. Thank you, Zhang. If it wasn't for you, things could've been really bad for me." April Qiao expressed her gratitude to Egbert Zhang with relief.
Marisol Pang, upon hearing this, was even more excited. She said to Baldwin Qi, "What do you have to say now?"
Baldwin Qi looked indifferent, shrugged, and said, "Yesterday, I had Polly Li send April Qiao back. If you don't believe me, ask her."
Egbert Zhang nodded at Baldwin Qi and said, "I'll call Polly Li later and remind her to publicly claim that you saved April Qiao."
With a disdainful glance, Baldwin Qi thought of Egbert Zhang as nothing but a "clown".
April Qiao looked at Baldwin Qi with disdain. Not only did this guy have no real skills, but he was also thick-skinned. It was clear that Egbert Zhang had saved her from Otto Yu, yet he claimed to be her saviour. What a shameless person!
She hoped her father would soon see Baldwin Qi's true colors, and if she proposed a divorce afterward, it should be much easier.
Clyde Qiao patted Baldwin Qi on the shoulder and advised earnestly, "Baldwin, one can be poor, but one cannot lack ambition."
Baldwin Qi replied, "Uncle Qiao, you're right."
He laughed, showing no interest in arguing further.
"April, you don't have to worry about that 20 million. I said I would handle it for you," Egbert Zhang smiled at April Qiao.
"Thank you," April Qiao sighed with relief but her expression suddenly changed, "I just remembered something. Last night, I think I broke Otto Yu's head with a wine bottle!"
Upon hearing this, Clyde Qiao frowned deeply, and Marisol Pang gasped.
Egbert Zhang's smile turned awkward, and he reassured in a hoarse voice, "It's okay, it's okay. I'll talk to Mr. Zhao about it. There won't be any problems."
Marisol Pang said, "Thank you, young master Zhang!"
At that moment, a Mercedes parked outside.
Polly Li stepped out of the car and entered the Qiao residence with some fruits in hand, saying, "April, I came to visit you!"
"Ah, Polly is here! Come in and have a sit!" Seeing Polly Li, Marisol Pang greeted her with a smile.
The Li family were of some status in Zhonghai City and had a partnership with the Qiao family. Polly Li and April Qiao were close friends, making Polly a welcome guest in the Qiao home.
April Qiao wasn't entirely sure that the person who saved her yesterday was Egbert Zhang. After all, she was heavily intoxicated and hadn't seen the rescuer's face clearly.
She pulled Polly Li to sit beside her and said, "Polly, you were with me yesterday. You didn't drink much, so you should remember everything."
Polly Li paused, then nodded, "Yes."
April Qiao asked Polly Li seriously, "Tell me the truth. Who really saved me last night?"
Clyde Qiao also looked intently at Polly Li. Since April Qiao was brought back by Polly Li, who witnessed the entire event, she had the most authority to speak on the matter.
Baldwin Qi shrugged, not caring about what Egbert Zhang did. However, if Polly Li spoke the truth and exposed Egbert Zhang, he would be happy to watch.
"Do you really not remember anything?" Polly Li smiled at April Qiao and asked.
"I drank a bottle of foreign liquor and blacked out," April Qiao replied with a wry smile.
