chapter 1 Christian West, let’s get a divorce

Pokyo City, Fantasy Hotel, in a Themed Suite.
There were Crimson lighting, a bathtub filled with petals, and several sets of lace lingerie.
Christian West had meticulously prepared everything, quietly waiting for his wife, Timila Olson, to arrive.
Today marked their third wedding anniversary, and it was the first time in three years they were to share a bed.
She had always refused him in the past, citing the noise being too loud and fearing her family would hear.
But this afternoon, she had her assistant, Brocha Marsh, call him to arrange a hotel room for them, clearly indicating her intention to consummate their marriage.
"Ring, ring."
Suddenly, the phone rang.
Christian picked it up and saw an unfamiliar number. Hesitating briefly, he still answered, "Who is this?"
"Good day, Divine Doctor West."
Upon hearing Christian's voice, the caller immediately responded with an excited and authoritative tone, "This is Caesar Temple, the Chairman of the Pokyo Commerce Association. You cured my cancer six months ago..."
"Get to the point."
Christian was not interested in small talk.
He had an appointment with his wife at eight, and it was already seven fifty.
Seeing Christian's impatience, Caesar didn't dare to delay and quickly said, "I'm calling to inform you that the Keller Group, led by the premier family of Pokyo, is organizing an investment fund. I've secured an election spot for your wife."
The Keller Family.
Worth billions and closely associated with both military and political circles.
This time, they were putting forward seventy million dollars in investment as a means to consolidate influence and prepare for their rise to a financial dynasty.
The Olson Family, however, was merely a third-tier family with barely a billion in net worth.
Securing this election spot meant at least seventy million dollars in investment.
With this money, the Olson Family would greatly benefit in their advancement to a second-tier family!
"Thanks."
Christian responded and asked, "Any requirements from the Keller Family?"
"Well, the family head of the Keller Family, Tut Keller, has taken ill recently. Despite consulting numerous domestic and foreign experts, there's been no improvement."
"I know of your extraordinary medical skills, hence I wish to request your assistance. Would that be a problem?"
Hearing this, Christian remained calm.
The request was within his expectations.
Three years ago.
He married Timila and established a rule.
He would only offer medical assistance in exchange for benefits to the Olson Family.
Over the past three years, he had done so over a hundred times, bringing countless resources to the family!
This was the fundamental reason the Olson Family had risen from a small household to its current status.
"I'll find time to pay a visit."
"Let's leave it at that."
After hanging up, a knock on the door sounded a few minutes later.
Christian's heart leaped with excitement as he ran to open the door, only to find it wasn't his wife but Brocha.
Behind her stood several scantily clad, heavily made-up women.
"Quite the flashy setup."
After a glance around the room, Brocha sneered, pulled out some documents, and tossed them at Christian's face, "Sign this, so I can report back!"
Christian picked up the documents, and upon seeing the title, he was stunned, "Divorce Agreement?"
"Brocha, what do you mean?"
"President Olson wants a divorce from you!"
Brocha crossed her arms and declared loudly.
"This afternoon, the Olson Group was invited to participate in the investment fund organized by the Keller Family."
"Securing this investment would elevate the Olson Family to a second-tier family, and President Olson would emerge as a new star in Pokyo's business, with a limitless future!"
"And you, just a good-for-nothing who cooks and cleans, what right do you have to be her partner, let alone bear the title of husband?"
"If you're sensible, sign it quickly and don't be a hindrance!"
Shocked, Christian didn't react rashly but took a deep breath and asked in a steady voice, "Did Timila say these exact words?"
"Her actual words were harsher. Do you want to hear them?"
Brocha scoffed disdainfully, "Christian, be realistic. You and President Olson are from two different worlds!"
"She's a highly queen, and you're just a lowly toad. You've been her husband for three years, and that's already more than what you could ever have dreamed of!"
"Don't be ungrateful, or you'll regret it!"
Unmoved, Christian replied coolly, "Threats won't work on me."
"Unless Timila tells me herself, I won't agree to a divorce..."
"You’re really shameless!"
Brocha spat in disgust, barely containing her anger, and pulled out a bunch of items from her briefcase, "Trash, don't think I don't know what you're really after."
"Isn't it just money?"
"Look, this property deed, car keys, and a bank card with ten million in balance!"
"They’re all yours if you sign the paper."
After saying this, she threw the items on the ground.
The crisp sound, like Christian's heart, shattered.
"These women..."
Seeing Christian remain silent, Brocha thought he was tempted, and with contempt in her heart, continued.
"They are women specially arranged by President Olson for you."
"Always thinking doing those acts with President Olson, aren't you?
Out of consideration, she's paid them to serve you. Hopefully, they don't drain you dry!"
"She has done more than enough. I hope you'll be sensible and not make me despise you!"
As she finished speaking, several girls ran over, clinging to him like octopuses, continuously calling him 'boss' and 'baby'.
"Get lost!"
Christian pushed the women away and glared at Brocha, "Where is Timila, I want to talk to her face to face!"
He was really angry!
Not only did she divorce him, but she also brought these women to humiliate him.
Thinking of the so-called marital affection she mentioned, he found it to be the world's most ridiculous joke.
If she really cared about marital affection, she wouldn't have someone else handle the divorce.
"Don't be ungrateful, Christian."
Seeing Christian refusing to sign, Brocha was about to burst out in anger, when a woman in a black long dress, with a graceful figure, walked in from outside.
This woman, with stunning facial features and skin as smooth as cream, every move she made was full of charm.
Adding to her unique cool demeanour, she seemed like a fairy in a painting, truly captivating.
"Why hide behind?"
Looking at the extraordinary woman in front of him, Christian's heart was filled with mixed emotions.
During their three years of marriage, she took charge of external affairs, and he of internal, which was quite satisfying.
He thought once the Olson Group developed, she would focus more on family and spend a lifetime with him.
But now, she wants a divorce?
"I wasn't hiding, just wanted to give you a last bit of dignity."
Timila said calmly.
Her indifferent gaze was even colder than that of a stranger.
"Dignity..."
"President Olson speaks so lightly. Three years of marriage, do you think it can be easily erased by mere words?"
Christian said with self-mockery and desolation.
Timila's expression flickered, then she became resolute again, "Let's not talk about that, let's discuss the matter at hand."
"Christian, you can resent me, or feel wronged by me, let's get divorced."
"I'll give you the house and car, and there's 1.4 million dollars in this card, which should suffice for your future life."
"Let's part amicably, there's no need to act like enemies."
Saying this, she picked up something from the ground and handed it to Christian.
But Christian didn't accept it, just looked at her lost in thought, "Timila, do you think marriage can be measured with money?"
"Is this not enough?"
Timila searched her bag and took out a blank cheque, "Fill in this cheque as you wish."
"As long as you agree to sign..."
"Ha!"
Christian tore up the cheque, stating earnestly, "Did you really not understand, or are you pretending to be dumb?"
"We've been married for three years, even a dog have feelings, in your eyes, is money really more important than love?"
"Sorry, I have no feelings for you."
Timila said decisively, "And yes, money is very important to me."
"But you are already the president of the Olson Group, worth several hundred million, isn't that enough for you?"
"Heh."
Timila gave a bitter smile, disappointingly, "See, you're still fixated on money, it seems you really don't understand what I want."
For her, compatibility of values was very important.
But aside from doing laundry and cooking, he was of no help to her career or future plans.
She needed a husband she could rely on, not a free housekeeper!
"Yes, I really don't know what you want."
Christian couldn't help but self-mock, "I only know, when you're tired, you want me to massage you."
"When you're thirsty, you want me to make you juice."
"When you're hungry..."
"Enough, stop speaking."
Timila interrupted.
The past warmth indeed moved her, but she needed more than that, she sighed, "Talking about this is meaningless now…"
"Then let's talk about Young Master Abbott."
Christian took a deep breath and asked, "I heard you and Ludolf Abbott have been quite close recently."
"Is he the reason you insist on having a divorce with me?"
Timila's face was filled with complexity.
He was either fixated on money or on others, still not understanding where the problem lied.
It seemed, divorcing him was a wise decision.
"So what if it's because of him, stop wasting words, will you sign this or not…"
"I will sign."
If there is no longer the existence of love, what's the point in being together?
Christian felt utterly despair, he picked up the pen, quickly signed, and then threw the papers back.
"Timila, from now on, we have nothing to do with each other!"
Then, he turned and left, not looking back.
Watching his departing figure, Timila muttered to herself, "Did I really make a mistake divorcing you?"
She thought she would feel relieved after the divorce, but at that moment, a sense of guilt inexplicably surged in her heart.
"President Olson, you don't need to worry about that useless brat."
Seeing Timila's thoughts, Brocha comforted her, "Actually, from another perspective, divorcing you is also a form of protection for him."
"After all, in the future, you are destined to be a shining star, and as your husband, he would only become a despised burden."
"Let's go, Young Master Abbott is still waiting for us to discuss the election details."
Timila remained silent.
