Dylan Rei took the chicken leg and stared at it for a while, then suddenly burst into tears.
Lila Qin was startled and said, "Dylan Rei, even if the chicken leg is delicious, you shouldn't cry over it!"
The driver, Ken Gao, silenced, "..."
Dylan Rei, a tall young man, held the chicken leg in his hand and cried for a long time.
Lila Qin hurriedly tried to comfort him, feeling anxious and sweaty.
"Why do you adults always make children so worried?"
"Don't cry, Master Lila promised to help you find your mother. If you keep crying, Master Lila will get angry!"
Dylan Rei hiccuped.
"I'm sorry, it's just that I had a dream last night, and I saw my mother..."
Ken Gao understood and reassured him, "Don't worry, dreams are the opposite of reality. Your mother must be fine."
Dylan Rei wiped his tears.
He stuffed the chicken leg into his mouth, devoured it in a few bites, and then looked expectantly at Lila Qin, who was leaning on the back of her chair.
"Master, can you tell me, where is my mother now? Is she really alive?"
Is he doubting her?
The little girl pouted, her eyebrows and big eyes furrowed, and she said angrily, "Are you questioning me? I said your mother is not dead, she's really not dead!"
"I'm sorry, it's just that when I got home yesterday, I overheard that woman talking to some masters..."
Dylan Rei explained that when he returned home last night, he found that there were several masters in the house. The woman who had taken his mother's place looked extremely disheveled and was crying in front of the masters.
"She said that she had been tormented by a female ghost recently and couldn't sleep well, so she asked those masters to help her exorcise the ghost. I just thought, the female ghost she mentioned..."
Dylan Rei couldn't continue. His eyes were red, and he looked at Lila Qin with an expectant gaze, like a big dog waiting to be comforted.
"Master, is my mother really okay?"
"Hei!"
Master Lila was angry now, and her chubby little hand poked directly at Dylan Rei's nose.
"You're so annoying! I already said there's nothing wrong, and you're still so worried. It's not good for you to be like this!"
She noticed that Dylan Rei's nose had turned red from being poked, but he didn't retaliate.
The little kid reluctantly withdrew her hand, hugged it to her chest, pouted, and scolded, "If you're worried, you should have asked Lila earlier. It's awkward for you adults to hide and be sad without sharing your thoughts!"
Dylan Rei smiled bitterly, "Because in that family, no one would really listen to my thoughts. That's how I grew up."
Ken Gao, who had been in the Qin family for many years, added, "Actually, the eldest young master grew up the same way."
"He's the eldest and more mature, so everyone used to pay more attention to the second young master. Later, when the third young master was born, and especially when the little miss was born, madam fell ill. By the time everyone realized it, the eldest young master had already become very mature and reserved, and he didn't like to communicate with us."
Lila Qin's grape-like big eyes blinked.
Pouting, she grabbed a panda-shaped mini backpack and took out a phone much bigger than her hand.
"What are you doing, little miss?" the driver asked.
"Lila wants to call Big Brother," Lila Qin replied.
At Qin Group, in the meeting room.
Peter Qin was in the middle of a meeting with other executives as his phone rang.
He was tall, with a serious expression, and his mere presence commanded respect from those below.
No one dared to underestimate the young man who had become the CEO at just 20 years old.
When his phone screen lit up, Peter Qin instinctively glanced at it, and his eyebrows immediately furrowed.
A few executives who were further away exchanged sympathetic glances.
Who dared to call Mr. Qin at a time like this? It was like asking for trouble.
However, those closer to Peter Qin unintentionally caught a glimpse of the screen's caller ID and widened their eyes.
"Sorry," Peter Qin stood up, picked up his phone, and quickly left the meeting room. "Take a call. Continue without me."
As soon as he left, the once quiet meeting room became noisy.
"Who is it?"
"Who dares to call Mr. Qin during a meeting?"
"But Mr. Qin hates it when people call him during meetings. How did he break his own rule?"
One executive sitting closer to the CEO muttered absentmindedly, "I must be seeing things."
"Yeah, maybe my eyesight is getting worse. I should get new glasses."
In the hallway, Peter Qin answered the call, and his voice carried the same icy chill as his expression.
"What's going on?"
Early in the morning, before leaving, he had instructed the butler to tell Lila Qin that if she faced any danger, she could call him, but if everything was fine, she shouldn't disturb him.
"Big Brother~"
Lila Qin's voice had a hint of a teary tone.
The hand that had been hanging down clenched immediately.
Peter Qin's expression grew even colder. "Who's bothering you? Where's Ken Gao? Hand the phone to him."
"Big Brother, in the future, if you have something on your mind, you can tell Lila. Lila will listen attentively. If you're feeling sad, you can tell Lila too. If you get sick, Lila can take care of you. Don't keep everything to yourself, okay?"
Peter Qin asked, "You called to say..."
"Lila is quite busy, so I'll hang up now. Big Brother, remember what Lila said, okay? Kisses~"
The call was abruptly ended, leaving Peter Qin gripping his phone tightly.
There was a moment when he felt anger bubbling up inside him.
But now, Peter Qin let out a sigh and muttered, "Such an ignorant little brat!"
Coincidentally, his secretary, who had been about to usher him into the meeting room, saw Peter Qin's expression and froze, deciding not to say a word.
Inside the car, Lila Qin hung up the phone, satisfied. She then climbed up and raised her chubby little hand, patting Dylan Rei's head.
"Dylan, don't worry. As long as you find your mom, you'll be happy in the future," Lila Qin assured him.
She pointed to her own sparkling, translucent eyes. "Master Lila is really good at reading fortunes. Your face actually looks quite promising. Just focus on finding your mom."
Dylan Rei sniffled. "Master, you're really kind. I shouldn't have scared you earlier."
"Hmph," Lila Qin huffed, folding her arms across her chest. "It's too late to say that now. You must compensate Lila!"
"What does Master Lila want for compensation?"
Her big eyes spun for a while. "Lila hasn't decided yet. When Lila figures it out, I'll tell you. And you can't go back on your word."
Dylan Rei was practically swearing at this point. "I promise I won't!"
The three of them arrived at the old Yang family mansion.
After Dylan Rei's father married into the family, he and Dylan Rei's mother, Yann Yang, lived here.
Later, after Yann Yang's father passed away, Dylan Lei's father persuaded Yann Yang to hand over the company's management to him. After experiencing several nightmares, he convinced Yann Yang to buy another house and move out together.
The mansion's servants were dismissed, and the place gradually fell into decline.
Dylan Lei's father had considered selling it at one point, but anyone who tried to buy the property had some minor accidents, scaring them off.
The mansion became even more desolate.
