"She is studying in Class 4 of Grade 3 at Lucheng No. 3 Middle School. I have arranged a transfer student identity for you, and the student ID has been processed. It will be delivered to your villa tonight!"
Jonathan Ye nodded and said, "I understand. There's no rush with the land matter. The important thing is to be careful. The information must be accurate!"
Zachary Wu agreed repeatedly, and then Jonathan Ye hung up the phone.
"Whoosh!"
Just as he turned around, a gust of wind hit his face. It was an iron ball that landed next to his foot, cracking the hard stone slab.
"Child, are you hurt?"
A middle-aged man hurried over and apologized to Jonathan Ye.
He had a square face and bright eyes, looking imposing and dignified in every move.
A delicate and pretty girl around seventeen or eighteen years old followed him. She had a beautiful appearance and was dressed in a black martial arts uniform, holding an iron ball in her slender hand.
Seeing that Jonathan Ye did not respond, and that the iron ball had only hit the ground, she frowned and said, "Dad, he wasn't hurt, why apologize to him?"
Her voice was slightly spoiled, clearly indicating she was usually pampered.
"Layla, be quiet. It's your fault that the iron ball slipped from your hand. Although no one was hurt, you startled someone, so apologize quickly!"
The middle-aged man spoke sternly.
Layla, the girl, reluctantly said sorry to Jonathan Ye, but her voice lacked sincerity.
Jonathan Ye glanced at the middle-aged man and then at Layla, saying indifferently, "If you're going to practice with an iron ball, be more careful next time and choose a place with no people!"
Hearing this, Layla became angry and retorted without regard for the middle-aged man's presence, "I already nearly apologized to you, don't be presumptuous! What I choose to do and where I do it is none of your business. I like practicing here, so what?"
She had always been spoiled and had never been reprimanded by anyone outside her family.
However, she also found it strange how Jonathan Ye knew she was practicing with an iron ball.
Jonathan Ye chuckled, shook his head, and left without arguing further.
"What kind of person is this, acting all high and mighty just because I grudgingly apologized to him!" Layla complained as she watched Jonathan Ye walk away. If it weren't for her father's presence, she would have taught Jonathan Ye a lesson long ago.
"Layla, how many times have I told you? You need to change your temperament!" the middle-aged man said seriously. "Don't think that just because you practice Internal Martial Arts Boxing and have Internal Energy, and with the backing of the Han Family, you can act recklessly and look down on others!"
"There are many hidden dragons and crouching tigers in this world. With your temperament, you will eventually suffer a loss!"
Layla didn't take her father's words to heart, feeling unconcerned.
"Hidden dragons and crouching tigers? Dad, does that guy look like any sort of formidable person? I think he's just a weakling. What's there to worry about?"
The middle-aged man didn't argue this time. Indeed, Jonathan Ye's floating steps and casual movements didn't seem like those of a martial artist and weren't worth his attention.
Jonathan Ye spent the night wandering around the bustling city area, experiencing the feeling of returning to the city after a long time.
He had spent years either in deep mountains and forests or in extreme and dangerous places. Returning to the city now gave him a sense of novelty.
He wandered until past eleven at night. The streets were nearly empty when he passed by a remote street with a late-night food stall at the end, the aroma wafting over.
Jonathan Ye sat down at the stall, ordered a bowl of spicy beef noodles, and savored them slowly.
Not long after he sat down, the same father and daughter he had encountered earlier arrived. The middle-aged man nodded and smiled at Jonathan Ye, sitting at a nearby table, while Layla rolled her eyes, ignoring Jonathan Ye.
"I run into this guy everywhere, such bad luck!"
Jonathan Ye continued eating his noodles, indifferent to the arrival of the father and daughter.
Having practiced all night, Layla was very hungry. When the late-night snack arrived, she devoured it hungrily. The middle-aged man sat beside her, smiling from time to time.
Next to the food stall was a construction site. Although it was late at night, some people were still busy working.
As Layla was about to finish eating, the middle-aged man stood up to buy some nutritional drinks at a store at the other end of the street. He had barely walked a hundred steps when a loud "clang" sounded.
The middle-aged man looked up in shock to see that a cable on the construction site's crane had snapped. Several tons of steel were falling straight down, right toward where Layla was sitting.
"Layla!"
The middle-aged man shouted in horror, his eyes widening.
Though he was strong, he was a hundred meters away from Layla, and the steel was falling at the speed of a galloping horse. He couldn't reach her in time.
Realizing the danger, Layla tried to move away, but she had squatted for six hours that day and practiced with the iron ball, draining her strength. Her reflexes couldn't keep up, and she could only watch the steel fall towards her.
"No!"
As the steel got closer, she screamed out, her heart filled with despair, and closed her eyes.
"Sigh."
Just then, a soft sigh came from nearby, and at the same moment, Layla felt a breeze beside her.
After a long while, not feeling the heavy weight she expected, Layla cautiously opened her eyes and was stunned.
Beside her, a tall figure stood proudly, his palm slightly raised, astonishingly holding up the several-ton steel in mid-air.
A hundred meters away, the middle-aged man looked shocked, his voice trembling.
"Effortless and graceful, lifting thousands of pounds as if they were feathers, is this young man a Supreme Martial Arts expert?"
Jonathan Ye casually held the steel with one hand as if it were a feather.
Layla, recovering from her shock, couldn't believe her eyes. The seemingly weak Jonathan Ye was holding up several tons of steel and had saved her?
The middle-aged man was deeply shaken, fully aware of what Jonathan Ye's action represented.
Jonathan Ye flicked his arm, sending the steel up a bit, then gently pushed it so that it landed smoothly on the ground without even a dent.
"Thank you so much!"
Even though Layla was usually spoiled, she knew she had met a real master and quickly expressed her gratitude.
Jonathan Ye glanced at her and returned to his seat without a word.
Given Layla's spoiled nature, he initially didn't want to help, but he saw someone's shadow in her, which made him act.
Jonathan Ye's indifferent attitude greatly dissatisfied Layla. She frowned, about to say something, when the middle-aged man hurried over and solemnly bowed to Jonathan Ye.
"So, it turns out to be a Supreme Martial Arts expert here. I am Oliver Han of the Han Family, and I'm grateful for your lifesaving grace towards my daughter Layla Han!"
Oliver Han's bow stunned Layla.
This was her father, a key figure in the Han Family, and she had never seen him show such respect to anyone other than the family elder. Even top executives of large corporations were subservient in front of Oliver Han, never imagining he would bow to someone else.
Jonathan Ye, a young man under twenty, might have some skills and saved her life, but a simple thank you and some compensation should suffice. Why such reverence from Oliver Han?
