chapter 2 repay a favor

"Ten years later, I'm back in Ham City," Delfina murmured as he strolled on the outskirts of Ham City, where the waves crashed and everything seemed to pay homage.
Though he appeared ragged and worn, his steps were steady, his posture erect, and his demeanor noble.
Gazing at the faintly visible skyscrapers in the distance, Delfina's eyes darkened. "Lyra, you better be alive! Stay alive! I'm coming to take your life!"
Poppy's voice and smile seemed like yesterday's. Such a gentle woman, yet she died at the hands of the man she loved on Reunion Night, leaving behind no trace except for ashes.
A fire broke out on Reunion Night in a small district of Ham City, claiming the lives of a family of three.
—Afterwards, there was only this one news story.
"Hmph, the Aiken Family truly lives up to its reputation as a prestigious family. One life lost, and they sweep it under the rug with a mere news story."
Delfina's eyes held a hint of sarcasm. "Prestigious family, wielding power and influence. To overthrow the Aiken Family, I've been preparing for a full ten years."
Ten years ago, Delfina was ten years old, losing everything and wandering!
He begged for food, and fought for scraps!
Curled up in a garbage heap on a snowy night!
While the world was full of happiness and warmth, he had nothing.
The scariest thing wasn't having nothing, it was having had everything, and then losing it.
Delfina had experienced happiness and joy, only to see it all vanish overnight.
It was all because of Lyra, because of the Aiken Family!
Over the past ten years, Delfina had faced bloodshed, teetered on the edge of life and death countless times, and been forged in the fires of adversity!
Now, he was formidable!
Arriving on the waves, revered by all, he returned with boundless abilities and deep-seated resentment!
"Lyra, Aiken Family, just you wait. I, Delfina, will become your worst nightmare."
The hatred in his eyes was palpable, a surge of killing intent soaring to the sky, causing the surrounding trees to tremble and almost collapse.
At that moment, there was a roar of engines.
Delfina snapped back to reality, restraining his murderous intent.
Not far away, a fiery red Porsche raced towards him at incredible speed.
Through the window, it could be seen that the driver was a young girl, about seventeen or eighteen, with exquisite features. But at this moment, her beautiful face was twisted in panic.
Indeed, there was trouble.
The Porsche roared angrily, hurtling towards Delfina at breakneck speed.
The girl's slender legs stepped hard on the brakes, but they couldn't stop the car no matter what.
"Oh no, oh no, oh no!"
"We're going to die!"
"Get out of the way, move!"
"Ah..."
Terrified screams echoed from the car, until finally, the girl covered her face.
"Hmm?"
Delfina stood still, not moving, although, with his strength, it would not have been a problem to evade. But he realized that behind him was a cliff. If he moved, the Porsche, along with its owner, would plunge into the abyss, shattering into pieces.
In the blink of an eye, the Porsche had rushed up to him.
A Porsche weighing 1.6 tons, hurtling at high speed, the tremendous impact it brought was enough to shatter a person into pieces.
Yet Delfina remained unfazed, pressing down with both hands directly towards the front of the car.
Boom!
A loud noise erupted.
The Porsche was stopped!
Its fiery red rear end lifted high before crashing down heavily, stirring up countless dust clouds.
Delfina remained motionless, standing where he was, calmly retracting his hands.
After about ten seconds, the door of the Porsche creaked open, and a pair of slender, snowy-white feet stepped out, teetering on high heels as they descended from the car.
It was a young girl, her features clean, her hair cascading vertically like a large piece of satin, black and shiny, draped over her shoulders. However, her stunning face was still filled with lingering fear.
Her snow-white legs trembled slightly, unsettling to the eyes.
"You..."
Her lips trembled as she beat her heaving chest with delicate hands, causing ripples.
"Are you crazy?!"
"You beggar, what's wrong with you, trying to get yourself killed?"
"Suddenly popping out from the roadside in the dead of night, trying to cause an accident? Find a quiet place to jump off a building, okay?"
The girl regained her senses and began to angrily curse at Delfina.
If it weren't for this guy suddenly appearing, how could she have had an accident? Fortunately, it seemed like the car had hit the roadside guardrail and stopped, or else she might have flown off the cliff.
"You were speeding, at least three hundred miles per hour just now. Isn't that your problem?" Delfina frowned.
It was only him today. If it had been anyone else, it would have been a case of a wrecked car and a dead person.
"You..." The girl's face turned ugly. What this beggar said was correct, but the car usually had sensitive brakes, so she didn't know what had gone wrong today.
Delfina looked coldly at the girl, shook his head, and turned to leave.
"You beggar, stop right there! You caused me to have an accident and now you want to run away?" The girl saw Delfina about to leave and immediately shouted.
Regardless of the brake issue, it was this beggar's sudden appearance that had thrown her into chaos, leading to the accident.
"Don't run! Do you know how much my car costs? Even if I sell you, you can't afford to pay for it. You wait to go to jail!"
Delfina halted his steps and turned to look at the girl, and his cold eyes emitted a chilling light in the darkness of the night.
"What... what are you going to do..."
The girl was startled, her hands covering her chest, seeming to sober up a bit.
In this wilderness, with no one around, if this beggar in front of her killed her and tossed her into the mountains, her body might not even be found.
Even more frightening was if this beggar still had any intentions towards her...
"You hit me speeding, I didn't ask you for compensation, and yet you want to send me to jail?" Delfina asked coldly.
"I... you... you're not injured at all. How could I possibly have hit you..." The girl was a little scared, shrinking her neck.
She didn't know that Delfina had saved her.
"Not interested in arguing with you. Your brake pads have a problem. Get your car checked."
Delfina said coldly and turned to leave.
The girl stood dumbfounded for a moment, then stomped her foot, angrily shouting, "Hey! Beggar! Stop! Hey!"
However, Delfina walked quickly and soon disappeared.
...
Half an hour later, in the Crystal Palace Residential Area of Ham City.
"Nagnoloa, had an accident?"
"Oh my, you're so careless... Alright, alright, as long as you're okay, then hurry back..."
Hanging up the phone, the beautiful woman patted her chest, as if relieved.
Her daughter was so reckless, always keeping her on edge.
Just then, the phone rang again, and she answered it, her face instantly lighting up with joy.
Afterward, she hurried to the entrance of the residential area and soon brought back a scruffy-looking young man, unkempt and disheveled, resembling a beggar.
"I can't believe it's you! Delfina, we haven't seen each other in so many years, and you've grown up so much!"
"How have you been all these years?"
The woman chattered away, her eyes filled with affection.
The raggedly dressed young man in front of her was none other than Delfina, whom she had picked up from the roadside ten years ago.
Back then, Delfina, just a ten-year-old child, was obedient and well-behaved, and Gardenia liked him very much, even considering adoption. However, before she could complete the formalities, Delfina took the initiative to leave, saying he had relatives.
Delfina smiled, "It's been ten years, Aunt Adler and you're still as beautiful as ever."
"Giggles, Delfina, you still have the same way with words as before."
Gardenia laughed. No matter what age a woman is, being praised for her looks always makes her happy.
"Aunt Adler, I came this time because I wanted to..."
As Delfina spoke, he reached into his pocket, wanting to take something out, but Gardenia pressed down on his hand.
"No rush, no rush, let's talk about the rest later. Delfina, go take a shower first, and I'll get you some clean clothes."
She said, without waiting for a response, pushing Delfina towards the bathroom.
Delfina couldn't refuse and could only go along with her into the bathroom.
He was indeed a bit dirty, but Gardenia didn't seem to mind.
Aunt Adler was a good person. When he was living on the streets, she had picked him up, fed him, and clothed him. If it weren't for Delfina being single-mindedly focused on revenge, perhaps his fate would have been different after being adopted by her.
"Aunt Adler has helped me, and a billion isn't much, but it's a small repayment."
It turned out that he had wanted to take out a bank card earlier.
Over the years, besides cultivating Greenview Mountain, he had also established some influence outside the mountain. A billion dollars was something he could afford.
After quickly showering, Delfina dried himself off and put on the clothes Gardenia had placed at the door.
As he stepped out, there was suddenly a sharp scream, "Ah—!"
The voice was so sharp as if the person had seen something disgusting.
Delfina furrowed his eyebrows and looked up to see the girl across the way screaming.
She was only wearing a thin coat, her slender figure outlined very distinctly. The slender waist, suddenly bulging, seemed a bit inconsistent with the girl's age.
"Beggar! It's you!?"
Through gritted teeth, she was filled with fear.
It was the girl who had hit him with her car earlier.
