chapter 11 A frog in a well cannot talk about the sea

"Fanix, you're quite the actor!"
As soon as Delfina spoke, the scene fell silent.
Suddenly, all eyes focused on the young man beside Hibiscus.
He was tall but somewhat slender, wearing a slightly faded school uniform and carrying an ordinary backpack. Apart from his good looks, there was nothing remarkable about him.
Fanix raised an eyebrow, obviously trying to evade being discovered, but still smiled calmly. "And who might you be?"
"Delfina!"
Delfina's gaze was deep as he said calmly, "House Lending Company, your company under the Evans Group."
"Lending, debt collection, it's all your doing behind the scenes."
"You wanted to force Hibiscus to come to you willingly, but she's strong-willed and never easily bends to others. So you failed. Then, you deliberately orchestrated this hero-saving-the-beauty scenario, hoping to win Hibiscus's affection."
Each word from Delfina made Fanix's eyebrows twitch.
He was right, that was indeed the case.
But Fanix obviously wouldn't admit it. He was about to refute it, but someone beat him to it.
"Delfina! What nonsense are you spouting?"
Nagnoloa had already rushed forward, her pretty face slightly flushed, seemingly very angry. "Delfina, have some dignity, okay? I know you're arrogant, thinking no one can beat you, but facts are facts. There's no room for falsehoods!"
"In front of Mr. Fanix, you're not even worth a hair on his head!"
"You're just jealous! Jealous that Mr. Fanix is richer and more powerful than you, and even more jealous that Mr. Fanix is ten times stronger than you! So you're slandering Mr. Fanix!"
Nagnoloa glared fiercely at him, and in truth, half of what she said was what she truly believed, while the other half was to prevent Delfina from offending Fanix. After all, no matter what, Fanix was the heir of the Evans Group, whereas Delfina was nothing. How dare he confront Fanix!
If it weren't for her mother always caring about Delfina, Nagnoloa wouldn't have stepped forward to help him now. "Delfina, don't be so impulsive. Apologize to Mr. Fanix!"
With that, she signaled to Hibiscus.
Hibiscus wasn't foolish. She immediately understood. "Brother Delfina, you must have misunderstood Mr. Fanix. Please apologize to him."
"Yes!"
"Apologize to Mr. Fanix!"
Frenetos also stepped forward at this moment, glaring coldly at Delfina. If he couldn't match Fanix by Hibiscus's side, what was Delfina? How dare he get so close to Hibiscus!
"Where did this country bumpkin come from! Daring to slander Mr. Fanix! You know that slandering can land you in jail, right!"
Even Bernard joined in at this moment, instigating.
Almost everyone looked down on Delfina, while Fanix, who was being complimented and praised by everyone, smiled lightly. There was a hint of disdain in his eyes as he looked at Delfina.
It's not satisfying to slap someone yourself; it's more satisfying when others rush to slap them for you! Especially when the person slapping them is someone the other party values!
Fanix was feeling quite wonderful at the moment.
Delfina looked on coldly as everyone ganged up on him, but whether it was raging floodwaters or a fierce gale, he remained unmoved like a mountain. "Are you done?"
The crowd fell silent.
"Jealous of Fanix?"
Delfina sneered coldly, full of disdain in his eyes. "He's worthy of it?"
Boom!
As soon as this sentence came out, Fanix's face immediately changed dramatically.
Nagnoloa was dumbfounded at this moment. Delfina was too arrogant!
But Frenetos and Bernard laughed, thinking Delfina was an arrogant fool.
How dare he say such things about Fanix? Didn't he know that Fanix was the heir of the Evans Group?
The Evans! The Evans was a giant in the Southern Province! Stomp your foot, and the entire Southern Province would shake three times.
Only Hibiscus, her face pale, grabbed Delfina's sleeve in a hurry, anxious. "Brother Delfina! Please don't speak nonsense!"
Delfina sighed. Hibiscus, this silly girl, seemed to have weakened in her ability to discern right from wrong.
"Mr. Fanix, don't blame Brother Delfina. He, he was just talking nonsense because he didn't get enough sleep yesterday!" Hibiscus began to plead with Fanix.
Fanix immediately softened his expression, withdrawing the anger from his face. "It's alright, I don't blame him. I won't argue with a fool."
"Oh, Hibiscus, tomorrow is my sister's birthday party, and I'd like to invite you to attend. I hope you can come. What do you say?"
Hibiscus's expression changed. She never liked these kinds of events. But seeing Fanix smiling at Delfina, she immediately realized that if she didn't agree, Fanix might cause trouble for Delfina.
She gritted her teeth slightly and nodded. "Okay, I'll come tomorrow."
Fanix smiled brightly. "Great, see you then."
With that, he didn't say much more, just nodded slightly and left gracefully.
He believed that with his personal charm and formidable abilities, Hibiscus should have realized the disparity between Delfina and himself. She should understand who the real standout was.
Someone like Delfina, a country bumpkin, wasn't even worth his attention, let alone qualified to be his opponent.
Now that Hibiscus had taken the bait, he didn't care about anything else. As for arrogant people like Delfina, he could deal with them later, after he had won over Hibiscus.
"Delfina! You're too stupid!"
Seeing Fanix leave, Nagnoloa finally became angry, glaring at Delfina. "You've ruined it for Hibiscus!"
Nagnoloa knew, of course, the methods of these rich young masters. They wanted to take pretty girls to bed. Hibiscus used to be aloof and indifferent to every one. Perhaps Fanix, considering the reputation of his family, didn't dare to use too extreme methods. But now, with Delfina's disturbance, Hibiscus couldn't refuse anymore to protect him.
This was Delfina harming Hibiscus!
Hibiscus shook her head. "Nagnoloa, stop it. I don't blame Brother Delfina."
"Hibiscus, you're too naive. It's Delfina who harmed you!"
Delfina snorted coldly, disdainful of Nagnoloa's self-righteousness.
"Alright, alright," Hibiscus quickly tried to defuse the situation, grabbing Delfina's hand. "Let's go, Brother Delfina, we should go to class!"
With that, she pulled Delfina into the school.
Throughout the day, Hibiscus felt somewhat absent-minded in class, almost unable to concentrate. Regarding Fanix's invitation, how could she not understand what might happen behind the scenes? But she couldn't ignore Delfina... It's okay, Hibiscus gritted her teeth, convincing herself.
Meanwhile, Delfina, in the same class as Hibiscus, paid no attention to Hibiscus's inner turmoil, simply sleeping on his desk.
He didn't care about going to school and listening to lectures. He already knew all this high school knowledge.
During break time, countless people whispered and gossiped, mocking Delfina, this ignorant country boy who had offended Fanix, eager to see what kind of miserable end he would meet.
Delfina ignored them all.
"Hey, you're quite something."
Only Delfina's desk mate looked at him with shining eyes. Delfina's desk mate was named Madsen, with a somewhat foolish smile.
"Delfina, my man, I admire you the most."
"These people say bad things about you but don't listen to them. They just look down on others because they think you have no power or influence!"
" I don't think Fanix is a good person either. Who is Mr. Fanix without the Evans Group? He's nothing. We self-reliant folks are the ones who truly matter, right?"
Delfina smiled at him lightly, saying, "Hmm," without deliberately rejecting others' kindness.
"But you still need to be careful, especially at that birthday party. You'd better make sure Hibiscus is careful too and doesn't get caught in a trap," Madsen continued.
Delfina nodded but said lightly, "I'll go to the party."
Madsen was taken aback, suddenly feeling that Delfina was boasting too much. "How are you going? The Evans' Miss's birthday party is very high-end. In our class, only a few wealthy kids can attend, like Nagnoloa, Frenetos, and the like."
Delfina said nothing more, unwilling to explain further, and turned his head to continue resting on his desk with his eyes closed.
Madsen saw that Delfina ignored him, thinking he might have embarrassed him with his remarks. He felt Delfina was a good person, but unfortunately, too fond of boasting. With a sigh, he didn't press further.
As school ended, just as Hibiscus was about to go home with Delfina, she was pulled away by Nagnoloa, who gave Delfina a fierce glare before leading Hibiscus away.
Delfina shook his head and paid no attention, walking out of the school on his own.
Why bother with self-righteous people? If it weren't for Nagnoloa's initial good intentions for Hibiscus, along with Aunt Adler's kindness, he wouldn't tolerate her incessant nagging.
There are always those who view the world from their perspective, criticizing the actions of others without realizing they are like frogs at the bottom of a well.
As Delfina walked out of the school, a Stretch Lincoln slowly passed by.
Fanix and Daffodil were seated inside. "Sis Daffodil, tomorrow is your birthday. I invited a few classmates to join."
The beautiful girl sitting in the passenger seat casually nodded. Her mind had been preoccupied with finding the "mysterious" young man these days, so she wasn't too focused on her eighteenth birthday banquet.
At that moment, Delfina passed by outside the car window.
"Sis Daffodil, I have prepared a gift for your birthday..."
Fanix was still speaking when Daffodil absentmindedly nodded. Then, she raised her eyes and saw a familiar figure.
"Stop the car!"
She suddenly shouted, and the driver slammed on the brakes.
The Stretch Lincoln lurched forward before coming to a stop.
As soon as the car stopped, Daffodil couldn't wait and pushed open the door, running out.
