"Uh, nothing much, just went to talk to her grandfather."
"That simple?" Mabel suddenly turned her head, and Ulric felt a bit uncomfortable under her gaze. He bent down to change his shoes and said, "You don't believe me? You can ask Miss Dun."
"Speaking of her, I want to ask how you two know each other?"
Ulric didn't hide anything and explained about treating Flynn's illness. Mabel found it laughable.
Who was Flynn? He was the founder of Dun Group. In the seventies and eighties, he seized the opportunity to enter the real estate industry, gaining fame in Yorkvichill City with his courage.
In recent years, his eldest son Lennox took over, and Dun Group expanded even more, showing a strong momentum of seizing the leading position in Yorkvichill City's real estate.
With such a family background and strength, what kind of medical conditions couldn't they find? Instead, they sought help from a country bumpkin? Who would believe that?
Furthermore, Ulric was so young and rustic-looking, how could he possibly be a doctor?
Mabel didn't believe it at all; she thought Ulric was just trying to elevate his status in her eyes.
"Ulric, don't bother telling me all this nonsense. Let me tell you, if it wasn't for that woman, I wouldn't have let you stay here."
Ulric nodded. "I know! I can see you and Miss Dun don't get along, but that can't be the reason for you to force me to stay out of spite. To be honest with you, I was going to leave this afternoon, but something made me change my mind."
"What happened?"
"Do you remember the human trafficker from last night?"
"I do, what about him? Don't tell me your issue has something to do with him?"
Ulric shrugged indifferently. "It's not about me and him; it's about you. Yesterday, not far from Flores Group, he and his men stopped me and threatened not to let me go because of you."
"Me? I'm just a bumpkin; worst case scenario, I'll leave without a trace. But you're different. You're the heiress of the Flores Family, and scum like him wouldn't fear you because of your status."
"So you stayed because of me?"
Ulric nodded. "You could say that!"
Mabel chuckled. "Ulric, you have some reasonable grounds for wanting to stay. With so many police catching him last night, do you think I'd believe your words? Please, next time you fabricate lies, come up with something better. I'm not a three-year-old you can easily deceive."
Mabel got up and walked towards the bedroom, leaving Ulric speechless.
He spoke the truth, so why didn't she believe him?
Considering her noble and cold personality, Ulric decided not to say anything more.
At ten o'clock at night, neon lights illuminated every corner of the city, especially glaring.
Queen’s Club, a well-known entertainment venue in Yorkvichill City, was bustling at this time. There were many beautiful women inside, attracting the sons of wealthy families to come for entertainment.
As many people indulged in the intoxicating nightlife, on the fifth floor in a private room, Weasel complained bitterly to a bald man sitting on the sofa.
The bald man, in his forties, was responsible for recruiting beautiful girls for the nightclub. Because of his strong physique and ruthless demeanor, people on the street gave him a nickname, Levy.
"Levy, this is how things happened. If it weren't for those two, I would have brought you the person long ago."
Levy didn't take his words seriously. He hugged the woman next to him and drank, while Weasel became anxious and said again, "Levy, believe me, I would never lie to you."
Seeing him explain so much, Levy chuckled. "Weasel, it's not that I don't trust you, but I've noticed you've been quite arrogant lately. Do you think you can just grab girls from here, so you have no fear?"
Weasel looked bitter. "Levy, you're wronging me. How could I dare to show off in front of you? Isn't it because I haven't met any good ones lately? A few days ago, I finally caught one, but those two people ruined it. I was almost caught red-handed by the police."
Seeing him speak so well, Levy pushed the woman aside and asked, "Who are those two?"
"The man is called Ulric, and I'm not sure about his background. But the woman, she frequents Flores Group and should be an employee there."
Flores Group?
Levy paused for a moment. "Are you sure she's just an employee there?"
"Definitely. Otherwise, who would come and go every day? Weasel saw him hesitate and hurriedly spoke, "Levy, that woman is so beautiful, not inferior to the celebrities on TV. If we bring her here, it will be a glory for the nightclub."
Levy frowned unhappily. "Are you implying that our boss's business still needs a woman like her to shine?"
Weasel quickly explained, "Levy, that's not what I meant. What I meant is that the woman is really beautiful. If you don't believe me, you'll see it when we catch her. But this Ulric has some strength, so we need your help to handle this."
"Fine, it's just a woman, right? Bring a few of my guys with me, and we'll go get her. No need to spend so much effort on this." Levy waved his hand impatiently at Weasel. Weasel smiled and flattered, "With Levy's support, I'll make sure it's done beautifully."
Over the next two or three days, Ulric stayed on Bloomfield Boulevard, and Mabel came and went without encountering any danger, thinking that the incident with Weasel was over. However, when Ulric was chatting alone with Wilma, a phone call made his face change slightly.
"What's wrong?" Wilma asked when she noticed his discomfort.
Ulric glanced at her and then said, "Mabel has been kidnapped."
"What?!" Wilma looked surprised. "She's known as the 'Princess' of Yorkvichill City, with the Flores Family behind her. Who would dare to kidnap her?"
Ulric shook his head. "Having a family background doesn't mean everything. In this world, there are too many cases where people die for money or food. Miss Dun, let's talk about this another day."
Seeing his anxious look, Wilma pressed, "Who did it?"
"A human trafficker named Weasel. He wants me to go to the Queen’s Club."
With that said Ulric hurried off to the designated location without looking back.
Concerned for Ulric's safety, Wilma quickly drove after him. "Ulric, get in the car. I'll take you there."
Ulric hesitated for a moment. "Miss Dun, there's no need. It's better if you don't get involved in this."
"Get in the car. It's not safe to catch a taxi at this hour."
With the streets busy with vehicles at this time of night, Ulric stopped refusing and got into the car.
Half an hour later, they arrived at the Queen’s Club, where Mabel was surrounded by a group of men.
Especially Weasel, who grinned at Levy, "Levy, how about that? I didn't lie to you, did I?"
Levy, also smiling, walked around Mabel, highly satisfied, and nodded, "Hmm, not bad, really not bad. She's truly a beauty!"
"Yeah, Levy, with her in the nightclub, are you afraid the business won't thrive?"
Levy glanced at him, and Weasel seemed to understand his meaning. With a pleasing expression, he said, "Levy, this woman has high standards and a cold temperament. Maybe she's still the same... Why not, while that kid hasn't shown up yet, you should..."
