chapter 14 She is my boyfriend, believe it or not ===

by Luke 18:12,Dec 29,2023
At this moment, Griffin was furious. As the eldest son of the Bald Family, what kind of woman couldn't he get? But when it came to Mabel, it was like hitting a rock with an egg, incredibly tough. If it weren't for her status, Griffin would have succeeded long ago, without needing to act like a lapdog, bowing and scraping.
The situation was all seen by the security guard, and as soon as they left, he informed Ulric of the truth, but Ulric didn't take it seriously.
In his view, he had nothing to do with Mabel. If others pursued her, it was their prerogative, and he had no reason to intervene.
But in the afternoon, Mabel suddenly called him, asking him to come to the company, and Ulric didn't understand the situation, so he went to the Flores Group.
It was almost quitting time, and in the CEO's office of the Flores Group, Mabel sat there as cold as ice, while Griffin's face looked ugly.
"Mabel, do you... do you have a boyfriend?"
"I just called him, didn't I? If you don't believe it, you can wait for him to come."
Griffin's mouth twitched; he hadn't expected Mabel to be so blunt. To verify the truth, he resolutely stayed.
Half an hour later, Ulric appeared in front of the building. When the security guard saw him, he hurried forward to greet him, "Mr. Collins, I'm sorry about last time. I was just doing my duty. If I had known you were friends with our CEO, I wouldn't have stopped you no matter what."
"It's okay, I didn't mind. Can I go in this time?"
"Of course, shall I take you there?"
"No need, I can manage on my own."
Ulric stepped into the elevator and, guided by an employee, found Mabel's office.
As he reached the door, Mabel spotted him and said, "Why are you only coming now? Come in quickly."
Seeing another man inside, Ulric didn't understand what was happening, but he nodded and walked in. Before he could speak, Mabel, with a playful look on her face, said to Griffin, "You didn't believe me, did you? He's here. Do you have anything else to say?"
At that moment, Griffin felt extremely embarrassed.
He had initially thought Mabel was fooling him, but who knew she had called her boyfriend over? If he were a handsome and wealthy man, Griffin could have accepted it, but the key was that this man seemed familiar to him.
As for where he had seen him, he couldn't recall for a moment.
However, he couldn't bear this appearance, not even a regular person could stand it.
It was humiliating, utterly humiliating.
Mabel, such an aloof goddess, had chosen such a pauper. Who could tolerate that?
Griffin tried to suppress his anger as he looked at Mabel and said, "Mabel, is this your boyfriend?"
"What's wrong? Don't you believe it?"
Griffin forced a smile, "How could I? What does he have that compares to me? His whole outfit probably doesn't cost more than 200 bucks. How could he possibly be your boyfriend?"
"What's that supposed to mean? Do I have to find someone like you? He is my boyfriend, whether you believe it or not."
Griffin still didn't believe it. He looked at Ulric, who seemed innocent, and gritted his teeth, "Kid, tell me the truth, are you her boyfriend?"
"I..."
Before Ulric could speak, Mabel interjected, "Griffin, are you done? I said he's my boyfriend, so he is. If you want proof, fine, I'll prove it to you."
Mabel got up and went to Ulric, planting a kiss on his cheek. That scene made Griffin tremble with anger.
Ulric was also bewildered. At that moment, he didn't know what to say.
Mabel's cheeks were slightly flushed, but she quickly regained her composure and turned to say, "Don't overthink it. I just wanted to use you to deal with him."
"Oh, I see!"
"Good, now go to the main entrance, I'll come over later."
Ulric was speechless.
As Ulric left the company, he intended to wait on the roadside for Mabel, but at that moment, a Porsche suddenly zoomed past. Luckily, he dodged it in time.
"Ulric, right? You're lucky I didn't run you over this time, but you might not be so lucky next time."
Before Ulric could respond, the Porsche had already sped off.
Ulric naturally knew who was in the car — it was Griffin, who had just walked out of the office.
He had initially thought of him as just seeing himself as a rival, but who would have expected him to want to harm him?
Luckily, he managed to dodge quickly. If it were someone else, they might have ended up disabled if not dead.
"What are you looking at?" Mabel walked over, noticing him gazing into the distance, and asked.
"Oh, nothing! Just a crazy dog running by worried it might bite someone."
"What's it to you? Come with me."
Mabel reverted to her former icy demeanor, completely disregarding the incident of kissing Ulric.
To deal with Griffin, paying a price was inevitable.
Ulric followed her towards Bloomfield Boulevard, attracting the attention of many along the way.
One slender figure dressed plainly, the other with striking features and luxurious attire; the two walking together were quite eye-catching.
"Hey, I wanted to ask, the guy in the office just now?"
"That's Griffin, from the Bald Family."
"I know!"
Mabel was surprised. "You know him?"
"Yeah, I came to see you a while back and bumped into him barging into your group. He even pushed me then!"
"Really? And you still went back?"
Ulric felt embarrassed. "Well, not exactly. I wasn't injured, so what's the point of getting into a confrontation with him?"
"Hmm, you're quite magnanimous. But from today, be careful if you encounter him again."
Mabel's implication was clear, and Ulric understood. The recent incident was a vivid example. However, he wasn't afraid.
When the enemy comes, the defender meets him. If Griffin dared to cause trouble, Ulric wouldn't hesitate to retaliate.
Without realizing it, nearly a month had passed since Ulric arrived in Yorkvichill City. He visited the Dun Family at noon, but seeing Flynn asleep, he didn't want to disturb him.
"Sis Wilma, have you found out anything about Venom?"
At the mention of this, Wilma looked crestfallen. During this time, her father had been secretly investigating, but there were still no clues.
She was quite worried about this. Seeing the deadline of one month approaching, if they couldn't find the real culprit, what about her grandfather?
Wilma didn't dare to dwell on it. She turned to Ulric and said, "If we can't find the real culprit, is my grandfather really beyond help?"
Ulric didn't want to see her sad, but he couldn't deceive her either. His default attitude made the beautiful woman look even more haggard.
"Sis Wilma, don't worry too much. There are still a few days left until the end of the month, maybe we'll have some results."
Wilma sounded despondent. "Don't comfort me. It's been such a long time with no news. How can there be hope these days? If, things come to that point, then we can only leave it to fate."
Wilma didn't want to dwell on her sadness because of Flynn. She forced a smile and said to Ulric, "Did she know you were coming to the Dun Family?"
"Oh, no, she doesn't know. By the way, I wanted to ask you about someone, Griffin. Do you know him?"
Griffin Bald?
"Yeah, it's him!"
Wilma pondered for a moment, then asked, "Why do you ask? Do you have a grudge against him?"
Ulric chuckled bitterly. "More than just a grudge. That guy tried to pursue Mabel, and when he failed, he ran me over with his car."
