The night passed like that. Me feeling hopeless and confused in an unfamiliar place.
Van knocked on my door the next morning. “Princess Talia? Are you awake?”
Standing up, I didn’t bother to brush myself from dust and dirt before I opened the door. There she stood, looking at me like we were on vacation. “Is the truck fixed?”
“I haven’t gotten to that yet,” she said. “I think it’s best if we hunt for food first. I’m starving.”
