chapter 1 Return ===

by Luke 18:01,Jan 09,2024
Afriwood, Keiyan Airport.
A group of people from the Red Dragon were hugging a group of locals as they said goodbye. Many of them were shedding tears and expressing their gratitude and reluctance to these Red Dragon volunteers.
This was the day for the medical team of Chom Hospital to depart.
The leader of the medical team, Aileen Foley, was a thirty-year-old woman. She was the chief surgeon at Chom Hospital; and studied at the Caroling Medical Center, a famous medical institution in the Great Eagle. After returning to the Red Dragon, she immediately participated in the medical team that was providing aid to Afriwood.
It was said that she had gone into a war zone which was hailed with bullets and rescued many people from the peacekeeping force who were seriously injured. Her efforts were admirable and astonishing.
"Okay, team up"
"The medical assistance team from Chom Central Hospital completed its mission in overseas relief on June 24 and will be returning to the Red Dragon today."
The medical team, consisting of more than thirty people, cheered excitedly; even the middle-aged doctors in their forties joined the youths in the team and jumped up in joy.
The crowd who were bidding farewell unraveled their banners. After parting with them, another group of medical team from the Red Dragon would soon arrive. Such teams came and went, and the crowd could no longer remember how many times they had been in their aid.
"Dr. Aileen, if there is a chance, will you come back?"
Aileen smiled and said, "Of course, when I return home, my parents will probably ask me to get married. If nothing goes wrong, I will bring my husband along next time."
"Bless you, Aileen, you are as kind and beautiful as an angel."
All festivities would come to an end.
Aileen had long been accustomed to such farewells. She straightened her emotions and shouted to her medical team, "Line up, we are going home."
However, just as everyone was about to turn and enter the airport hall, a sudden loud noise sounded in the distance.
It was an engine's roar and the harsh screeching of its tires violently against the ground.
The surrounding crowd in the airport exclaimed in shock. There were more than twenty jeeps and countless burly men of different races, causing everyone present to panic.
Upon glancing at the alloy iron frame on the jeeps, it was obvious that the jeeps were designed to mount machine guns and heavy artillery.
What a scene.
The medical team and the others were stunned. They saw the looks on the locals who came to see them off, and their faces were solemn and frightened.
Aileen frowned. People around her might be confused, but she was well aware of the situation in front of her.
Such armed mercenaries were common in Afriwood, and they could capture an entire airport with the weapons they carried.
However, something wasn't right.
Keiyan was a neutral zone. How did these armed forces brazenly charge into the airport?
Screech.
The sound of tires scratching the ground echoed, and more than twenty jeeps stopped at the entrance of the airport hall.
Vehicles were not allowed to enter. Even the respected medical teams needed to park their vehicle in the parking lot and walk for three minutes under the scorching sun to get there.
At this moment.
The door of the driver's seat of the first car opened. A well-built man with an eyepatch alighted and opened the door to the back seat.
Suddenly, a young man wearing a white shirt and bermudas alighted from the car. He then took off his sunglasses and shocked countless people at the scene.
It was a young man from the Red Dragon!
"Boss!" A foreign bald man who got out of the second car shouted at the top of his lungs, "I don't know whether this plane is safe or not. Let's find a military plane to take you back."
The young man smiled sarcastically and slapped the bald man's head. "No one will dare to attack an aircraft from our country. After all, the Red Dragon is now a huge country."
"Oh, if you ask me, the Boss shouldn't leave." Another person alighted from the car. Although his stature was much shorter than the others, his muscles looked ripped and he looked extremely strong.
"We can come and go as we please here. Who dares to mess with us? No matter which war zone we visit, we will always be their guests."
"Changes are necessary in life. Such philosophy is not something you, a stupid monkey, will understand," the young man said with a laugh. He then said goodbye to the twenty over jeeps before finally addressing the bald man, "I'm leaving. All of you must live well, I don't want to see your deaths being reported in the news.”
There was a silence.
A group of staff in suits and ties arrived at the airport.
They were led by a middle-aged man and walked passed the Chom City Medical Team as if they had not heard of them at all. Their target was the group of burly-looking men.
The middle-aged man glanced around, and his eyes immediately fell on the young man from the Red Dragon. He knew.
It was this young man who was regarded as a cruel devil by countless people but was also regarded as a kind-hearted protector by countless others.
"Mr. Dunstan, I have just received a notice from the Minister of the Armed Forces about your presence, and we are honored to have you at our airport."
"I am the person in charge of this airport. Please follow me to board the plane. I have already arranged your seat."
"Thanks." The young man named Dunstan smiled. After saying goodbye to his gang for the last time, he walked into the airport hall with the person in charge.
He was not carrying any luggage.
As Dunstan's figure disappeared past the door, Monkey, the man with the short stature lit a cigar, took a puff, and pulled out a machine gun from his car. He pointed the muzzle pointing toward the sky and shot violently.
Tick, tick, tick, tick.
He fired a whole round of bullets in a few seconds. He then laughed loudly and shouted at the twenty over jeeps behind him, "The Boss said he will be treating us today before he left, so brothers, let's go visit the brothels."
Clack clack clack. The roaring of the engines echoed into the sky.
Immediately, the twenty-over jeeps roared and sped away from the airport. Only the bullet shells were left on the ground, along with countless panic-stricken tourists and passers-by.
"Fabian, who are those people?"
"Oh God, he, he actually fired within the airport's compound. How did they even enter Keiyan?"
"No, you should be asking how they entered the airport. Have you forgotten that the airport's entrance is guarded by armed officers?"
The confusion turned into a riot, and countless travelers and passers-by cried for help.
Some passengers who had just landed were already thinking about turning back.
Chom City Medical Team.
They were as frightened and confused as the public. In the past four years, they were used to seeing blood, flesh, and wounds. They were also accustomed to the presence of armed guards.
Some of them even went to a clearing to practice live shooting, but this was the first time they experienced such a violent shooting from a machine gun.
Who could have imagined they would encounter such a frightening experience in the last hour before leaving?
"It's terrible, these people are so unruly."
"Why aren't the military and police stepping in?"
Faced with such doubts, even the locals who came to see them off were riddled with confusion.
However, they had a general idea of the situation. "These people should be from the mercenary in North Afriwood. They must be acquainted with many parties, and some of them must be VIPs of high-ranking leaders."
"Mercenary Group"
Such words were too distant to them.
They had been living in a prosperous and peaceful city for four years; with offices, residences, and clubhouses. What were the chances of witnessing such violent scenes?
However, at that moment.
Aileen calmly said, "We should check in now. If we miss this flight, we have to wait until three o'clock tomorrow afternoon."
With that, she dragged her suitcase and turned around to leave.
It seemed that the violent occurrence had no impact on her, and it was just an understatement.
"Aileen is too tough, she's not afraid at all," a young doctor said and couldn't help but sigh.
"She frequently visits this place. Rumor has it that she has treated many military officers. Even her former mentor was a guest of some powerful leaders."
"But that was a machine gun firing. Could it be that Aileen had a similar experience years ago?"
Amid the shock, everyone just wanted to leave the horrifying place as soon as possible. They had completed their mission and hoped the next medical team that arrived could spend their four years in peace.
The international airport was not big.
In the airport hall.
There seemed to be a ruckus as countless tourists were questioning the airport's security capabilities.
However, the airport staff evaded the questions and shirked responsibility.
Since those unruly people could get past the military blockade into the airport, the airport should not be responsible for the shooting.
At that moment.
Aileen looked at the scene with contempt in her heart. Could it be that no one remembered that young man from the Red Dragon?
It seemed that the mercenary group came to say goodbye to him.
Moreover, the person in charge of the airport went out to greet him and treated him with respect.
It would be a lie to say she wasn't shocked.
Aileen understood that that mercenary group was definitely not weak. If they dared to fire guns and wreak havoc at the gate of the airport, they must have someone backing them.
At that moment.
The boarding gate to Chom City opened, and the airport manager walked out.
No one else noticed, except Aileen, who frowned slightly and became thoughtful.
However, before she could delve into her thoughts, a girl next to her, who looked around twenty-five or -six, interrupted her thoughts, "Aileen, after returning to the Red Dragon, do you think I can be promoted to deputy director?"
Aileen smiled and scratched the girl's nose. "Aurelia, even if you aren't promoted to deputy director, your salary will go up. You spent four years of your youth here, and you haven't even found a boyfriend. If the hospital leaders don't promote you, I'll help you give them a scolding.”
"Aileen, you're the best."Aurelia laughed playfully and rested her head on Aileen's shoulder. "Aileen, when you go back, you should be promoted to professor, right?"
As soon as Aurelia finished, Aileen shook her head.
"Probably, but I might not be taking on the role for the time being."
"Oh." Aurelia was not the only one stunned, several others around them were also surprised. "Aileen, are you planning to return to the Caroling Medical Center again?"
Aileen didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "It's not that I'm going abroad. I'm already thirty. I can't stay single for long. My parents gave me an ultimatum. When I get home, I have to go on a blind date, get married, and bear children. Considering all the troubles, wouldn't I need at least a year and a half of leave?”
"Ha ha"
This time, everyone smiled. "Isn't that an ideal arrangement?"
"Being able to marry a beauty like Aileen, I wonder who the lucky man will be."
Lively chatter erupted and the atmosphere became cheerful.
At last.
The ground staff announced it was time for boarding. As soon as Aileen heard the announcement, she stood up and said, "Everyone, I'm heading in first. We'll gather again after we get off the plane."
Everyone smiled and nodded enviously.
First class. Only a doctor like Aileen, who had a high-paying salary and was once a part of the top hospital in the Great Eagle, would be willing to spend on it.
As for them...
Heh heh...
"1B" Aileen read her boarding pass and searched for her seat.
However, just when she arrived at the seats in the first row, her seat was already occupied.
Aileen was stunned for a moment, and when she saw the face of the man who was pretending to be asleep on her seat, she was shocked.
How could it be?
It was him.
