Chapter 13

Vivian was shocked. "You… you've blacklisted me?" "I told you that there wouldn't be stars for the next few days, so we don't need to contact any more. In seven days, we'll get divorced and go separate ways." She burst out laughing. "Cirrus, am I a beast in your eyes? Why are you so afraid of me?" Cirrus sneered. "You're a cruel man." Dopey and drowsy, she sniffled and asked in a trembling voice, "Cirrus, do you think I have no feelings?" How could he "stab" at her heart so mercilessly? He replied coldly, "How could a cold-blooded woman have feelings?" "Cirrus, you'll regret it." "Yes, I regret knowing you." Vivian hung up the phone directly. Why bother? Now that she knew his attitude towards her, she should not have harbored any hope and humiliated herself. Mrs. Moorsum knocked on the door softly and popped her head in. "Vivian, how is it going? I know how much Cirrus loved you. If you explain to him well, he will surely…" Vivian interrupted. "Mrs. Moorsum." "Eh?" Vivian wiped away her tears with the back of her hand and revealed a big smile. "I miss the wontons you cooked." Seeing Vivian's smile, Mrs. Moorsum thought that the misunderstanding was finally gone and sighed with relief. Gladly, she said, "That's easy. I'll cook them for you. Have a nice sleep, and enjoy wontons when you're awake." "Thank you, Mrs. Moorsum." "There's no need for thanks. Cirrus loves wontons, too. I'll cook some more so that he can enjoy them when he arrives." Vivian smiled silently. How could he come back? Suddenly thinking of something, Mrs. Moorsum clapped her hands and said, "Oh right, Vivian, I just remembered something. It may be helpful to find out the truth. On the morning of the car crash, a 4S store employee offered to do regular maintenance on Mr. Williams's car. She was so sneaky that I suspect that she had something to do with the crash. When Cirrus comes, I'll tell him about this and ask him to investigate that store. There must be something wrong with that store." Vivian was enlightened all at once. "Did you see her face?" "Yes, but it's hazy in my memory now. I can only remember that she was very young and I wondered why it was a woman, rather than a man, doing such hard work…" Vivian asked hastily, "Do you know what Florence does?" "I heard that Cirrus met her in a 4S store…" For an instant, Mrs. Moorsum was dumbfounded. "Vivian, could it be that…" Vivian nodded. "Two days ago, Florence came to tell me that it was she who tampered with the car to cause the car crash!" "Good gracious, " Mrs. Moorsum exclaimed. "Oh no, I have to tell Cirrus about this when he comes!" Vivian felt her heart beating again. Cirrus did not believe her words, but he undoubtedly trusted Mrs. Moorsum. As long as he investigated the issue, the full story would come out. She felt excited and wronged at the same time. Taking out her phone, she started to record a new video. "Aelius, mommy seems to have found a way to get your daddy back. Do what Mr. Harris and the nurses tell you to do, cause' they'll help build you up. After daddy finds out the truth, I'll take him to you. I'll also give birth to your brother or sister and then cure you. Are you happy about it?" "You cannot imagine how excited I am. I thought I had only seven days for a bet, but if daddy knows the truth, I'll have a few more weeks to live and bring your brother or sister to this world more smoothly. Aelius, mommy loves you and your daddy very, very much…" Before she could finish her words, she vomited blood on the floor again. Thankfully, the quilt was not stained, or Mrs. Moorsum would be worried about her. She wiped the blood off the floor with several tissues and flushed them down the toilet. It was as if nothing had happened. Tired from abrupt mood swings, she laid on the bed and wrapped herself tightly with the sheet to get warmer. Perhaps because of the fever, she felt chilly in a cold sweat, losing all consciousness. She had a dream. In this dream, Cirrus held her gently in his arms and apologized to her. He said that it was his fault to trust Florence and blame her, and that he wanted to start over with her and see their child abroad. The dream was too beautiful. It was so beautiful that… even if she was asleep, she knew it was a dream. Bang— A loud noise woke her up from the dream. Vivian climbed out of the bed with difficulty and cried, "Mrs. Moorsum? Mrs. Moorsum?" No one replied. Was anything wrong? She walked up to the window and found that the rain had stopped. In the garden, there was a shocking pool of blood and a person with twisted limbs in its middle. "Mrs. Moorsum!"
