Chapter 19

Cirrus examined Eric's face coldly for a few seconds and then shifted his gaze to Vivian.  The next moment, he sneered and said, "Vivian, it seems that you’ve been ready for a new life." "What are you talking about? You misunderstood me," Vivian said.  When she was about to explain, Cirrus said coldly, "I misunderstand you? Peter asked me to come to the hospital as soon as possible and said that you were dying. But you look so good now. You even have the energy to flirt with another man." Vivian's face darkened and she said, "Cirrus, could you calm down and be reasonable?" "I'm not here to reason with you," Cirrus said. "Then what are you doing here?" Vivian asked. "I'm here to see if it's true that you are dying or if you played a trick again to deceive me into coming here," Cirrus said. All of a sudden, Vivian felt physically and mentally exhausted. "I indeed... Forget it. You can think whatever you like." She was tired of explaining to him again and again. She had lived such a life for five years and was fed up with it. Previously, she wanted to explain to Cirrus that she had nothing to do with the car accident that happened six years ago. At this time, she wanted to explain to him that she didn't lie to him and she was really sick. But Cirrus had never believed her and all her explanations were in vain. He had assumed that she was a liar. In this case, no matter how hard she tried to gain his trust, he wouldn't believe her. "Vivian, now let me ask you a question. When did we have a child?" Cirrus asked coldly. Vivian smiled helplessly and said, "Will you believe me if I tell you?" "You can tell me first. I'll judge if you are telling the truth." "Six years ago, not long after the car accident, I learned that I was pregnant. But due to the car accident, you hated me and didn't talk to me at all. I had to go abroad to give birth to the child. The child was born with septicemia and needed to be hospitalized. I couldn't bring him back at that time." Cirrus raised her eyebrows and said, "Really?" Obviously, he didn't believe what Vivian had said. Vivian suddenly regretted saying this to him.  Just now, she had made up her mind not to explain to Cirrus. However, she still remained a ray of hope for him so she told him about their child.  But Cirrus' reaction told her that what she did was nothing but inviting humiliation. "I heard your conversation outside the door just now. You have known this man for six years, which is 2192 days. To save the child, you returned to Hadale alone. It is also this man who has been taking care of the child abroad these years, right?" "I'm indeed taking care of the child," Eric suddenly said. He had been standing aside and couldn't stand Cirrus' attitude anymore. "Mr. Williams, nice to meet you. I've heard a lot about you. There is a legend about you in the business circle. You built a business empire in just two years and it's said that you are a genius. But today I find that it's just an undeserved reputation. You may be a genius in business, but you are no good at dealing with your marriage." Cirrus sneered and said, "Sir, I don't need a stranger like you to judge what kind of person I am."Seeing this, Vivian struggled to stand up. Then she covered her aching incision with one hand and gently pushed Eric with the other.  "Mr. Harris, thank you for coming to see me. You may go back first. I can handle everything myself," she said.As a lawyer, Eric was always calm and composed. He couldn't help but speak for Vivian just now because he couldn't bear to see Cirrus treat her so badly. But he also knew that he was an outsider and shouldn't say anything more in such a situation. Eric patted Vivian on the shoulder gently and said, "Have a good rest. Don't worry about the children. I'll take care of them." "Okay. Thank..." When Vivian wanted to thank him, she suddenly remembered what he had just said so she shut up immediately and then looked at Eric with an embarrassed look. Noticing the embarrassment on her face, Eric smiled and said gently, "It's okay. Take it easy. Don't push yourself too hard in everything. Besides, as your friend and a lawyer, I advise that you divorce as soon as possible. If you need a lawyer, call me at any time."Vivian nodded. "I see." When Eric walked to the door, Cirrus, who was still standing at the door, didn't move or make way for him. She didn't know whom he was competing with. "Mr. Williams, excuse me," said Eric. Frowning tightly, Cirrus stared at him for a long time before he finally took a small step aside. Eric then had to walk sideways out of the ward. After watching Eric leave, Vivian breathed a sigh of relief and sat back on the bed. It seemed that the effect of the anesthetic was wearing off and the incision on her chest was getting more and more painful. "You don't want him to go?" Cirrus asked tonelessly. "He has gone. Do you need me to ask him to come back?"Vivian frowned and closed her eyes. When the pain subsided a little, she said weakly, "Yes, I don't want him to leave. Are you satisfied with this answer?" "Humph," Cirrus sneered. "You finally admit it." "Admit what?" "You've known him for six years and the child is five years old now. He's the child's father, right?" Cirrus said. "No wonder he is willing to raise the child for so many years. If he is not the child's father, he couldn't have done such a thing." "…" Vivian was speechless. "Vivian, you deceived me into coming to see you again and again with different excuses. Last time, you used getting divorced as an excuse. What's your excuse this time? You will die soon? Or you ever gave birth to a child for me?" "…" "Vivian, can't you think up a better excuse?" "Get out of here," Vivian suddenly said. "What?" Cirrus was stunned.  "I said, get out of here," Vivian said calmly, pointing in the direction of the door. "You're just here to see if I am dead or not, aren't you? Now you've seen that I am not only alive but also in the mood to flirt with another man. And I even have the energy to lie to you by saying that my child with another man is yours. Now you've known everything. If you don't have any other questions, get out of here and I don't want to see you anymore!" Seeing her lose her temper, Cirrus was stunned and stood there silently for several minutes. In his memory, Vivian had been gentle in the past few years. And whenever she talked to him, she would show a good attitude. She had never been so emotional before. When Peter told him that Vivian had a five-year-old son who was having an operation and her life was also in danger, he drove here immediately, pressing the accelerator hard all the way. The child was five years old, which meant Vivian was pregnant six years ago when he was still with Vivian. When Cirrus thought that the child might be his, his heart beat faster. But at the same time, he felt annoyed. In his heart, Vivian was the one who plotted the car accident that caused his parents' death and she was his enemy. He shouldn't care about his enemy so much. All these thoughts made Cirrus' mind in a mess. And he didn't know whether he was anxious because of Vivian or the child. He was anxious to see Vivian at once. However, when he rushed to the ward, he heard the conversation between Vivian and Eric. Eric said that he had known Vivian for six years. He said that he wanted her to accept him. He also said that she looked beautiful when smiling... Cirrus then misunderstood Vivian and thought that she had deceived him again. He suddenly felt that what he had done was so foolish and ridiculous. Even if he didn't believe Vivian, he still come to the hospital when he heard that her life was in danger.

Cirrus examined Eric's face coldly for a few seconds and then shifted his gaze to Vivian.
