chapter 11 The Way of Traditional Chinese Medicine ===

by Lyra 19:04,Dec 20,2023
Mr. Colt was deeply shocked. It was something only an expert could do, to be able to identify the medicinal ingredients in the cream just by smelling it. He, on the other hand, was dressed in a security guard uniform and didn't look like someone who studied medicine. Could he be a young master from a prestigious medical family, working as a security guard for fun?
Mirela stared at him, her heart filled with astonishment. How could he be so knowledgeable about traditional Chinese medicine? His nose could even qualify him to be a Chinese medicine practitioner. Why did he end up as a security guard?
He truly was a lazy person, content with his current situation. Mirela coldly snorted in her heart, feeling somewhat disgusted with her cheap husband once again.
Meanwhile, Verdell gazed at Corentin intently, finding him to be a mysterious man who seemed to understand everything, even traditional Chinese medicine.
"Young man, please continue. I'm all ears," Mr. Colt said with excitement. He believed that the young man before him, dressed as a security guard, was definitely extraordinary.
Corentin continued, "This BB cream is made with a combination of angelica and glossy ganoderma. However, only high-quality glossy ganoderma can truly exhibit the effects of long-term use in promoting vitality and anti-aging. By adding ginseng to the mix with angelica, the same effects can be achieved. Korean ginseng, which is not expensive, can achieve these effects—replenishing vital energy, strengthening the body, and moisturizing the skin. Therefore, there's no need to use such expensive high-grade glossy ganoderma as the medicinal ingredient. Korean ginseng will suffice."
After hearing these words, Mr. Colt was stunned on the spot. After a moment, his eyes sparkled, and he exclaimed, "Well said, well said! Young man, you truly have great insight. I admire you!"
Upon hearing Mr. Colt's admiration, everyone present was dumbfounded. They thought Corentin was just talking nonsense, but it turned out he was speaking profound truths. It should be noted that Mr. Colt was a renowned traditional Chinese medicine practitioner in China, and Soaring Group had spent a fortune to invite him to develop cosmetics with traditional Chinese medicine ingredients!
Galea, the general manager of Harking, looked at Corentin with a changed expression. His contempt turned into awe. A mere security guard had a deep understanding of traditional Chinese medicine. Truly, appearances can be deceiving!
"There's one more thing, Mr. Colt. You used poria cocos in the cream to harmonize the other four medicinal ingredients. But there's another herb that can achieve the same effect—licorice. It has a mild and harmonizing nature, warming the middle when roasted!"
Traditional Chinese medicine in China has been passed down for thousands of years, with vast knowledge and depth. Each herb has its own medicinal properties, and licorice is a very inexpensive herb that is often overlooked. However, it has the unique ability to harmonize the properties of other herbs.
"Licorice!" Mr. Colt exclaimed in surprise. After pondering for a while, he exclaimed, "Why didn't I think of that? It's brilliant, truly brilliant! Young man, every word you say is like a precious gem. At such a young age, to have such insight into traditional Chinese medicine, I truly admire you."
Silence!
The entire office fell into a deep silence!
Everyone looked at Corentin in shock. It was hard to imagine that a security guard like him could speak such profound words, leaving even the middle-aged veteran traditional Chinese medicine practitioner in awe.
Galea exclaimed excitedly, "Mr. Colt, quickly calculate how much cost can be reduced now!"
Excited, Mr. Colt quickly took out an abacus and calculated. After a while, his eyes lit up. "Manager Galea, we should be able to reduce the cost by 90%. Based on my calculations, we only need to sell it for 60 dollars to make a profit."
"60!" Everyone exclaimed in astonishment. Wow, with just a few pointers from Corentin, the cream developed by Harking could become a mass-market product. If it were marketed, it would definitely be highly profitable!
Mr. Colt praised, "Young man, what's your name?"
"I'm Corentin," Corentin replied straightforwardly.
At this moment, Mr. Colt suddenly appeared a bit "shy." He rubbed his palms and chuckled, "Corentin, can I become your disciple?"
Everyone stared wide-eyed, unable to believe their ears. Had Mr. Colt lost his mind? He was already in his sixties and wanted to become a disciple of a young man in his twenties?
Corentin chuckled and was also taken aback. He laughed, "Mr. Colt, don't tease me. My meager skills are far from being worthy of being a master. It's more appropriate for me to become your disciple."
"With your knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine just now, I am not as good as you," Mr. Colt confidently stated. He believed that Corentin's achievements in Chinese medicine were extraordinary.
Corentin laughed and shrugged, feeling a bit thunderstruck. "Mr. Colt, don't make fun of me. I grew up in the countryside and often dealt with herbal medicine from the mountains. So, I'm more familiar with traditional Chinese medicine. But my skills are nothing special."
Mr. Colt sighed softly. "I have never misjudged a person before. It's a pity that someone with your talent is content being a security guard."
"I need to use the restroom first," Corentin laughed and quickly left.
"President, should we consider assigning this security guard named Corentin to our Harking research and development department?" Galea whispered to Mirela.
Mirela replied coldly, "If he had that intention, he wouldn't have applied to be a security guard."
Galea was rebuffed and couldn't say anything further. She then turned to Verdell and asked, "Miss Curry, what do you think about our collaboration?"
Verdell's beautiful eyes shimmered with a mysterious light. It was hard to imagine that the enigmatic Corentin also knew traditional Chinese medicine. It was quite impressive.
"Huh?!" Verdell was startled by Galea's call and snapped back to reality.
Galea repeated, "I'm talking about our collaboration."
"Sure, let's discuss the details with my agent," Verdell waved her hand and her agent quickly approached to discuss the collaboration with Galea in her office.
"Corentin, why did you leave so quickly?" Verdell caught up with Corentin as he descended the stairs.
"I have to go back to the parking lot to work, or else my salary will be deducted," Corentin smiled.
Verdell pouted, "Corentin, why don't you quit being a security guard and come work as my bodyguard? I'll pay you 700,000 dollars a year, how about it?"
700,000 dollars—Corentin's heart skipped a beat. He couldn't deny that it was tempting, but he shook his head. "I'm sorry, I won't work as a bodyguard for anyone anymore."
Corentin's words emphasized one thing—he had worked as a bodyguard before, and Verdell knew this because Corentin possessed all the qualities of a professional bodyguard.
"Can you at least work for me? Please?" Verdell asked with anticipation.
"Sorry, I'm used to my current job and I'm not considering a change at the moment."
If Verdell had said this half a month ago, Corentin might have actually gone with her. But now, Corentin had an agreement in place and couldn't run away.
"I see. Then can we at least be friends?" Verdell pouted her red lips and said pitifully, as if she was saying, "If you don't agree, I'll cry for you."
"..."
Corentin sighed helplessly. "Okay, I have to go to work now."
"Okay, when you have free time, I'll call you and treat you to a meal," Verdell waved to the gradually departing Corentin.
