At that moment, Corentin's phone rang. It was a call from Mirela. With his hands still handcuffed, he answered the call.
Mirela's voice was still icy cold. "Where are you?"
Corentin smiled. "I'm at the police station."
"The police station? Why are you there?" Mirela sounded puzzled.
Corentin explained in detail why he had been taken to the police station. After listening, Mirela decisively hung up the phone.
This made Corentin wryly shake his head. He had hoped that she would help him, but it seemed that they were like birds in the same forest, each flying away when a disaster struck. Not to mention that he was just a fake husband.
Corentin knew that no one could stop him from leaving here if he wanted to, but he didn't want to resort to force. However, if this police station continued to be unreasonable, he might have to use brute force to solve the problem.
The chubby officer sat across from him, legs crossed, and boasted, "No one can save you today, so don't hold any hope..."
Before he could finish his sentence, a loud bang was heard. The interrogation room door was forcefully kicked open, and a bald man covered in cold sweat rushed in.
Just as the chubby officer was about to curse at the intruder, he turned around and saw the bald man, and immediately froze. "Chief, why are you here?"
Slap! The bald chief slapped the chubby officer's head hard and shouted, "What are you doing? How dare you arrest people indiscriminately!"
The chubby officer understood exactly who the chief was referring to and whispered, "Chief, it was Mr. Curry who asked me to arrest him."
The bald chief's heart trembled, and he asked in a low voice, "Brant?"
"But didn't you just know who called me earlier?" the chubby officer gritted his teeth.
"Who?" The chubby officer had a bad feeling.
The bald chief said each word slowly, "The Secretary!"
"What!" The chubby officer was so scared that he almost fell to the ground, cold sweat immediately forming on his forehead.
When the bald chief received the call earlier, he was excited beyond words. He never expected that the Secretary would personally call a small chief like him. It was truly an honor. But as soon as the call connected, the Secretary immediately scolded him harshly, saying that if he couldn't handle this matter properly, he would be removed from his position and sent back to the countryside to farm.
Now, the bald chief was terrified and fell to the ground. He hurriedly rushed over, not knowing who had been arrested by his police station, causing such a furious reaction from his superiors.
"Do you know how to handle this matter?" the bald chief asked with a cold face.
"How to handle it? Brant's uncle is Barrow, a ruthless figure in Kangserene. The other person is Prairie. We can't afford to provoke them," the chubby officer almost cried. He couldn't believe his bad luck in encountering such a situation.
The bald chief couldn't help but curse angrily, "You idiot! Are you born from a pig? Can't you just pass the responsibility onto someone else and let they settle it themselves?"
"I understand!" The chubby officer wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, realizing the chief's wisdom.
The bald chief walked over with an apologetic smile. "Young Master Bill, this is all a misunderstanding. I hope you don't take it to heart."
"A misunderstanding?" Corentin sneered. "It doesn't look like a misunderstanding to me at all. That chubby guy just said he wanted to force a confession and that no one could save me."
This damn chubby guy wanted to harm him. The bald chief immediately glared at the chubby officer. "Apologize to Young Master Bill!"
"If apologies were useful, why do we need you police officers?" Corentin sneered contemptuously.
The bald chief quickly understood and shouted, "Arrest Ronan and suspend him pending investigation."
The two auxiliary police officers outside the interrogation room immediately handcuffed Ronan. Ronan felt as if his heart had turned to ashes. He knew that at most, he would be suspended for a few months, but his future was undoubtedly ruined. He had even had a chance to become a regular officer.
Ronan regretted deeply. It was his own foolishness that had brought this upon himself.
"Corentin, have you calmed down now?" the bald chief fawned.
Corentin couldn't be bothered to speak to these superficial people anymore. He had the chief unlock the handcuffs and walked straight out of the police station. As soon as he stepped out of the station's gate, he saw a Range Rover parked at the entrance, and sitting inside was his wife, Mirela.
At this moment, Mirela rolled down the car window and said calmly, "Get in the car."
Corentin knew very well who was behind the sudden change in attitude from the chubby auxiliary officer and the bald chief. He walked up and suddenly noticed that there was another person sitting in the passenger seat. With a glance, he saw a perfectly symmetrical classical oval face, as if she had stepped out of the most standard beauty manga. Unlike the big eyes of an ordinary beauty, her eyes were large and vibrant, as if they were rippling with water, constantly silently expressing something.
She had a strong and straight nose, combining the grace of a woman with a touch of masculine charm. Her slightly thin cherry lips presented a nearly transparent gem-like red, always moist and seemingly capable of intoxicating anyone with just a glance. Her long, glossy black hair cascaded down like a waterfall, perfectly draping over her slender shoulders.
She was wearing a white short skirt that perfectly outlined her exquisite curves, resembling a fairy descending to earth, exuding a captivating beauty that intoxicated countless boys.
Another devastatingly beautiful woman, and judging by her appearance, she seemed to be only seventeen or eighteen years old, exuding a youthful charm. Corentin looked at her and felt as if he had aged several years in an instant.
"What are you looking at? Haven't you seen a beauty before?" the beautiful girl snorted with a heavy nasal voice, feeling annoyed as she noticed Corentin's eyes wandering up and down her body.
Corentin shrugged indifferently. "Beauties are meant to be looked at, aren't they? Or are they meant to be kissed?"
"You!" At this moment, the beautiful girl's eyes almost spewed fire. She was used to being spoiled and never expected to encounter someone who dared to oppose her.
"Corentin, she's my cousin. Watch your words," Mirela furrowed her eyebrows, her voice icy cold, as if warning him that if he dared to speak out of line, the police officers would throw him back in.
"Uh," Corentin was slightly taken aback, quickly putting on a smiling face and saying, "Hello, cousin!"
The beautiful girl almost fainted from anger. "Who's your cousin? Don't try to get close to me."
"Elara, you should also keep quiet," Mirela said, her eyes showing a hint of tenderness, while her expression towards Corentin remained cold.
However, they were now husband and wife, so it was only natural for Corentin to call her cousin. Mirela didn't blame Corentin for his slip of the tongue; she just didn't want to admit it.
Elara crossed her arms in frustration. "Cousin, is he the bodyguard you mentioned? He has such thick skin and looks like a ruffian. To put it bluntly, he's like a..."
Before Elara could finish her sentence, Corentin interrupted, "A wolf in sheep's clothing, right? If I'm a wolf in sheep's clothing, then you and your cousin would be little white rabbits, wouldn't you?"
"..."
Elara was stunned for a moment, then shouted, "You're the little white rabbit! Your whole family are little white rabbits!"
Looking at Corentin's faded jeans, white shirt, and worn-out canvas shoes, Elara snorted, "Just a lowly bodyguard, acting all high and mighty. I'll make sure my cousin fires you immediately, believe it or not?"
"I actually don't believe it," Corentin remained nonchalant, as if he didn't care about Elara at all. This was what angered her the most.
