Chapter 6 She Met Xia yu

Antony’s face was calm, but an undetectable light flashed in his eyes. “Don’t play this kind of trick in front of me.”

She lowered her head and was silent. With his identity, everything he said was right, so she had nothing to say.

She turned around and didn’t even want to excuse herself, and directly returned to her room.

Her mother said that her personality was too cold. Actually, she wanted to defend herself. When she was in high school, she was the vice-president of the students’ council in school. She was cheerful and lively, who was recognized by everyone.

“Oh, Helen, it’s you?” Then she was thinking, patting her own head. “Look at me. Aren’t you available? Who am I looking for then?” she said, then she passed the transparent plastic bag to Helen’s hand. “This is young master’s medicine, send it to him.”

“Medicine?” Helen lifted up the bag in her hand and there was a small print wrote, “Depression, sleep?” She froze. Such insufferably arrogant person like him had depression?

Seeing her doubt, Mrs. Liu couldn’t help but sighed. “Something happened to young master when he was a kid, then he can never sleep well at night. So he must take these medicines.”

Helen hummed. All rich families had something they couldn’t tell people. It was better for her to know less.

“Or shall I ask the driver to send it over? I’m also not familiar with the road,” she declined. She really didn’t want to interact much with that man.

“I’m afraid the drive has loose lips. You know there are some things that is inconvenient to let outsiders know.”

“Helen, do me a favor. Young master will be away on a business trip this afternoon. I’m afraid it’ll be too late if we don’t send it over now.”

Business trip? He could buy it when he got there. Didn’t he have money?

“This medicine can’t be bought in ordinary places.” Even though Mrs. Liu wasn’t a business person, she naturally could gauge people’s mind as she had lived with The Davis for years. She could see Helen’s hesitation, so she continue to explain patiently.

“Forget it, go back to your work. I’ll go by myself,” Mrs. Liu said, about to take back the medicine. Helen’s heart softened when she thought of her pain.

Under the one-hundred-story building, Helen took a deep breath. It was her first time to enter such luxurious and high-end building. She really felt like Grandma Liu entering the Grand View Garden and was a little nervous.

When she found the reception desk, she said that she had something to send. The receptionist scanned at her up and down, looking not believing. But, she still politely asked her to sit at the sides and called the president’s office on the top floor.

“Medicine? The president isn’t sick, what medicine? Can’t you do your job right?” the secretary said and then ended the call.

The receptionist looked a bit upset because she was scolded. She turned to Helen and said, “Excuse me, miss. The people on top said that no one asking for medicine, so I can’t let you go up.” Then she turned and ignored her.

These days, women who wanted to approach the president really had all tricks up their sleeves.

Helen closed her eyes and sighed. For society to judge people by appearances was not strange thing anymore. She took out her phone and dialed Mrs. Liu’s phone, wanting her to say a few words to Antony Davis, but she couldn’t reach her phone.

She thought about leaving and didn’t want to care, but she was entrusted by someone. To leave just like that would be too irresponsible.

So she found a seat by the doorway and sat there. Mrs. Liu said that he had a business trip this afternoon, so she would wait by the door. There shouldn’t be a problem.

Leaning against the chair, she felt a little sleepy.

“Helen…” In her blurry state, she heard someone was calling her name. It was a man’s voice.

She opened her eyes and immediately stood up when she saw the person. “Doc—Dr. Xia, why… why are you here?” She was too surprised. She couldn’t believe that she could meet an acquaintance in C City.

Xia Yu stared at Helen and stepped forward without any explanation and took her into his arms. “When your mother passed away, I was on a business trip. I only heard about it after I came back. Then, I never saw you again. I couldn’t reach your phone. I thought I will never see you again.” He heard that she was asking about The Davis Group, so he came here to try his luck, but he didn’t expect to get to meet her.

Because of her mother’s illness, they had known each other for almost five years. Perhaps her appearance was the most ordinary out of every woman he knew, but her heart was the most beautiful he had ever met.

He remembered the first time he met her, he was doing a ward round. And he didn’t know why but she was being scolded by her mother with such ugly and mean words. But not only didn’t she get angry, she even kept a smile on and advised her mother to not hurt herself.

Since that moment, he paid more attention to this ordinary girl.

Later, he found that she was crying behind her mother’s back. But after she wiped away her tears, she told a joke to a child with cancer. She was very tired and sleepy herself, but she still massaged for the grandma who in the same room and had just undergone an operation.
