Chapter 34

It was unbearably dark inside that I had to squint and let my eyes adjust. Two brown orbs blinked at me. "Shhh," Lulu said. My fear ebbed away. She was safe and sound. "Come with me to the back." She guided me past the shelves, to the inner part of the shop, behind the counter. A small flashlight was opened there, pointed down so as not to attract attention. The person who was holding it, Lynx, looked up at me.

"What are you doing here?" I whispered, coming beside her. She shrugged....
