It was eight-thirty in the morning when I stood on the hallway between my room and Lulu's. She could still be asleep. I headed to the stairs, stopped, my foot hovering on the first step. What if she was already awake and she wanted coffee? Going back to her door, I pressed my ear on the wood, listening for signs of activity. It was incredibly quiet inside.
