"That was my sister's life-saving money, and you used it to buy a house for your brother!"
Kane York felt angry and wanted to slap the woman in front of him.
Hazel Nash glanced at the girl on the sickbed who was wearing an oxygen mask.
She said, "Didn't you not realize what kind of illness is your sister having? Spending hundreds of thousands to cure is a waste!"
She spoke with a matter-of-fact tone and didn't feel any guilt. "It's better off buying a house for my brother."
"It's true Kane. It's hard to get a girlfriend without a house nowadays. As a brother-in-law, you should help Matthias."
Hazel's mother, Lola, chimed in, "Hazel has only one brother. We can live harmoniously if you are willing to help him."
Upon hearing what they said, Kane could no longer contain his anger and roared, "That's 40,000 dollars! It's my sister's life-saving money! Matthias is your only brother, and Isabelle is my only sister too! But you didn't spend a dollar to help my sister to get treatment instead!"
Hazel retorted, "Why are you yelling? It's just 40,000 dollars, and it's not a big sum of money. You are so stingy!"
She continued unreasonably, "What's the benefit of saving your sister? Even if she gets cured, it's burdening for all of us. I know your sister purchased critical illness insurance. We can still get compensation after she dies."
Lola quickly said, "Exactly! You can also have a dowry to marry my daughter too. Let me be clear, 70,000 dollars, not a single dollar less."
Kane's hands trembled with fury after hearing what they said.
At first, they wanted to use Kane's mother's compensation money to buy Matthias a house, and now they are even asking for his sister's death compensation to be used as the dowry.

Kane still vividly remembered when his mother was on the verge of death from the car accident, she was holding onto his hand tightly and said this to Kane while crying,

However, when Kane returned from work, he learned that Hazel had used the money to pay for her brother's house down payment.

"40,000 dollars is a big sum of money. Give me back the money since you think it is not much. I use it to save my sister!" Kane shouted.
Seeing Kane's temper, Hazel showed no sign of backing down; instead, she became even more forceful.
"Kane, look at yourself. You're just a stinky delivery guy. You can't even afford to buy me a decent handbag in a month. It's your luck that I even considered you. Now you still have the nerve to ask for the money back."
Lola chimed in from the side, saying, "Hazel, I told you not to choose him. This guy has no future. It's like taking his life by spending his money. You should have broken up with him long ago."
