chapter 6 Misunderstand

The rain poured down...
At night, the spring rain unexpectedly arrived, casting a faint curtain of rain over the night in Mid Capital, making this ancient city with a thousand years of history even more mysterious and dreamlike.
On the 37th floor of the Rihao Hotel, Jedrek stood quietly by the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing at the rain.
As the cigarette in his hand burned out, he finally came to his senses.
He looked down and extinguished the cigarette butt in the ashtray, then took out his phone and dialed, "How's it going?"
A voice came from the other end, "Still investigating. Some clues have been deliberately erased, and we have mobilized our people."
"Alright."
Ending the call, Jedrek turned and sat on the sofa, closing his eyes to rest.
The room remained unlit, and in the darkness, no figures could be seen.
Suddenly, there was a movement of air in the room, and a voice broke the silence in the darkness, "Nine Base just reported three minutes ago that the liver hasn't been successfully matched."
Boom!
The first spring thunder resounded!
After the silver light, the reflection of Jedrek's cold eyes appeared on the window. His heart was in torment.
From the joy of finding out he had a daughter to the news of her terminal illness, all within a few short hours, it felt like he had experienced both heaven and hell.
"Shouldn't the liver be a good match? Why is this happening?" There was a glint of coldness in Jedrek's eyes.
"The princess has a special constitution and is experiencing rejection," came the response from the shadows.
Just as he was about to ask further, someone emerged from the darkness. It was Shadow Thorn, wearing a black crow mask.
In a deep voice, he said, "Just received the news that someone... someone has entered the Bela A7 Villa."
Jedrek's gaze sharpened, and he reached out directly. Shadow Thorn immediately removed a communicator from his ear.
Jedrek spoke in a low voice, "Report."
A voice emanated from the communicator, "Viet, proceed with the mission to safeguard the mistress of Bela Villa A7. A 170cm tall Asian male driving a Volvo 795 arrived three minutes ago and has now entered the villa."
Jedrek took a deep breath. The moment had arrived, and it was still a male...
He didn't want to dwell on it, but...
Five minutes, ten minutes, twenty minutes... an hour later.
Jedrek casually tossed the communicator to Shadow Thorn and instructed, "Remove the protection over there."
In the darkness, Shadow Thorn, whose face couldn't be seen, nodded and retreated, vanishing into the darkness.
At that moment, inside Villa A7, Awenasa was lying on the sofa sound asleep, still holding a kitchen knife in her hand.
In the kitchen, a young man, 170 cm tall, had his mouth taped shut, his body bound like a dumpling, writhing like a maggot, but unable to break free no matter how hard he struggled.
His eyes were full of resentment and hatred, and eventually, he closed them and stopped struggling.
Time passed slowly in the drizzle, accompanied by the rumbling of thunder through the night.
The next day, the air in the city of Mid Capital was fresh after the rain.
However, the Shadow Thorn who came to report found that the Red Dragon had dark circles under his eyes!
Jedrek sensed the arrival of Shadow Thorn and opened his bloodshot eyes, saying, "Speak."
Shadow Thorn reported, "Number 9 base has received news that they've found a matching liver!"
Jedrek suddenly stood up. This was such good news, coming at just the right time, dispelling the gloom from the previous night.
However, the next moment, he heard Shadow Thorn say, "It's the Madam."
Jedrek frowned, then picked up the phone without hesitation and dialed Awenasa's number.
The call connected and Awenasa's voice, as cold as ever, asked, "Who is this?"
"It's me. We need to talk," Jedrek said.
"Fine, I'll come to find you," Awenasa agreed readily.
"At the coffee shop downstairs from the Rihga Royal Hotel," Jedrek said, stating the location.
Awenasa hung up decisively.
Jedrek stared at the phone for three seconds, then got up and left.
Twenty minutes later, Jedrek saw Awenasa, and what puzzled him was that she arrived in a Volvo.
Awenasa looked haggard, her left hand wrapped haphazardly in gauze, and her hair disheveled.
"Sit down. I want to tell you about Mirte..."
Bang!
Before Jedrek could finish, Awenasa suddenly slammed her hand on the table, her eyes red as she looked at him and hoarsely said, "Mirte is my life! You remember that! If you dare to treat Mirte badly, I won't let you off!
Jedrek, you owe me, I can disregard it because I was cheap back then, I loved you, so everything I've done is not worthy of sympathy! There's no need for anyone's pity either! But if..."
At this point, Awenasa's voice was already trembling, but she took a deep breath and spoke in a softer tone, "Mirte is in your hands, protect her well. When she gets better, leave Mid Capital immediately!"
After saying this, she placed a card in front of Jedrek and said softly, “700,000 dollars, take care of her."
Watching Awenasa get up, Jedrek furrowed his brow, and in a flash, he grabbed Awenasa's wrist, "What do you mean? Are you abandoning Mirte? You're her mother!"
"You don't need to worry. Use the money to cure Mirte," Awenasa said coldly, trying to shake off Jedrek's hand.
Jedrek refrained from using force, but Awenasa couldn't simply dismiss it. Suddenly, his attention was drawn to a young man entering the coffee shop, who was giving him a cold, piercing stare.
Years of turmoil had honed Jedrek's ability to recognize the man's hostile intent.
Awenasa, upon seeing the man, was livid. After a struggle, she managed to free her hand and without a word, she made a beeline for him.
The young man locked eyes with Jedrek before leaving with Awenasa.
Jedrek furrowed his brow. Awenasa's recent words were crystal clear - she was unconcerned about Mirte!
As he gazed at the bank card lying on the table, Jedrek's eyes turned icy: "In that case, don't blame me!"
Originally, he had intended to have a serious discussion with Awenasa; after all, she was Mirte's mother. Given Awenasa's display of affection for Mirte the previous day, it seemed reasonable to assume that donating a portion of her liver would not be an issue.
However, it appeared that things were not as he had presumed.
Awenasa wished to abandon Mirte!
While "abandon" might not be the right term, considering Awenasa had given Jedrek $700,000.
In Jedrek's eyes, this was abandonment!
Even though he knew there must be extenuating circumstances.
But to abandon is to abandon!
Regardless of the justification, he could not condone it.
Waving his hand to signal the shadow to tail the Volvo, Jedrek sat back down, picked up his now-cold coffee, and took a sip.
Extremely bitter, much like his current state of mind.
The previous night, when he learned that a man had visited Awenasa, he was disheartened, but he had no grounds to object.
However, Awenasa's callousness today was unjustifiable.
The mother of his daughter should not be so heartless!
...
Screech!
The Volvo came to a halt at the hospital entrance. Awenasa entered with an icy countenance. Behind her, the young man greedily eyed Awenasa's figure and followed her into the hospital.
However, after a few steps, Awenasa abruptly turned around, her gaze frigid, and said, "Hodge, I can overlook the break-in at my house last night, but now leave! Otherwise, I won't hesitate to be impolite!"
Hodge narrowed his eyes and retorted calmly, "Don't forget who provided you with the money. I can make one call, and that card will be frozen. Do you believe me?"
"You shameless wretch!" Awenasa gritted her teeth, her hands trembling with anger.
